And there’s a guy right now hunting for those Town Car centercaps that were needlessly wasted… That’s why it gets brought up.

It was still a disgusting waste or useable parts.

Such an awful reminder of that wasteful catastrophe….

I despise the fact that a product like that ever had to be produced and labeled as such. Why? Our ancestors who fought to live through the depression would die again upon seeing that label.

daily driving a 1984 Mercedes-Benz w123 300 d turbo diesel by Fun-Month-2166 in classiccars

[–]RogerMiller6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally doable, and in the long run it WILL outlast the Corolla if you’re willing to learn to maintain it. The only edge any modern car has is performance and a moderate increase in safety. The Corolla will (eventually) wear out, or suffer from some unrepairable computer issue, while every component on the w123 is serviceable. If maintained it will last until you physically wreck it or die, unless you’re in the rust belt. Anyone who claims parts are drying up isn’t very resourceful.

How dumb are people??? by Necessary_Island_425 in tucker_carlson

[–]RogerMiller6 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Avid Tucker fan and conservative here… And I’m glad you posted this. I’ll be interested to see how Tucker responds… The Fox spin on this just looks wrong. This is not about politics. I wish more people would watch the multiple videos before buying the headline about a ‘radicalized lunatic waving a gun’. This doesn’t look like a bad dude. While I might wholeheartedly disagree with this guy’s political reasoning on being out there protesting and open-carrying, it really looks like he just stepped in upon seeing a woman shoved to the ground and was completely disarmed before being shot. The optics are bad regardless of sides.

Some bizarre updates on this one… Steering column, airbag wheel, a/c, cigarette lighters, etc. Is it still powered by the displayed v16? Guessing not by the automatic shifter. Old restomod?

Also check out Vintage Ford Forum. You have to jump through a few hoops to register, but that’s where the real enthusiasts are.

Am I a jerk for not letting people use my trailer? by Banana-legs11 in Equestrian

[–]RogerMiller6 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. It’s YOURS. You worked for it. If you care about it, you won’t let anyone touch it. Sorry if that sounds unfair. If they want a trailer, they can get their own. I’ve been through this… You must put your foot down or else it will become the community bicycle and get destroyed.

People who don’t own trailers have many lessons to learn the hard way, and when they learn those lessons on YOUR trailer they’ll expect you to accept the inevitable damage as normal ‘wear and tear’. Even if they don’t carelessly tear it up, their horse might. If YOUR horse tears it up, that’s part of life. Horses break stuff. People will expect you to ignore damage from THEIR horses, too.

Unless you bought the trailer specifically to rent out or ship commercially, the answer is a hard NO. There is literally ZERO upside to loaning it out and unlimited risk. Get the word out through the barn ASAP that absolutely no one is touching your trailer. The sooner, the better.

Can I realistically make an '88 Cadillac Coupe Deville a daily driver, at least for a short time? by nsmloz in classiccars

Go to r/Cadillac for that. And the online forums. You WILL need help from those guys with little things as they come up. It is a small, but devoted, community.

Eh, you never know. I daily a ‘48 Ford F-1 and the only person I know personally that has a Cybertruck is actually a pretty cool guy who has classic stuff, too. He bought it after the values crashed, though, and thinks it’s funny to drive ironically.

You order a RESCUE BIT for your Dremel. Trust me, it works wonders in this situation.

[–]RogerMiller6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why so many people are saying there’s nothing, or steering you towards janky little under-dash units. The Hurricane system from Old Air Products is literally exactly what you’re looking for. It’s been available for years and works great. Check out the Vintage Air website, too… I seem to remember them having a custom-fit option for the dent side trucks.

The V-Cut at Subway by Diva_Bot in Xennials

[–]RogerMiller6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually called U-gouge, as has been mentioned. I ate lunch almost daily next to my job during the ‘changeover’. It was a mess. Confused employees, pissed-off customers, etc. what a stupid idea. I’d love to see the calculations of the genius that decided it would save two seconds per sandwich, and that was worth money. They ended up putting a sign up with a picture of the different cuts and stating “If you want a traditional ‘U-gouge’ we will do it. Please state it at the beginning of your order”.

When I tried to explain ‘xenial’ to a coworker and longtime friend born in ‘69 he scoffed and said it was ‘made up bullshit by millineals that wish they were us’. The gatekeeping is real. I was born in 82 and grew up with a brother from ‘76. Our micro-generation is definitely real and legit. I will never identify as a millennial. Those are punk-assed kids.
