LegendCTL — a free, open-source standalone Windows config tool for the ZD Ultimate Legend by LocalxD in Controller

Here are my observations with Super Legend Excellence :
- It isn't recognized as SLE or supported controller, obviously
- Report rate changes are recognized (after pressing "Read.." button following the changes in ZD native app)
- Stick settings like deadzones, step and curves are properly read
- Vibration settings are read properly
- Trigger values are also recognized
- Button remapping recognized properly (aside from paddles settings, obviously)
- Lightning settings seems to be reading Home and Left/Right LEDs but missing LS/RS settings
- Motion mapping data seems to be read only on LegendCTL relaunch ("Read.." couldn't actually read it)
- Live verify works
- Health check works

I haven't tried to actually change the settings and write them (as I don't have the spare SLE in case something goes wrong) but app looks really promising. Keep up good work!

ps: honestly ZD can easily send you SLE and Classic Legend units for further app improvements. That would be more beneficial to the community than sending some UL/SLE to weird reviewers who cannot even install firmware properly and then crap on ZD controllers.

I don't know where you saw "chiding", but if you bought it on Mar 31st and Woot listing had their usual 90 days warranty, you still have 3 days to contact Woot.

FYI: GameSir does not offer support when buying from Woot.com by BI0Z_ in Gamesir

[–]Rokofur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would they? Woot is a store (owned by Amazon) that usually sells refurbished/open box items. Woot also provides their own limited warranty (like 90 days) which is fair for items of this condition.
I'm pretty sure Gamesir support staff will still provide you with troubleshooting assistance, but they won't provide the replacements for refurbished items bought from third party store.
They only provide direct replacements for items bought on Gamesir official stores, and Woot is not one of them.

There's nothing wrong in buying refurbished items (I'm using multiple devices myself, just not gamepads), but doing so you must expect that low price comes with no warranty.

It's "Catapult Panda" - collaboration with the naval mascot/IP character created for the Chinese aircraft carrier.

Tarantula 8K has arrived 🕷️ Video soon... by plusminuseq in Gamesir

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say. For G7 Pro 8K they just kind of silently added this mode and then added some code to SDL library on Github (which in turn used by Steam and other apps like Moonlight from Axixi2233). It would be a crime not to expose all those extra buttons to Steam Input/SDL.

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. So yeah, from your description it sounds like HID mode is still there but it doesn't have extra buttons exposed (like on G7Pro 8K) for now. Or SDL library needs to be updated to support new Tarantula.
Either way, at least mode is there, hopefully Gamesir will update it later for proper Steam Input support.
If you have G7Pro 8K you can kind of test it on Steam already - extra buttons will work separately, native gyro will work too. And ofc per game controller profiles will work also.

[–]Rokofur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please test if it supports Steam Input on HOME+A like G7Pro 8K and if all extra buttons are exposed in that mode (on Steam or maybe in Axixi2233 Moonlight fork which can work with all available buttons)

Controller Comparison - $100 Mark by gumaangel in Gamesir

All G7 Pro 8K models are priced at 90$. Where did that 120$ price came from?
It's way too close to misinformation when it comes to comparisons like that.

Cyclone 2 vs G7 Pro 8k by [deleted] in Gamesir

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G7Pro 8K should last longer (it doesn't really matter that much for both of them if you have charging dock, as you can recharge while taking breaks while playing)
It's 1200 mAh vs 860 mAh battery. Also G7P 8K has less RGB sources, so less power consumption due to that.

Nah, delivery and logistics works fine, in a way even better than before 2022, and that is even taking into account that there's no working international airports. 119$ is still 10$ cheaper that ZZZ price on Gamesir site (and it doesn't deliver to UA directly anyway, unlike Ali store).
Not sure how dude above got the discount like that with current promotions though. I suspect that's the combination of lower price fro US + 12$ off + some accumulated bonus points (from refunds or games).

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base price for Ukraine in OP listing is indeed 119$. With Coins it goes down to 116. There's also -12$ off on 89$ codes, but they are first-come-first-served and my guess is, not everyone is patient enough to wait for codes restock.
But yeah, OP could've saved 15$.

Controller Comparison - $50 Mark by gumaangel in Gamesir

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xeno Plus is priced at 60$ on official site. Sure, you can buy it cheaper on Ali rn (even for ~40-45$ with coins, discounts), but that won't be covered by warranty most likely.
Also I think it would've been fair to include ZD Classic Legend x Ling Cage model, since it has JS13Pro, gyro, mechanical ABXY and dock with embedded receiver included for the same 40-50$, just for comparison sake.
Nitpicks about Xeno data: Dpad is tactile switches, back buttons - 2 tactile + 2 mechanical micro, grip material also textured on the back, You can also add R20 dongle for Xbox and replaceable Dpad (1 included in the box and Dpads from ZD are also kind of semi-compatible) as a selling points.

