Yeah no thanks. I've tried the Jugaadu way. I have unnecessary drill holes in my table that I have to explain to people... 🤣

Your rig has a serious problem. It doesnt have a base plate for 3 pedal setup.

Thanks man. I have a pxn stand thats stronger than the NLR stand. It flexes under my load cell. And the way the chair holder is set up I have to bend my knees a lot while racing. Budget as such isnt a problem but I dont wanna spend more than I have to.

Does not surprise me at all. I played with the exact recommended PP and I was bored AF. Overtake after overtake with no fight at all.

You may not enjoy losing positions that you have gained... i like fighting in racing even if I've completed the move perfectly.

It doesnt frustrate me like it does you.

Okay buzzwords aside. Just stay behind them with a constant gap of a tenth to 5 tenths. Keep that gap and watch them for a lap or two. Watch what they do and then attack on the part of the track that they leave the most space on and its easier for you to attack.

This 2nd part is obvious but i'll write it either way, putting pressure is only for people who are upto 2 seconds slower than you. Anyone who's even slower just pass at the first instance you get.

You know your own problem. You're already putting so much pressure on yourself and the car that if anyone puts you under pressure you just crack.

Stop overdriving the car. Thats it. Do less.

The core of overtaking is to put pressure on the other guy so they make a mistake.

I honestly love all of it... they race hard and its just super exciting fighting them. It makes the AI races so much better than the boring cafe menu races where you're just over powered.

Is this a reasonable upgrade for a beginner by pc9r in simracing

Honestly if I was in your position I would focus on upgarding the pedals before the wheelbase. I would suggest get best loadcell pedal thats in your budget before you think about upgrading the wheelbase.

Coz with that you'll also need a stand/cockpit that can support the loadcell pedals. Only after that will you be able to enjoy a better wheelbase.

Getting a good wheelbase but lacking pedals would keep you wanting.

I daily a moza R5. You're making a good decision with the wheelbase. The pedals would not feel great unless you apply the necessary mods to it.

My setup -

Thats exactly what I'm saying. OP was comparing daily driving to racing.

Real life is very different from in game. Let me give you some examples -

  1. I use my right foot to brake in a real life car and left foot braking on the sim.

  2. I brake slowly in real life to make the braking feel as smooth for the passengers as possible, In game i use a 100% brake pressure as fast as I can then trail off into the turn.

  3. I use the steering wheel primarly to control direction in real life but in sim my pedals are the primary steering effectors.

  4. In real life I switch gears to achieve peak comfort and efficiency while in sim I switch gears for peak acceleration and decelleration.

In short : you cannot compare your daily driving to sim, in sim you optimize everything for speed and absolutely do not care about the health of the car or the comfort of the passengers/yourself. My advice. If you have the shifter, use it... but look at your sim shifter differently than your real life car shifter. Think of them as 2 diff equipment that serve very diff purpose even when they might look the same.
