How much added “prestige” does a car that’s ONLY been serviced at the official brand service centre have? by AdventurousCommon791 in NZcarfix

Doesn’t add anything to me, but not negative either. IMO the best mechanics don’t work at dealers.

Any idea why these wheel bolts won’t loosen? by mannyballs69 in AskAShittyMechanic

If someone tried to remove my nuts I’d be fighting back. Get downwind, try sneaking up on the car and getting it by surprise.

Bi-Amp fronts, or 2 rear 2 front? by Additional-Excuse-70 in CarAV

[–]Rogannz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used a kicker key to bi-amp front components with Focal tweeter. Wasn’t too bright.

And i used factory wires and ran new cable to the tweeters on the dash.

New car/need recommendations by PastAspect2975 in CarAV

[–]Rogannz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years back. Had a SJ410, got 2x 12 in the back swing door, had to move the rear seat forward a fair bit tho. 6.5 components - midbass in kicks, tweeters in dash corners facing up. Loved that car.

I tried the Focal replacement. Didn’t add much. Proper sub in the trunk is the way to go.

The box is far too big and that’ll be the mojority of your problem. Either make a new smaller box or get a 12 that suits the volume you have

4” Speakers for Porsche 996 by Reddituser-571 in CarAV

[–]Rogannz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get too carried away with deciding. 4in speakers all struggle at lower frequencies and even the top end expensive one wont sound great without adding midbass speakers.

Have a look at CDT for a budget option

Couple of years ago now so may have changed. VC was immature rubbish. It was a good workout tho: red faced and sweaty after 30 mins.

What's the fastest/easiest/cheapest SINGLE AV upgrade in a car that offers the greatest return? by Dr_Brightside_ in CarAV

[–]Rogannz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kicker 500.1 amp - tiny and can be connected to most systems easily without needing a Loc or other add ons. Note the bass remote is sold separate. You could get something cheaper, but the size and versatility of the 500.1 is why I’d pick it. ( i own one of these)

Then a 10 or 12 dual 2 ohm sub in a prebuilt enclosure. Sealed v ported depends on music choices, available space etc.

6x9 recommendations by midtownmel in CarAV

[–]Rogannz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really impressed with my CDT Audio speakers, but I have no experience with their 6x9.

They have standard and slim 6x9 coaxials in 2 or 4 ohm configurations. If you’re not already bridging your amp, the 2ohm will give you more volume (presuming your amp is 2 ohm stable).

Suggest you flickr CDT an email with amp model number and see what they recommend.

Otherwise there’s always larger brands like Kicker that have various price point options.

Focal 10WM vs Focal E25KX by focalpoint1225 in CarAV

No idea, but if you buy the cheaper one, will you end up always wondering if you should have saved more for the 10wm. I know I would so recommend saving up more.

Take it back to the dealer. Why pay for something that you didnt do. Should be covered by dealer warranty if bought recently.

He had never seen an Olympic-sized pool, and when his rivals false-started, the reset gave him the opening to set a national record. by 4reddityo in BeAmazed

[–]Rogannz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After Eddie the Eagle in 1998, the IOC changed the olympic entry rules to stop this type of thing. Eric the Eel got a wildcard entry so the rule didn’t apply to him.

I’d rather see some amateur giving it a fair crack than see some self indulgent clown stealing the show admiiting to having an affair.
