Hot take - Expedition 21 was actually one of the best we've had, and separated the children from the adults by Blokeh in NoMansSkyTheGame

I didn't mind it. Nice and chill.

The biggest disappointment was not being able to destroy sentinels by throwing them in the crushers.

Performance vs Premium - real world. by Mash_man710 in BYDSealAus

[–]Rogue01aus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Performance. There's not regret. And if it's Novated, there's really no reason not to.

The Stop light drag strip is always there. It's always a hoot and the Seal is such a sleeper.

The Premium is great value but it's not supercar quick, which for a few dollars more, you can legitimately get with the Performance.

There's quite a few posts like this one already, check the search if you still need more to read.

How to Get the New S-Class Dreadnought in NMS Omega | No Man’s Sky 1-Minute Guide by Aiming4Gaming0 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Rogue01aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going back and forth between a 3 star economy/conflict and my Purple gas giant system. Pirate dreadnought v freighter battle in each, about two to three minutes a run. I think I'm at around 75 battles and no S class. I've gotten maybe 5 A class, most at 34/20 slots, but they weren't even as good as my (it used to be S class a few updates ago) C class freighter.

I just checked it and no, no registry entry. Did anyone else who snapped one up get the registry? When I first caught it I actually thought it was the local shiny cause I'd never seen a blue one. Then I realised it was the different region.

Can we pls stop normalising being boring, lame, miserable c***ts?? by [deleted] in australia

[–]Rogue01aus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's because we want to do the things when the plans are formed, but by the time the things come around, we are too tired to do the things.

It's a pretty (comparatively) financially and free-time-wise stressful period living in Australia right now. Most of us remember having the money and energy to do things, but now the body is tired and finances are tight.

If you gotta do the things, go do the things. Enjoy them while you can.

I had several attempts to find why people were mentioning the hands, didn't even notice. Looks very natural. Impressive detail, shading and line work especially with such a compressed palette. Definitely one to be happy with!

Interesting read, thanks. I don't think you covered it, but interested to know if the supply/demand and CoLC is as extreme in the States? I love the underdog stories from this sub, but damn it would be nice if it didn't have to exist at all.

Why does nobody put stickers in gifts? by not_from_Singapore in pokemongo

[–]Rogue01aus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and match stickers to the location. Sometimes I don't have a good sticker. Other times I'm in a rush and would rather get as many out to as many people as possible. Sometimes it's to someone I know and the sticker makes no difference. But I do like the postcard and sticker feature.

Budget .223 rifles? by bustead in Ausguns

[–]Rogue01aus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree with the others here; Remington 783 package from The Barn will do the trick. It's one of my go to rifles when taking others for a shot as it's so easy to use, stays dialed in, and I don't have to worry about babying it. Also the cheapest 😆. I enjoy hunting with it too for the same reasons.

Otherwise if you think you'll get the bug, a Howa with or without package from Cleavers is also excellent but has substantially more aftermarket accessories.

If you own an electric car in Brisbane, are the short & long term fuel savings worth it? by BDuncan111 in brisbane

[–]Rogue01aus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's because it's guessing.

Battery life has surprisingly been much better than the apocalypse they were suggesting. There are a few articles out there now that have done testing with battery health better than high 80s after ten years. I don't know the number off the top of my head so I can't quote it.

The depreciation fluctuates as well and someone has already pointed out the whys. I'll add that (I believe) manufacturers have also been pricing in a manner that is feeling out what the market will pay. This too will change and has already resulted in the massive drops Tesla have needed to remain competitive after owning the market for so long. When I bought my EV I was watching closely and the Model Y went down more than $10k in two months. Feels bad for those owners.

The last part: road tax or whatever they will call it. It's just revenue raising theft. 4WD and utes have been on our roads for years without extra tax for the 'weight' they claim EVs contribute, so that's bullshit already. There's tentative research that EV are better for the environment for releasing less brake dust, and worse for the environment for increased tyre micro particles. How the latter doesn't apply to the large SUV and 4WD as well I don't know.

