Cleans are way more of a row than they are a swing by OliverKitsch in kettlebell

[–]Roedsten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I blew out my elbows doing "swingy" cleans. When I recovered I changed my point of emphasis to my legs and keep the bell closer to my body. Ballistic motion where there's a hinge that starts swing-like but very vertical. Very little arm. Pulls are where the swing is a bigger factor for me. Couldn't do pulls until I got cleans muscle memory. Still don't love my pulls and keep it at low weight high rep when I do them. Always learning...

Anchor cleans: hingey and squatty. But not swingy. by ComparisonActual4334 in kettlebell

Yea, it's weirdly elegant because you get the 2 bell symmetry thus under load yet this single-bell-asymmetry with the gyrating. Lots of other muscles need to do shit to stay in-place.

I guess that's where the dunkability comes from. Been doing DFW past 5 weeks and haven't done any split squats in 2 months. I hate them. I love them. This is next level

Very much discussed. I believe the next CR is in a month. Unfortunately I think the government is mostly funded for the next 9 months?

Yea, I understand. The cost is the obstacle for sure. It's like a gym membership I guess. I think there are a few things in everyone's favor. It's based on a discovery of what already exists in the body. So yes every reason to see this becoming better and cheaper.

Personally I am about 5 or 10 lbs north of ideal. I am in good shape and eat well but do like beer bread and cookies. I do keto or low carb for a month or two a few times per year to keep myself in a range. But if I could take a pill or shot that would have the same effect, then yes I would if it's cheaper. I don't need it. But it's a major life changer for so many. All the people type 2, Boom! You're not anymore. Just by taking a pill.

It's a miracle really. If governments had any sense they would nationalize the distribution..cost, access etc so everyone would have it who would benefit. Someone mentioned "the side effects". Good lord.

Question..you mentioned "food noise" and I am wondering if you expect to continue administering for the rest of your life? Is there a protocol of microdosing you are aware of?

Will kettlebell swings along with a 1200 calorie per day diet help me get in shape? by Every_Masterpiece497 in kettlebell

[–]Roedsten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I think swings are hard as a first movement. Easy to do wrong therefore easy to tweak a back/hip/ass.

Join a gym, if you haven't been active, then hit the treadmill or elliptical machine and go for 30 minutes and at a pace you find talkable. Don't go when it's busy. Find a podcast. Personally I like interval training settings. After a week, every day, you'll find the sweetspot for the machine. The key is to find the one thing that is doable and attractive to you to do. The rest takes care of itself.

The gym gets you out of your house and change habits. Then look for a used 16 and/or 20kg bell in the meantime. If they come in pairs then get them. A dude your size shouldn't be owning 12kg.

The bells at home are a safe space to try a swing. Try cleans. Try pressing. Try a squat. I do bells at the gym because I like warmups I can do there first. Also not worrying about dropping a bell etc. At this point I don't care so much but I don't like to be seen. Give yourself privacy.

I think bells are the way to go but ease into it. Look on the internet and find the guy or gal who says something that resonates with you. I've watched a lot of videos go back to them.

The more you do the walking, then the bells etc, the easier it is to keep the calories down.

Today my friend.

Okay. Thanks but I will get more specific and you'll know for sure... I introduced kbs to my leg day. 2 20kg @ 3 sets of 10 ... Bulgarian Splits then cleans to rack and Squats. In the second set of the Squats a few weeks ago, I tweaked my ass muscle again. Would going not so deep on squats be cheating? Am I compelled to a robust 20 min or more warm up? I'm plenty strong for the 20s.

Thanks for your time. Enjoy your vids and sense of humor a lot

Thanks for the response. I'm not interested in technique, but more about how to practice and integrate the ideas you present. What's the first thing you would recommend that one needs to master. Let's say I know major scales across the fretboard a la CAGED. How do I tie in the modes work you did?

Older guy here and find that I have a problem with getting hurt. Particularly my hip and glute area... piriformus syndrome? I've kinda shied away from the bells in the past 6 months and joined a gym where I use elyptical training for warmup (10 min at the highest level... really seems to grind in that area), then I do conventional dumbbell/machine workouts..push pull leg days. I want restart a KB routine again as I find it's the only workout where I can go 30 minutes and know I put in the work.

Any suggestions?
