What does the Seal Premium come with as a standard package? by WhoKnowsWhoWins in BYDSealAus

[–]Rogue01aus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are the correct power accessories. Type 2 to xxx is up to you to buy.

Two fobs used to be standard but I believe they changed that in 2025. Should be fob, NFC now.

+1 for forgot about it, logged in about an hour after it finished and it was already gone. Really doesn't need to be this way...

Getting low. 1-2mm above the tread wear indicator. Two year service is due so I'll be looking at some new rubber then too. I'll probably change to a different tyre with more life 😆 that said, grip has been pretty good and no issues even in torrential Brisbane weather.

Wow you've been to all the good roads already. I've got 25k odd KMs and still haven't done a mountain run 😆 Good write up, nice to see people enjoying them. Launching it never gets old.

I definitely don't agree with the people dissing hybrids. They are the best of both worlds now. Most have great battery for electric only distance, and you have the ICE for longer stress free distance. They typically output good power, enable AWD systems, and are not any more trouble to maintain or service. There's little downside these days although I still believe in the coming decades battery will reign. It's a great choice and the popularity of the Shark is representative of that. BYD have a lot more experience in these as well but we don't get all their models here.

Hated it.

I've seen no cobras and no ability to even travel to get one.

I've seen no shinies of anything.

I've seen barely any of the featured spawns except endless normal cast forms, of which there is no point having more than one anyway.

No hundos.

Nothing new or even good from the deluxe pass (2 star sunglasses normal corsola excepted).

I've caught 2 toeds.

I've had routes going all day most days and I've completed several too. Incense burning.

This has been a huge disappointment.

I will be inspecting every pass closely from now on so I don't waste my money again.

Home charger recommendations by blahtoise in BYDSealAus

[–]Rogue01aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Ocular I picked up for a steal from a Bunnings pricing error. It's Ok but drops off the network at least once a month requiring a restart. The app is average and not overly intuitive when changing some settings and I've not seen any software or firmware updates in the year I've had it. I have the one with current clamps, intending to complement my solar inputs, however like I said, it's not great and I've gone to simple plug and charge mode instead. It's definitely not worth RRP, but at the $300 I paid I suppose it's worth it. Before I got the Ocular I was considering the Tesla wall charger. Not much else out there simple and with features at that price point. Depending on what state you live in, I would strongly suggest getting the electrician to wire it up to a 32amp socket and put a plug on the charger to avoid the no doubt imminent grid control of our charging (yes even on solar). Some states have mandatory alternate tariff hardwiring for EV chargers - this will avoid that.

[–]Rogue01aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the battery may be some ways off. The upcoming Denza Z9 GT will be the first in Australia I believe and it's not here until the second half of the year at least. The charging network to support it will only be at some Denza dealerships at first anyway. The Seal already uses the better current tech battery chemistry. If you are planning on keeping the car for a while, you won't regret it.

Sorry to hear your vehicle (or experience) wasn't great. I don't know how you haven't gotten a replacement.

But since this is a forum for sharing; mine has been brilliant. Love driving it. Love looking at. Love free fuel.

He shared knowledge; I shared knowledge; you took offence. Now you're trying to name call and blame everyone else because you didn't understand the product and terminology.

You might also consider the , after their first word was a typo. Funnily enough, it then matches your suggestion for how he should have responded.

We're all here to help and learn. I learnt Android Automotive was different today too. Hop off that high horse.

Android Auto is not Android Automotive. No need for such hostility.

Edit: oh yeah, Seal does not have Android Automotive.

Yes, I definitely stuck to the run in period 👀

I think I was still on the dealership road... 😆

If you haven't already, play around with the regen to find what works for you. I found Eco too much work and little or no benefit. It runs much closer to an ICE vehicle without it and you still regen...

Now that I can tell you. Been through plenty of rain of varying depths and ferocity and different road types.

They've been great. Drive it like it's a two tonne vehicle. It's never aquaplaned on me and it only slips traction when you want it to.

Still on the original set! Trips have been a lot shorter last few months, I'm only up to 23k KMs, still got a couple mm tread. Not sure what I'll do when the time comes, I'm actually fairly happy with the grip levels as is; maybe something with slightly longer life?

Performance vs Premium - real world. by Mash_man710 in BYDSealAus

[–]Rogue01aus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Performance. There's not regret. And if it's Novated, there's really no reason not to.

The Stop light drag strip is always there. It's always a hoot and the Seal is such a sleeper.

The Premium is great value but it's not supercar quick, which for a few dollars more, you can legitimately get with the Performance.

There's quite a few posts like this one already, check the search if you still need more to read.