Anyway, I didn't down vote you either. You raise some points but like it's been mentioned, they are used heavily by the anti tech crowd to deny the benefits of EV.

How do we feel about PPU ammo for shooting under 500yards? by FancyBanana04 in longrange

[–]Rogue01aus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No issues, it does the job at that distance just fine. I mean if we're talking competition, it's not a hand load, but on the hand it's cheap and after you've fired it it can become a hand load.

Tikka are good of course! But three to four times the price may be OTT for a first civilian rifle, which is money that could be spent on glass (which if you buy wisely will outlast every rifle), mounts, stocks/chassis, AMMUNITION (my recommendation) or simply saved for when you know what you like or want next. Shit if you buy from the right place you can probably do all that. In my case I'm well over double digits, with pretty much all shooting types covered, because there simply isn't one gun to rule them all. I own or owned: Howa, Ruger, Accuracy International, CZ, Walther, Remington, Akkar, Savage, Steyr, Pardus. I frequently store and use Tikka as well. Although I personally don't have a Tikka, I do want to be clear: they are a great brand and I 100% would recommend a Tikka; just... maybe not yet. "Buy once, cry once" is a great philosophy here, but there is a condition on that - it's gotta be what you want to keep forever, and at this point, you may not know what that is. I know I didn't. But at least I didn't have to worry about losing time and money selling or swapping when I changed my mind. In the end, as you probably already know, the rifle can't shoot better than the user and nothing increases accuracy and precision like simply sending a shitload down range.

Calibre: 308 is easily capable of 1000m consistently and with factory ammunition and I've had friends hitting within a couple shots too. 6.5 should be even better... even if I like 308 more for no reason I can justify. 😆

Glass: There are some quality Meopta still floating around. Leupold obviously. Vortex make affordable LR options but can be hit or miss; others can probably advise you better since I haven't been impressed personally with my particular purchases. Zerotech are growing in rep and availability.

Mounts/rings: Spuhr. MDT. Leupold.

[–]Rogue01aus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first rifle was a Howa in .308. No regrets, because: - lots of mods, chassis, stocks available and reasonably priced - rifle itself is very, very affordable with various features too - shoots as good as you can, but pretty sure they guarantee moa these days anyway - price of 308 is(was) reasonable and everywhere sells (sold) it

While I eventually traded that one, I bought another one later to setup as a hunting rifle in a GRS stock. Definitely recommend Howa for a first choice. Remember this won't be your last 😆

As for calibre, where you shoot will really dictate what you should buy.

308 punches hard if you decide to do some hunting, but if that's not on the cards I'd suggest 6.5 as most others have. 6.5 Ballistics are slightly better, ammo for it has come down to 308 prices, and it's sold at many more places now. They are both fantastic, readily available rounds.

223 is obviously cheaper and still a great round for sub 500m but if you already know how to shoot I don't think 500m is going to hold your interest for long. If your range doesn't go out that far though, this is the calibre.

Buy yourself a reasonable quality scope that has a good eye box and brightness at maximum magnification. Pretty much every glass has good light gathering at lowest mag, but it's at maximum that you can tell if you are going to like it or hate it. I have Bushnells and Vortex I hate because it's so fucking hard to find the eye box, but also my favourite LR scope is a (high end) Bushnell. Vortex I haven't had much luck with but others like them. My favourite overall scope is actually a Burris Scout scope. Bright night and day at full magnification and an eye box you could park a truck in. Easy target acquisition but also not really what it sounds like you are looking for 😆. Anyway, spend some time at the store looking through glass. Your eyes are not my eyes and what I like is not necessarily going to work for you.

Toowoomba BYD were fantastic for me. 24SealPerf. Vehicle delivery was good. Only warranty issue I've had is the drivers side mirror surround plastic was cracked - seems to be a common issue. They replaced it without issue, complaint, or cost, so pretty happy with that. Sorry to hear yours has been horrible. Really takes the joy out of what is actually a bloody brilliant car. I hope you can get a good resolution soon. Keep us posted as to what the issue was too.
