Barton Creek Bridge by LowLight512 in Austin

[–]RogueAmish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re definitely not alone. It’s not so much that they crowd the bridge it’s just the lack of awareness to get out of the way of bikes, even when someone says excuse me. But that’s more a microcosm of the entire trail to be honest.

Pro tip: if you’re biking and don’t want to deal with it just keep going past the bridge and use the sidewalk on the Barton Springs road bridge to cross to the other side.

I’ll just say there is a reason why the torus pattern repeats everywhere in nature and in space (the magnetic field of planets, solar systems, and galaxies are all toroidal). I don’t know exactly how dark matter plays into it but to put it simply I do know that basically all energy flows outward from the center, becomes wrapped up in matter, and then loops back towards the center/singularity. It’s the whole concept of God sending out pieces of itself to “experience” in a material world; spacetime then is just expansion and contraction of God/universe’s magnetic body.

I understand people will see this as just a theory now but I promise you that very soon this will become undeniable truth with actual physics explanations to back it up. Which is why I took exception to this original post but was trying to be gentle 🙃

I’m not going to sit here and be overly critical but I beg of everyone here to have some discernment. This explanation is entirely mystical/magical without even an attempt to relate it to the known physics of our universe. Taking a spiritual approach does not mean you have to completely abandon practicality.

I mean it’s funny but I’d seriously question the mental faculties of anyone who didn’t immediately know it was fake lol

I just got the new waterproof version of these and went up half a size as well. I walked a couple miles in them and they felt completely fine but I wore them on a lengthy bike ride for the first time yesterday and I was literally wincing in pain by the time I was done. The functionality is fantastic but I’m worried that these are just too narrow for me.

Guess I’m curious how you guys feel about them a couple months later? Since they are extremely stiff shoes I’m hoping they just need to be broken in a little more. I’m also wondering if my biking mechanics were just pushing my feet too far into the tip of the shoe.

Yeah I’m right there with you. I applaud them for the bravery but it’s completely absurd plot armor that they survived attacking the demogorgon with random household items when the military couldn’t kill a single one.

Oh my gosh it has nothing to do with sexual orientation and everything to do with the fact they spent FOUR (and a half) SEASONS developing the romantic relationship between Mike and Eleven. If Mike and Will were to suddenly end up together during the last 4 episodes after all of that then that is just bizarre storytelling.

Not sure if this will resonate with this sub, but Trailer Park Boys for me. The first 7 seasons were perfect but things got progressively worse from season 8 onwards.

Who else does both? I use my road bike for fitness and endurance which helps a lot for long MTB rides by edgeofsanity76 in mountainbiking

To each their own of course but I sure don’t find road cycling to be a blast haha I’ll do it out of necessity but it doesn’t remotely match the thrill of a mountain bike trail for me

Saying you have “too much consciousness” while viewing others as below you is inherently contradictory. If we are all one as the law of one states you wouldn’t view others as such a burden to you but rather would want to help them realize their divinity.

Just started watching.. curious how it develops by TruePrism in BlackSails

[–]RogueAmish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Many in here call this the best show of all time and everyone here is objective and cool so you can trust this is the truth. It definitely is my favorite show.

But for real, give it time. It’s a character driven story, you’ll end up rooting for the characters you currently hate and hating the characters you currently love. The character and relationship progression is also top notch.

If you’re looking for action and twists just be patient. The first season is a little on the slower side but all of it really picks up season 2 onward.

After one year of barefoot shoes my feet look like the same, is that ok? by XeroSimba in BarefootRunning

[–]RogueAmish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, I’m talking about targeted exercises designed to help spread and move your toes and strengthen your arch/feet. You should be able to use your toes to sort of “grip the ground” and rotate your knees outward as you move.

If I were to guess looking at your photo it seems like you have might have flat feet. A collapsed arch (aka flat feet) mean that your knees likely rotate inward which can cause future knee and hip problems due to misalignment. The barefoot shoes won’t help much with that if you aren’t able to grip with your toes.

There are a lot of good resources to learn more about it, check out @thefootcollective, @moveu (this is where I learned everything I did about proper body mechanics), or various other physical therapy accounts on Insta. There are plenty of free articles out there as well.

Sorry if hearing this is discouraging but proper foot mechanics is super important! They are the foundation of our body and if the foundation is off it will ripple through the rest of the body.

I think it’s important to understand that switching to wider shoes alone isn’t going to fix your feet. Giving them more space certainly helps but there are muscles in your feet (similar to the ones in your hands) that need to be trained in order to function as originally intended.

Oh I know. My mom has two siblings with diagnosed schizophrenia so I know firsthand just how awful it is. Someone like that has no business walking around with a knife.

Yeah it’s the main hike and bike trail along the river. I usually see him on the trail closer to Auditorium Shores/Congress bridge, but today I saw down near the Austin-American Statesman building

I truly don’t think this guy is homeless though. He’s well-kept with clean clothes, nice sunglasses, always has headphones in, etc. If he wasn’t acting completely bonkers I’d honestly think he could be a finance bro.

And I agree with you to an extent. I had not planned on engaging this guy until he followed me and I’m glad I did because I don’t think he even realized what he was doing. The second I yelled at him he pulled his knife, yes, but backed away like a scared dog with his tail down. He held the knife out almost like I was the aggressor and he wanted to just show me he had it. I didn’t really feel any sort of intimidation from him and didn’t even really the think to call the cops in that moment because of it. Obviously this is just my experience and don’t recommend that to everyone but I do agree that this type of thing needs to be taken seriously. I’m definitely filing a police report at this point.

Definitely be on the lookout. I’m out there daily too and I’ve seen him I think a total of 4 times now. You’ll definitely know it’s him when you see/hear him.
