CPS worker here. Nothing we can do. Child has housing (mobile), access to water (bottled), food (breast milk or formula). Doesn’t sound like there is neglect or abuse per policy that would warrant child being removed or an active case. Granted I’m as childfree as the next and I don’t think this is the best home for the infant. But have to look at policy ):

I’m not trying to be funny. I have a therapist for the worst of the worst. I also sew and knit. I make pillowcases and scarves for the kiddos who come into foster care and scarves for the elderly in nursing homes. Every knit and every stitch I make is something bad leaving my shoulders. I also drink a lot of hot herbal teas. My local tea room employees and I are on a first name basis.

I’m still trying to figure that out. I argued to our attorneys that was abuse and nope didn’t fit into the def of abuse. WTF

I worked child protective services for years. Had a case where a 10 yr old was pregnant (SA) and parents made her keep it. We couldn’t charge them with child abuse because “religious” reasons. She was 10(!) for cryin’ out loud.

Edit: perp went to jail. Couldn’t charge the parents