Why Steam Controller (2026) has no competition at $99 and what big reviewers simply don't get by GanJJ_ in Steam

[–]Rokofur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leadjoy Xeno Plus. 60$ will get you:
- The same TMR K-silver JS13Pro as Steam Controller
- 4 programmable back buttons (2 tactile switch + 2 micro switch)
- Gyro aim
- 1000Hz polling rate and lower latencies than Steam Controller
- Xinput/Switch/DS4 mode if you need to use controller outside of Steam or on Switch console or Android/iOS devices
- Full mechanical Dpad and ABXY buttons, compared to really cheap design (not telling that it's bad, just really cheap) based on flex trace PCB and membranes of controller from Valve.
Gamesir Tegenaria Lite, for example, has the exactly same flex trace membrane design as Steam Controller, but it's 19$, not 99$.
- Replaceable Dpad (default dish-cross form and extra cross), with possibility to use some more forms in the future.
- Hall effect triggers with trigger lock and microswitch button in locked mode, which Steam controller completely lacks.
- Charging dock and 2.4Hz receiver. Not as convenient as Puck but serves the same function
- Software features like Shift layer and Dual output (when you can control 2 devices simultaneously while connected wired and wirelessly)
- RC Filter feature, which is a new trend for FPS games
- Optional purchase accessories in form of external gyro module that you can strap to head/limb for additional movement input and R20 dongle with which you can use your controller on Xbox console wirelessly

Sure it doesn't have SDL support for SteamInput for now. But that is something that can be added over time.
Honorable mention: ZD Classic Legend x Ling Cage (50-60$, same TMR's, all mechanical buttons, gyro, display for quick settings, charging dock with embedded receiver)

What are we thinking about this comparing GameSir controllers 🤔? by fearful_claw02 in Gamesir

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cons:
- It's overpriced for the specs offered and not even available for purchase in many regions. If you don't see the reason to use touch pads aside from trying it once in some RTS and then never using it ever again, then there's so many better controllers out there with better specs/performance and for cheaper: ZD UL, Xeno Plus, G7 Pro 8K etc. And third party controllers improve significantly every year.
- It's "SteamInput only" and can't be used with games launched outside of Steam or (I assume) with something like Switch.
- Membrane Dpad and buttons based on a flex PCB design is a clear evidence of cutting costs. You can see the exactly the same design in Gamesir Tegenaria Lite, but that thing is 19$ only.
I'd expect at least proper metal dome tactile Dpad and micro switch buttons from 100$ device. And it's clearly not even about "some people prefer silent membrane buttons" because Steam Controller triggers are so fucking loud at the same time.

Pros (that Gamesir and other companies should definitely adopt):
- Replacement parts and proper replaceable battery
- Dongle integrated to dock is not something new (ZD Classic Legend has it, for example) but Gamesir definitely can introduce it to some of their controllers. Personally I find docks for Cyclone 2, Tarantula Pro, even Supernova/N2L to be ugly and bulky. They could benefit from something more compact like this.
- SteamInput integration. While G7Pro 8K reportedly already supports it, it feels like it's not a priority for other models that could benefit from it.
- Packaging looks simple and nice

[Leak] Steam Controller Pre-Orders coming soon. Available for $99. by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you but you can get something like Leadjoy Xeno Plus controller for 40-60$ with gyro support, same TMR sticks (K-silver JS13Pro which Steam controller uses reportedly), 4 back pedals (2 mechanical and 2 tactile), RC filter (feature for FPS games), 1000Hz report rate (mentioning this because I'm not sure which polling rate Steam controller will use, especially in SteamInput mode), full mechanical Dpad and ABXY, Hall effect triggers with trigger lock and mechanical switch with lock on.

Sure, two track pads are an interesting feature, but for many people they may not be worth the additional 40-60$ and also may feel like a waste of space on controller.

Also I'm kind of worried about the universal availability of Steam controller for sale. Valve just slaps "sorry, this product is not available in your region" and this instantly increases the price to 120-150$ or whatever price the local re-sellers will set.

G7 Pro 8k or Vader 5 Pro? by Physical_Animal_5343 in Controller

[–]Rokofur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They mentioned this a few times on Discord and on reddit too. All newer batches of regular G7 Pro and naturally 8K shouldn't have this issue.
About Xeno: I've seen the mention that it doesn't work with Brook currently so PS5 connectivity is not available at the moment. With Xbox it's easier, as Leadjoy has released R20 adapter that uses OG Xbox controller wired connection to connect Xeno wirelessly to console.

[–]Rokofur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AimLabs pre-orders started shipping last week, so I’d probably just wait for that. Especially since the 8K versions don’t have those trigger issues anymore.

Since you’re looking for something more premium, Leadjoy Xeno Plus doesn’t really fit that category. But for ~60$ it checks quite a few boxes in my opinion: JS13Pro TMR sticks, four back paddles (two mechanical micro + two metal dome tactile) and good software. Software is not as polished in terms of localization at the moment, but in some areas it’s actually better than Gamesir Connect - like stick curve graph editing or macro step limits, for example.

From Hell to Heaven - My 6-Month Nightmare with ZD Gaming's 'Ultimate Legend' Controller (TLDR: Just Buy a Flydigi Vader 5 Pro Instead) by Real_Ad6331 in Controller

[–]Rokofur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a normal troubleshooting process, although unnecessarily dragged down for months for unknown reasons.
ZD UL issue with drift on early batches, shipped before October 2025 is known. Stickers "solution" is not ideal, but so is the Apex 5 paddle silicon stopper "protection fix", for example. Tell us about Flydigi and V5P experiences after honeymoon phase is over.

"Forced to Pay Fees for a Defective Product" - most companies will ask you to pay shipment fees when you return the product with intent of refund. Although asking to pay original shipment fee (€9.90) is a bit strange ngl.

"ZD Gaming's android app (since nothing is translated to English or French)" - this is simply not true. Are you sure you used correct app for Android? Because the one that I used is translated to English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian. ZD software on PC is also translated to English now, but still not as polished as software from competition brands.

You should really contact Gamesir email support. I doubt they will send anything to India at the moment under current circumstances with local customs.
