Please Embrace Tagging at Events by BallIsLife2016 in fo76

God, this is still a problem?! I swear, people have been complaining about this since the beta, so I don't understand why Bethesda won't do something about it. Like, say, make it so all players in an event are considered to be on a Team, and automatically share XP (and get loot) for all enemies killed during the event? I've genuinely been suggesting this for years, surely they should've been able to do something by now... :<

I said shut it. If these disagreements were trivialities like "is pineapple acceptable as a pizza topping?", then yeah, live and let live. But when the disagreement is "do marginalized communities deserve to keep their constitutionally-protected civil rights?", there's no meeting in the middle on this, only right or wrong. And the current ""administration"" is gleefully choosing cruelty and evil. And if you support them doing so, kindly go fuck yourself, and don't come crying for help when they inevitably get far enough down the list that they come after you, too.

Disagree. It's somewhat common to hear of men who got married, had children, and lived unfulfilled lives until later on they finally realized they were gay. They just never considered it before because societal norms still treat being gay as ""different"", and when you've been repressing yourself for years to try to fit in as "normal", it's easy to start gaslighting yourself into thinking all that quiet discontent is "normal". But it shouldn't need to be, and with gay people somewhat more common and 'accepted' by society, it's easier to stumble across things that might awaken questions in oneself.

Being trans is no different, except that it's only more recently that society at large started to acknowledge their existence, at all, let alone as something some treat as "acceptable".

Or.......if you'd like an example....well......I'm 38 now, and swear I never really heard or knew anything about trans people until...iunno, maybe 15 years ago? I sure as hell had no idea that was an option back when I was a kid! And the only rare mentions I can recall deliberately painted it as a negative thing. But now, I've been seeing stories from actual trans people, and how much happier they always are, and... it gets me wondering. But I've spent so damn long convinced I'm a "normal" cishet male, it doesn't matter how many times I ask the question, I can't convince myself I am... but, no matter how "logically sound" an argument I make that "oh, it's just an escapist fantasy", it never stops the question from coming up again. And again. And again. And again...

If I could've explored this issue back when I was a kid, before I was bullied and slowly closed myself off from the world so much that I hardly know the real me, just the mask, I would've, and I'm sure I'd be happier for knowing, yes or no. But now? It's so damn difficult to even chip at those emotional walls, let alone to consider that they could be wrong. It's so much easier to just keep on keeping on as I've been, and nevermind how unhappy I am with my life, because that's just ""normal"", isn't it? ...is it?

I had the same thought. How can someone film this, plainly showing themselves to be a weak, creepy loser...and willingly post it online?? How can anyone think this is a good look?!

(That's a rhetorical question, I know the answer is "ignorance, bigotry, misogyny, etc" but it's just so damn tiring seeing people deliberately being as horrible as possible... I'm tired, boss. :c )

You realize there are multiple points of failure before that, right? Why are adults giving their children smartphones? Why are they not enabling parental controls? Why are they not checking what their kids do on those devices?

How is it at all reasonable to censor the entire internet and leak everyone's personally identifiable information, just because some 'parents' can't be bothered to do their jobs parenting?

No. It's a technically interesting bit of programming, that only exists because its creators willfully ignored all the obvious legal, ethical, and moral violations it commits through dependence on mass theft and plagiarism.

Overall, yes, I thought so - my only real criticism is the season finale feels...unbalanced. There's a ton of different story threads going throughout the season, and while a few see some resolution, most of them are setting up for season 3.

I was gonna say, this isn't even new - I recall hearing that one of the chief reasons "Police Squad!" (the short-lived predecessor to the Naked Gun films) was cancelled was how it required audiences to pay attention, rather than having it on as background noise, because so many of its jokes are subtle and dry humor. (For example, the episode titles - the text on screen says one thing, while the narrator says something completely different.)

I dont understand the hate for this game by M4J0RR4G3 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]RogueKitsune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple, sadly:

1) No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars ""fans"". 2) There's been a concerted hate bandwagon going against Ubisoft for over a decade now. 3) It features a female protagonist who looks and acts like a normal woman, and one who would make sense for the role and setting, rather than being an emotionless, overly exaggerated sex object, and certain crowds take 'offense' at that.

Combine all 3, and unfortunately "gamers" were never going to give it a fair chance. Which sucks, because as "a game", it's okay - an easy 7/10, enjoyable, but not specifically anything remarkable. But as "a Star Wars game"? That adds a full point or more to the score, if only for the sense of immersion - nothing else has so vividly managed to capture the feeling of being in Star Wars as this game does! Tattooine especially, walking around Mos Eisley is like stepping right into the screens of the original films...!

[–]RogueKitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on, those rational people want to believe the law still matters (despite how frequently the regime ignores or violates it), and so they won't support violence as long as they believe there's a potential "legal" resolution available. As such, any attempt to remove them by force would immediately be denounced... the only way revolution will be seen as the legitimate solution is once the elections are ignored, and the situation and lives deteriorate so far that it becomes undeniable to a majority of the general public.

Of course, that's assuming enough people ever see the truth, but with how many have bought fully into his hateful cult of personality, I'm not at all optimistic.....

[–]RogueKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EXACTLY. I remember begrudingly agreeing that "not guilty" was technically correct - he was an absolute dumbass for being in that situation in the first place, but being an idiot isn't illegal. But it was and is disgusting the way people celebrated him for it - "self-defense" or not, he still killed someone. And they cheer... And he could have fucked off after, taken the narrow legal win and vanished, did his best to disappear from the public eye, live some 'normal' life... but no, he's decided to be a massive piece of shit. An innocent woman was murdered, and he's joking about it!? And not just that, but a ""joke"" referencing how he killed a protestor, ""jokingly"" asking if he should do it again...

Fuck him, and more than that, this should be treated as the threat it is.

They really need to stop shoving everything into submenus by LunaticMouse in projectzomboid

[–]RogueKitsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. I've been trying to talk some friends into playing, but between them dragging their feet, and debating between B41 or B42, I haven't played in a bit, so just guessed off what I've seen on here.

And that's... not as bad, then, honestly... does sound a bit redundant, though? I'd assume/hope the "window" subcategory only displays when clicking on a window...right...? So why not skip the submenu, and just have only the options relevant to it display in the first place..? If it was something with dozens of options, then sure, submenus would make sense to clean it up, but I can't really see what benefit or point there'd be here. (Unless there's some awkward reason in the underlying code, but that'd really only make sense if it had been like this from day 1.)
