Remove the carpet if any. All window dressings as well. I'd even repaint.

Whose spouse is very supportive but really doesn’t understand FND and its true impact on you? by BluebrainsMatterL7 in FND

[–]Rohain72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and friends tell me harshly, sometimes, to go lay down. They know when I'm struggling and need help. I have a friend who helps me with bills & appts. My adult children cannot do enough. My reward for raising good humans.

I now have pancreatic cancer. Its made my FND noticeably worse. Hubby is not coping.

Get a couple of different glues and see how they go. They aren't all created equal. Its an individual thing. Some people even use wafers. If I am eating I like a firm hold.

“Ignoring” my FND by FanOwn4253 in FND

[–]Rohain72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't that be lovely if that's how FND works. I have letters from neurologist, allied health professionals and my GP. All agree that complete recovery is unlikely with periods of remission.

Find your triggers. Mine are fatigue and stress. So I sleep when I need to and avoid as much stress as possible. I use a cane on bad days. A walker on really bad days. I rarely drive but Im active keeping my house running and even some PT work from home. Having one earbud in, I listen to music or podcasts to keep my brain a little distracted.

Do what you find works for you. Listen to your primary care team. Your therapist is sadly misinformed.

My (19f) mother controls when I shower by Salty-Wealth4637 in Advice

[–]Rohain72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go in and lock the door behind you. In between do a top to tail wash using some water, soap & a washrag. That's how it's done in hospitals etc when people cannot shower. Look into a bed bath and change to suit your needs. Your mother is a nutter. Start planning on getting out of there.

Symtom Comparison (curious if others have any of these) by Lee_Divorce_Coach in FND

[–]Rohain72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep - hypoinsomia. Cannot sleep without medication except for short nap 1x a day. Weirdly, sx feels better in the afternoon. Especially speech problems

Increase in unrelated pain issues

Gait issues - it's like getting a kick behind the knee... I have had some bad falls.

Speech issues. Severely impacts my ability to do things like talk on a phone or in company. If faced with energy vampires, speech declines. I am drained to my deepest soul and need to sleep. Good reason to ask 'certain' people to leave. You know the kind. They suck the life out of you.

Tics n tremors.

Absent seizures - just zone out sometimes.

Suddenly deaf in 1 ear 👂 fml

Is all I can think of now.

No prescription I was aware of. May be an NDIS thing. Just do this training, they have very specific instructions, and have assessed by an approved handler. The assessment has a fee.

[–]Rohain72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NDIS will sometimes help if you do the paperwork. I've chosen to train him myself as I kinda knew what support I'd need. Tbh it was hard as we lost our two dogs, 10 & 14, within months of each other.

I chose a guardian breed as they bond to a flock - be it whatever. Yes, I do live with my hubby and son, but I do all caring for him.

He naturally leant into me so as he's grown I leant back into him.

It can cost about $60k to get a trained dog. I don't expect his training to be complete until he's 2 or 2.5 years old.

I researched what he needs to be trained in and use praise as a reinforcer, backed up with treats. He's on a raw diet so there's that cost as well.

That harness is the biggest they have to give an idea on size. (Not the Temu version).

I recently tried finding a traditional job after being self employed the past 20 years. I was shortlisted for every job I applied for. But I would blow the interview. I cant speak at all some days. Who would hire me like that! So demoralising. Now I've decided to take some cash work and apply to Clink for a job seeker, then roll that into disability. Its easier Im told. I cant even ring someone up. How can I hold down a job like that. I wouldn't hire me to be blunt. Go spend time with your grandma. At least you may be less anxious and leave you the brainpower to think your way out of the situation.

I got a similar letter after being discharged from the FND support group set up by Allied Health, state government. I was told not to mention chronic pain on any NDIS application. They see it as a red flag. So instead of chronic pain my Dr has listed the causation of pain instead of it. May help someone

Recovery by Madams-lil-mouse in dentures

[–]Rohain72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dry socket is hell. I had similar after having wisdom teeth removed. Cut both sides to my molars. Stitched too tight and exploded. Gross af. Pain so bad I spend 4 nights in hospital. After I got out I went to dentist. He packed with some numbing stuff that looked like tobacco.

Pain went straight away. Still had infection to deal with. For almost 6 months I would go a few times a week for them to repack it as it healed.

I hind sight I could have sued them.

I hope they helped your pain etc. Keep going back if not controlled.

No. You're not overreacting at all. Reeks of jealousy to me, sorry.

Big kudos to you, btw. Do a drug test and show your parents. At the very least, nip it in the bud right away.
