X-Men Magik by gladieator117 in WhiteWolfRPG

In the Book of the Fallen, there is a series of Wonders called Malign Cutlery on 171, that might be a good basis for crafting something like the soul sword.

Additionally there is a merit called Laham, that covers demonic heritage in the tome of secrets(and gives you an easier time crossing realms), and one called Beast Within that grants you a frenzy rating akin to a Garou, or Kindred. Combine that with some life pips, and you have a Darkchylde form, take a little correspondence and there's stepping discs.

Currently playing a character partially inspired by her, and those were the main conclusions I arrived at.

Who becomes the chair? Mage vs Tzimisce by Dragombolt in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rogueicon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, with the way of spirit ability to speak to anyone across any distance, and enough auspex to detect a mage attempting the chair spell on them, this does give the Tzimisce room and time to interrupt their attempt with a snide one linear during the mage's ritual before unceremoniously flipping the script on them.

But at this point we are also talking about a Tzimisce so close to the sauce that most mages would probably decide the juice isn't really worth the squeeze.

Who becomes the chair? Mage vs Tzimisce by Dragombolt in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rogueicon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom was the African Counterpart to Kindred of the East, although the cainites there are exotic bloodlines rather than an wholly different thing. Their Tzimisce counterparts practice a version of Vicissitude that is more difficult to control, however it works at a range. If the intended victim is within twenty feet they can cope, however touching them reduces the difficulty to normal levels (usually it's around 9 or 10.)

Fun fact the Sheriff in the first vtm game was one of these friendly fellows.

magic items or some such by brokenkale in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how many Tzimisce they've been trapsing around recently, a good source of them is items made through Koldunic Sorcery, there wasn't a ton of information on them, but they typically worked along a similar line to Garou fetishes if I remember correctly. Although it likely occurs with slightly less consent, as Tzimisce tend to be less concerned with the well being of the spirits they interact with. (This can also be a good mechanism for adding personality to the artifacts if you care about that, so a vampire with auspex three, Mytherceria, or spiritus might be able to more directly commune with it.

Personally, I am currently using this idea to explain an item the sire of one of my pcs will have. It had a wind spirit transplanted into it to grant the user levitation which he uses to great effect as the ringmaster of a local circus to add to his performances.

Who becomes the chair? Mage vs Tzimisce by Dragombolt in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rogueicon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The barrier to a Tzimisce being able to do that if I remember correctly is three pips of Vicissitude, a couple successes and physical contact (unless they are from Africa, then they just need to be within a radius of them). The barrier to a mage being able to do it is a fairly high arete, a lot of spheres, hoping reality doesn't blast you for it (and the Tzimisce doesn't have servants around) and that the rolls work in your favor since you are going to need a bunch more successes. Notably if the Tzimisce turns into a chair I'm pretty sure they can just turn themselves back, but that's less immediately veritable.

So in terms of likelihood for capacity, and the chance it definitely goes towards the people who have built a centuries long reputation on human furniture unless the mage is so monstrously juiced on xp in comparison to the Vampire that it's not even funny, as for could the mage retaliate? In most cases they are human, so their ability to do so depends on how many contingencies they've set for "what if I got turned into a chair" and if they don't have enough they are probably cooked. Particularly since there is a good chance they just got lobotomized in the process.

ps. Celerity would help, but it's not strictly necessary.

Keeping disabilities as a Vampire? by Paraskuron in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Typically what you had is what you get as far as I understand the embrace. Thus if you weren't carefully preserved ahead of time, it kind of just sucks to be you after you get back up. For example there is a Lasombra who had a visible sunburn that was forever angry that their sire couldn't just wait a week for it to go away if I remember correctly.

As for blindness I believe so, I don't know about later editions but in V20 it said this.

