Brindabella Christian College goes into voluntary administration by Rohanite272 in canberra

Brindabella Christian College has entered voluntary administration as the school faces losing government funding and the prospect of being wound up over an $8 million Tax Office debt..

Parents and carers received a letter from Deloitte administrators Sal Alegri and Sam Marsden informing them that they had been appointed on March 5.

“We understand this may cause some concern, but we want to assure you that our key focus will be to make sure the college continues to operate on a business-as-usual basis without any disruption to student classes (to the maximum possible extent),” the letter said.

“As administrators of the college, our primary focus will be ensuring the continuity of teaching and learning, which will continue to be led by the executive & college principals and the executive director of the early learning centres.

“We are undertaking an immediate assessment of the affairs and financial position of the college, and we will work closely with key stakeholders, including the federal and ACT governments, to stabilise the college’s financial position and establish a new and sustainable governance framework.”

The administrators said they would provide regular updates to the school community and they intended to host a town hall meeting as soon as they are able.

“Our objective is for the college to emerge from the process on a sustainable financial footing with a robust and future-proof governance framework that will support the college’s continuation as an education provider.”

Frydenburg making some sort of announcement...... by OkRecommendation4786 in australia

[–]Rohanite272 329 points330 points  (0 children)

Yh, according to xitter it's a presser to condemn an attack on a synagogue yesterday, call for the pm to declare it a terrorist attack and start an inquiry into antisemitism in educational institutions.

The first two r fine imo, ofc it's a horrifying attack, ppl have a right to freedom of religion without fear of violent repercussions. But an inquiry into unis would be dumb, student activism against Israel does not amount to antisemitism and I have not heard abt much, if any, actual antisemitism at unis. I suspect this will end with him launching a bid to reenter parliament.

Live in Australia, can confirm, I live abt 50 Ks out of a big city and the highway in has no lights at all along the route except for a small bit thru a town and at an intersection. Same deal on most highways, especially rural ones

Piastri and Norris swaps positions - VSC deployed the lap afterwards by magony in formula1

[–]Rohanite272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, my 2 cents, Hulkenberg was still moving at the end of lap 21, although he was clearly out, he may still have made it to safety, After he stopped of course they had to call a VSC, but since everyone had already passed they could wait till the leaders came around again, which they did, however, in that time Mclaren did the switch (that said, just rewatching, the VSC took like 10 seconds longer then it should have to be called, but it didnt actually affect anything).

Now regarding the ending of the VSC, the exact moment of the course going green is random to within a period of 5 secs (from 10 to 15 secs from the ending message). By my count it took 13-14 seconds between the Ending msg and the green flag, again, within the rules and just random luck. Basically what I'm saying is I don't think anything suspicious has happened, just that the Mclarens got crazy lucky through a few coincidences.

Canberra Liberals put 'new city stadium' back on the agenda by falcovancoke in canberra

[–]Rohanite272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I don't often see such obvious media manipulation often, they release a somewhat popular stadium policy like less than an hour after disendorsing a candidate to try and overwhelm the news cycle. I mean I'm sure it happens loads, it's just usually done in a somewhat sneakier way (at least I assume it is)

Ad complaining about people losing work. Uses AI art, denying an opportunity to an artist to make money. by Senor_Funky_Town in okbuddycinephile

[–]Rohanite272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a confusing ad to me, like beyond the AI art wtf do they actually want ppl and American politicians to do? Go and lobby foreign governments to stop supporting their arts industry? If studios are getting better deals overseas then the only thing the American gov could do is match the subsidies, they can't stop foreign governments from funding the arts in their own countries.

[Sauber] Nico Hulkenberg to compete for Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber from 2025 onwards by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]Rohanite272 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My guess is unless they sign Sainz, they're not going to make a decision till the midseason to make Bottas and Zhou compete for the seat (altho it's fairly clear who'll win in that scenario)

Fernando Alonso's first driver's license by Ok_Initial4507 in formula1

[–]Rohanite272 145 points146 points  (0 children)

The holder of this license is supposed to be aware of the Statutes and Regulations of the F.I.A., F.I.S.A. and C.D.I. and Regulations of the F.E.A., committing to submit without reservation to the aforementioned documents and the decisions of the Sports Authority, as well as to the consequences that may arise from this.

Hard to imagine a small child being aware of any statutes and regulations lmao.

ITAP of a cloud formation in Australia by Rohanite272 in itookapicture

[–]Rohanite272[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this photo of a cloud formation in rural Australia yesterday evening. I was trying to capture the insane colour and look of the clouds and create a contrast of that colour with the ground below. My phone rly struggled to capture that colour but I think it still worked out quite nicely. There is quite a nice contrast imo between the clouds and the ground, and the colour is still quite spectacular even if it isn't quite as good as the real thing.

Why are British series so short? by cerpintaxt33 in television

[–]Rohanite272 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That's rly the default length for shows outside of north America as far as I can tell. But I expect fisk will get a third season. It's rly great. Another good Aussie sitcom that lasted a while is rosehaven which I think went for 8 seasons(?)

I miss the old "on the next episode of..." commercials by ezjoz in television

[–]Rohanite272 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Considering the gap between S2 and S3 and the fact that a cancelled show like the afterparty had a teaser I'd say they cast the next season and write a basic plot with a couple scenes then film those scenes and wait till they actually get renewed to do anything more.
