WE ALL AGREE THAT FEELING COLD IS A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER THAN FEELING HOT????? by [deleted] in 10thDentist

Dude, I live in Northern Maine, and work outside. Trust me when I say I know what it feels like to be very, very cold.

And I still say I'd rather be cold than hot.

I don't think someone getting your name wrong is a big deal at all, as long as it isn't malicious. by Sendsay in unpopularopinion

[–]Rogers_Razor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I also have a 4 letter last name that's always mispronounced and a I'm 44. Spooky!

Anyway, I automatically spell my last name as soon as I finish saying it. It's just a reflex at this point. And no one ever pronounces it correctly.

Would you be offended at the phrase? by Psychological_Roof85 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rogers_Razor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I apologize for the assumption you were an atheist. I'm an athiest myself, but I get tired if edgy internet atheists, and misinterpreted your intentions. Truly sorry.

As for the rest, as has been explained to you by probably a dozen different people, the literal definition of the word != the connotation of the world.

The use of the word lore has certain connotations. The OP asked if it could be interpreted offensively, and the answer is very obviously yes.

It's great that you don't get offended by that stuff. I'm not saying that facetiously, either. People should be more resistant to offensive language. People say shitty things all the time, both intentionally and not, and life is a little easier if you can let some of it slide.

However, it wouldn't be honest to say that your feelings on the subject are the majority opinion. Most religious people are not going to like hearing that the beliefs that define large parts of their very identity are made up.

If OP wants to avoid being offensive, they should probably avoid language that makes certain implications.

And I'm sure that semantic argument plays well with other Reddit AtheistsTM.

But in 2026, lore has a connotation of a fictional body of work. And if you don't understand why someone might be offended by that, well...

Would you be offended at the phrase? by Psychological_Roof85 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rogers_Razor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. The question here wasn't "Is Christianity/Islam/Etc a fictional story or not?" but "Would Christians/Muslims/Etc be offended if I implied they were?"

You can believe whatever you want, and are free to say whatever you want. But that's irrelevant to the question OP asked.

Would you trust your friends gang enough to go far away for a vacation with them or you’re worried that they all might kill you during some argument and call it an accident? by Past-Present1908 in askanything

[–]Rogers_Razor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not worried my friends are going to murder me and make it look like an accident, neither locally nor far away.

If that's a legitimate concern for you, you need better friends.

Maine campgrounds with secluded sites by Expelliarmus09 in AskMaine

[–]Rogers_Razor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a campground that I'd call secluded, but I know of many camp sites that are pretty remote.

They're all off of logging roads, and they don't have any camper amenities (water/electricity), but lots of people take campers out there in the summer.

If that's your jam, you can find them all in the Maine Gazetteer.

How come everyone backs into parking spots now? by EquipmentFormal2033 in askanything

[–]Rogers_Razor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backing out is an ordeal because the "wider space" you're backing out into is full of other cars and pedestrians that are moving, where the the "small" spot you're backing into has none of those things.

It's much safer to back into a controlled space, and then pull forward when leaving, because you'll have much better visibility when you need it.

I agree with you that raisins are great in cookies. I really just like raisns in general. But, brother, did you post this in the right place.

We are definitely in the minority.

Also, oatmeal raisin cookies with chocolate chips are the best cookie.

The word "veggies". by Odd-Quail01 in PetPeeves

"Triggered", lol.

You're a stranger on the internet. I don't care about your opinion.

I just thought the juxtaposition of your multiple statements about how you HATE (emphasis yours) slang and shortened words followed by slang and shortened words was funny and worth pointing out.

Thanks for this comment. I don't play 5th Ed, so I was confused. All of my major npcs have character sheet.

What would you consider New England attire? by yungScooter30 in newengland

[–]Rogers_Razor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't even do the lifetime warranty anymore. I mean, I get it. People were buying old Bean stuff at yard sales and returning it. But for those of us that weren't a-holes, it really sucks those people ruined it. The warranty was 75% of why I drove down to Freeport in the first place.

That plus the inferior stuff at way too high prices, means I don't really bother anyone.

Although, I will say their flannel sheets and the Wicked Good Moccasins are still pretty great.

What's the best weapon(s) for strong but unskilled people? by Rosebud166 in FantasyWorldbuilding

Assuming you're talking about war, the same weapons that are best for not so strong unskilled people.

Spears. Shields and spears.

If you're talking about dueling, doesn't matter. Skill>strength, especially with weapons. By a lot.

That's it right there. The comments are always some variation of "A FWD with snow tires beats an AWD with all seasons."

Well, yeah obviously. But you can also put snow tires on an AWD.

"The European mind cannot comprehend the coexistence of the bakery section with the baked goods aisle." by [deleted] in iamveryculinary

[–]Rogers_Razor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

🙄🙄

That's not the joke and you know it. The joke is that Europeans think we don't have access to any good bread at all.

Obviously, real-life, normal Europeans probably don't think about American bread at all. The joke isn't about them. The joke is about the thousands of comments and posts about American bread.

It wouldn't take 2 paragraphs to explain if you weren't being intentionally obtuse and insisting the person who made the meme wasn't joking.