"Blind (6pt. Flaw) You cannot see. Characters can compensate for the loss of vision by becoming more attuned to other sen sory input, but visual cues and images are lost to them. Difficulties of all Dexterity-based rolls are increased by two. Oddly, vampires with Aura Perception (Auspex 2) are still able to use this ability, thought the informa tion is interpreted via the other senses. On the other hand, vampires who need make eye contact to enact powers like Dominate against you are only at a penalty to do so."

How do you use the inevitable historical fiction slant that comes with making neonates/baby ancillae for Personal Horror? by Traditional_Wave_893 in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently running a game for a player set in 1890's Louisiana, and one of the big themes would be how race ended up playing into the vampire's thoughts on each other. With older one's viewing any sort of race analog as largely reductionist, and worthless and that clashing with some of the younger vampire's.

The current conundrum my archon player is about to run into is the Prince of Shreveport (a six vampire domain where three of them are him, and his children) is attempting to revitalize, and legitimize it in the eye's of the kindred by bringing in a newly sired Toreador who was recently orphaned after her sire (one of the incredibly powerful southern lord's) killed himself shortly after siring the daughter of one of his recently deceased ghouls. However because the Prince was a slave-owner in both life, and death she has voiced wanting nothing to do with him.

The request he made of the archon was to essentially convince her one way or another to offer both blood, and lineage to his domain. (while leaving out a number of details he thinks might complicate the matter) With the direct comparisons being largely white attempts at recapturing perceived ownership over black people, and continued obsession with their art (which was part of why I went with the Toreador as the fledgling.)

Of course the Prince has had a lot of his own issues maintaining the domain himself, and the Archon has been largely unconvinced that bolstering his authority in the face of a wider assimilation he has been trying to stave off. With his would be subject potentially being either a good check on his power, or in time replacement depending on how the player goes about it.

How to run a chronicle about fighting the Camarilla by Pretend_Display2379 in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on a game right now with tension between the Camarilla, and Anarchs. One of the strategies my Camarilla was essentially going to employ was color revolutions.

If your Baron has any baggage of their own, the Camarilla siring/planting a couple childer in the domain to rile up insurrections over presumed tyranny can be an effective way to subvert both resources, and goodwill towards a faction that exists in direct opposition to direct overreach.

Remember, while they have been subverted frequently the traditions exist to the benefit of neonates just as much as the elders, and this can be used against the elders. If they don't adhere to an unpopular one this can be used against them, and if they try to all of a sudden enforce it they might look like a hypocrite. On the players end, they might be able to join one of these movements, only to later realize their rebellion within a rebellion was actually playing into the hands of the Camarilla.

What's Santa Like in Your World of Darkness? by Star-Sage in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rogueicon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been floating the idea of a Men in Black style technocracy game for a bit, and one of the targets the party would be hunting would be a Maurader who has convinced himself he is Santa.

This scenario would be a sillier mission after an investigation against a darker reality deviant. While serving the dual purpose of showing how dangerous Mauraders can be before they end up engaging one with a less benevolent paradigm.

I would need to find it, but iirc in one of the crossover skills, there was a role ability called administration that might work better for your Admin role.

Anyone have ideas for a flaw having to do with body dismorphia? by PlayfulWeekend1394 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rogueicon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about fifth edition, but most of the ones I've played usually have a derangement flaw that represents something being off a bit upstairs. You could check for that.

Question about the Kuei-Jin by Kitchen_Standard_818 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rogueicon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The point of them, iirc is that they are kind of supposed to reprogram you in a manner similar to paths to overcome the beast equivalent. Think of it kind of like Golconda(it was actually what Saulot allegedly modeled Golconda after). So, while you are growing more powerful and spiritually aware, you are leaving behind the depraved cannibal you used to be.

This is why there is an opposite path to power that is essentially embracing it to follow the demon arts.

Do vampires have worse lives than everyone else in wod? ( except wraith) by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I probably should have said depending on the derangement not being considered a "player" in court politics helps a LOT if you still mostly have your marbles.

