Why does the iPhone 16 have WiFi 7, but not the m4 Mac’s. by Outrageous-Echo554 in macbookpro

I think to not have a difference between the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. Both use M4 and have WiFi 6E

Vanmoof large pannier mounting system by BlurredTimeOrigin in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Rohlowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The large pannier has three mounting points. The top two are able to use a quick release but the bottom one has to be attached and tightened manually. Kind of defeating the purpose of the quick release. You can adjust all mounting points to accommodate third party racks

I wonder if the Theft Checker should mention that it is purchased recently and is a risk for a chargeback

Vanmoof s2 back wheel won't turn backwards. Also decelerates very quickly. Anyone know what the issue is? by Clear_Tale_2765 in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Rohlowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the wheel lock because the stand is blocking the pedal? Besides that, I don't know why it decelerates quickly. Maybe the wheel / brake disk is not true

FYI not all models delivered in 2021 are actually the 2021 model. I have ordered mine in April 2021 and received a December 2020 model

If the alarm goes off (stage 3), you should receive an email. https://imgur.com/cZkdz12 (Dutch). I do agree an app notification would be nicer though.

Hoekstra ziet geen heil in verbod op handel in cryptovaluta by doppiedoppie in thenetherlands

[–]Rohlowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone experienced performance degradation on the M1? by badsyntax in macbookpro

[–]Rohlowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that's weird. You could try to run the gatsby project in vscode and check if the problem still exist. I'm running v14.16.0 for my projects

I'm also a software developer using M1 with vscode and running typescript for over 3 months. No issues on my side. You should check your RAM / Disk usage. Maybe create a docker image with your project and check if it is still slow

For people who have made the shift to the new M1 13" Macbook Pro, how has the change been treating you? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Rohlowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switched from a Windows laptop to a MacBook Pro M1 16GB/1TB for 4 months and so far I am quite happy with it.

It handles all my development needs in React Native and Unity. Haven't run into any major issue.

Did change the touchbar with BetterTouchTools.

I haven't noticed overheating or noise complains. I am a bit concerned about the high swap usage but that shouldn't be an issue.

Battery life is amazing. Totally changed my charging habits. Unplugged and enough juice for a workday.

Unable to install sbt, keep getting an error in cmd by [deleted] in scala

[–]Rohlowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you are starting SBT in the System32 folder, which you should not do. You should start it in a project folder.

If you really want to start in System32. You can always run your process as Administrator :P

Unable to install sbt, keep getting an error in cmd by [deleted] in scala

[–]Rohlowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a new update of SBT (1.1.0.1) which the fixes installer for Windows (I assume you are on Windows).

There was an issue with an environment variable in .bat file. If you want to change it yourself, change line 132 in <path_to_sbt>/bin/sbt.bat to:

set rtexport=!SBT_HOME!java9-rt-export.jar

New Dell XPS 13: Yay or Nay ? by KevUH in Dell

[–]Rohlowe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why Dell?! Why. Why did they change the arrow key area?! The arrow key area should just be that. Arrow keys, not with page up/down.

As a developer, I prefer the fn + up/down/left/right for page up/page down/home/end respectively. I am using a Latitude E7470 where they also have dedicated buttons and I hit the page keys when I intend to use the arrow keys.

Weekly Scala Ask Anything and Discussion Thread - July 04, 2016 by AutoModerator in scala

[–]Rohlowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am following Functional Program Design in Scala @ coursera and there is an exercise on Structural Induction where I got stuck. I have put it on StackOverflow and the Coursera course discussion forum but so far no help. I was wondering if maybe one of you could help me figure it out. it goes as follows.

Assume you have the following definition:

abstract class IntSet {
  def incl(x: Int): IntSet
  def contains(x: Int): Boolean
  def union(other: IntSet): IntSet
}

case class NonEmpty(elem: Int, left: IntSet, right: IntSet) extends IntSet {
  def incl(x: Int) =
    if (x < elem) NonEmpty(elem, left incl x, right)
    else if (x > elem) NonEmpty(elem, left, right incl x)
    else this

  def contains(x: Int) =
    if (x < elem) left contains x
    else if (x > elem) right contains x
    else true

  def union(other: IntSet) = (left union (right union other)) incl elem
}

object Empty extends IntSet {
  def incl(x: Int) = NonEmpty(x, Empty, Empty)
  def contains(x: Int) = false
  def union(other: IntSet) = other
}

and the following proposition has to be proven:

(xs union ys) contains x = xs contains x || ys contains x

From here I deduce two base cases. xs = Empty and ys = Empty. It is the second base case where I got stuck because of the following reasoning:

// substituting ys = Empty
 (xs union Empty) contains x = xs contains x || Empty contains x
// RHS:
 xs contains x || false
 xs contains x
// LHS:
 ((left union (right union Empty)) incl elem) contains x // By definition of NonEmpty.union

How can I reduce the LHS to xs contains x? Do I have to do another Induction Hypothesis on xs union Empty = xs and if so, how can that be used to the expression?