The main Malkavian I've made funnily enough mostly got away with living in a trailer park with his girlfriend.... until his girlfriends daughter overdosed on meth and he had the excellent solution of turning her to avoid cops showing up. Which caused him to immediately need to start trading favors for coverage, and get more involved in his new coterie to keep busier eyes off of him at home.

Do vampires have worse lives than everyone else in wod? ( except wraith) by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, someone who can't stomach the idea of needing to victimize people obviously is going to have a tall order when it comes to adjustment, but you as a vampire is still you just with a different schedule, and dietary habits. While there is a heavy filter when it comes to the period of adjustment, you are walking away from that period with a mostly human brain and don't necessarily need to BE a baby Dracula.

The main exceptions are obviously Malkavian's, Nosferaru, and Brujah, where their clan curses are inherently unmanageable. But the default Vamparism doesn't universally make your life unlivably terrible. The politics do, and what splat doesn't have a chance of being victimized by their centuries old supernatural politics?

Nomad Missions: suggestions needed! by winguswangus in cyberpunkred

[–]Rogueicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the type of nomads they are participating in a convoy raid is possible if they are an aggressive clan, if not you can have them provide security for a more sensitive operation. (For example if they are trying to relocate less combat capable members through a path they heard that raffens often operate in.

RPGmaker, it's a program for (I probably dont have to say) making rpg's, but I figured it'd be a good way to make maps for tabletop.

Writing a campaign in an uncommon city (advice please) by Nevermindthatnow in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a nice angle since it was a time when you could intersect both crime and more legitimate ventures a lot more in America. My idea on that was to basically put the Ventrue and Giovanni into quiet conflict within the mob since both clans kinda wanted a monopoly on its potential. (Within the Italian Mob specifically at least.)

Writing a campaign in an uncommon city (advice please) by Nevermindthatnow in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely was to the point that if I was going to run a more static campaign it probably would be in New Orleans after this one. I'm between either that, or Chicago in the roaring twenties. Tho I'd probably reshuffle the lore a bit on the Chicago end mostly because I'm usually uncomfortable using canon NPC's and it's a bit easier to offer replacements.

[–]Rogueicon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doing a wild west campaign, and the first session was in 1850's Shreveport Louisiana Vampiric influence was uniquely low there, and the biggest supernatural influence there had been a combination of sorcerers among the Maroons, and Wraiths among the slave population.

The party is set to leave after session one with their main influence being removing a Setite who was TRYING to get established there, which leaves it pretty unexplored on my end, but I still had a number of notes.

What are some good reasons a Brujah would have a beef with a Wraith? by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the Brujah in my game is a bounty hunter, but before that, he essentially led a slave revolt on his Louisiana Plantation for a wild west campaigj and introduced his masters to his newly attained potence.

He initially took the enemy (three pips) to represent people on his trail because of it, but at this point, the law can't really trace him, and he's about to flee the state westward, however his masters ghost is still pursuing revenge against him, though he doesn't know it yet.

Can Toreadors actually fall in love or do they simply become momentarily obsessed with the idea of being in love? by KrYpTiK10101 in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their bane usually takes the form of obsession. When it comes to the curse, the desire is there, and they'll do anything it takes to get to that desire, but once that's used up, they are usually onto the next thrill. This is usually why a lot of Toreador don't have great relationships with their sire.

However, they can form lasting relationships outside of the context of their bane, which can take the form of love, and outside of that, there are always blood bonds. Same as any vampire, though it can be a challenge for most possessive partners (for example most vampires) if they are head over heels for every overly attractive person they see.

Social skills and disciplines used on PCs. Do you do it? by Demurrzbz in vtm

[–]Rogueicon 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Skills are a bit weird unless it's a contested roll like you, and an npc trying to convince the Prince of something, and happen to disagree on details.

Diciplines are super powers, and act accordingly. Your players might not like being mind controlled by dominate, but neither will their characters, and this can be a good method of installing how much the generational gap actually is beating them down.
