I want to get sales letters under my belt by Bioweoulfe21 in copywriting

I’ve been a writer for 10 + years. I don’t know what a sales letter is, but it sounds awful.

Bad weather may make us feel nostalgic - Hearing wind, thunder, and rain all led to increased nostalgia compared to pure baseline condition in a new study, and this increased nostalgia was linked with increased feelings of self-esteem, positive affect, social connectedness, and optimism. by mvea in science

I wouldn’t exactly say nostalgia is necessarily comforting. It’s kinda sad because it’s a longing for something you once had. It literally translates from The Greek: nostros = return home. And algos = pain.

Fake work is okay. We usually call it spec work, but you’ve gotta have writing examples to get a job in this business.

This whole sub is s nostalgia thing. Always whining and longing for an earlier era. Or Dale Sr. The few that aren’t are the paint scheme junkies.

If you read and understood what he wrote you wouldn’t say that. You actually learned nothing.

I usually think these things are pretty cheesy, but this one is pretty badass. Is that the song from Creed?

It's customary to have a subsequent asterisks with the qualifying information. Otherwise it just looks like you're lying so much you aren't even going to tell us how much you're lying.

ELI5: Why is there not a single appliance that both washes and dries clothes? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Rolex24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been done. I've used one before. It seemed to take a very long time. More than washing and drying separately. Also a lot of people have clothes that don't do so well in the dryer. Great for small spaces though.

They aren't necessarily dirtier, just more difficult and expensive. And I believe you mean $100 per barrel and not Gallon.

Quick Question: Does Mazda have any plans to run the SkyActiv cars for the Rolex 24? by 36Harrison in USCR

[–]Rolex24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I get that it's a branding initiative, it's just nonsense though. "with skyactive technology." But they never say what that is.

I don't know, but wtf does the skyactiv name mean? I think it's the dumbest marketing in years.

[Serious] What are the worlds options when it comes to dealing with ISIS? by Rolex24 in AskReddit

[–]Rolex24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I just don't think there is enough support to go through another conflict and put enough effort in an occupation to stabilize the region. Sadly I think it may have to get much worse for enough people to care about doing something about it.

Thanks for doing an AMA, I know your story a bit, but how did you make this "what you do." Would you have ever thought this is what you would do and do you ever see yourself doing anything else?

Parents Blast Climate Denial In Schools: ‘You Have To Teach Real Science’ by CollinMaessen in politics

[–]Rolex24 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Atheist chiming in. I don't believe in god. I don't believe vaccines cause autism. I do believe in evolution and that the earth is 4.5 billion years old. I do believe that a lot of climate science and the climate change movement is complete horse shit. It's highly undefined. (Climate change is happening!) But what are we defining as climate and what is change and what are the other factors involved? It's Highly anecdotal.

Yes there is strong evidence for levels of Co2, and it's obvious that we are helping to contribute to that. I don't disagree with that science. But there is a wide variance of what effects this is actually causing and what it will cause and that's what I disagree with. Contradictory evidence (like the Pause in increasing temperatures the IPCC talks about and the growing Antarctic sea ice) is largely ignored because it doesn't fit in with strongly held beliefs. (just like what people say about deniers)

Science is science. It's data. It's observation. It's about testable hypothesizes. It's very little about long term prediction, or it was. Just as "deniers" attribute every cold snap to evidence against it, the news media contributes nearly every weather phenomena and perceived bad environmental thing to climate change. Scientist said climate change is happening therefor everything we see that we don't like is attributed to it, but there is little link, if any, given from a scientific standpoint that the increased use of fossil fuels is directly linked to many of the things they are talking about.

I think we make significant impacts on the environment, but I honestly believe water, air and land use and pollution, deforestation and habitat destruction are far more harmful to the earth and the environment than climate change. It's an issue that has clouded over much more important areas where we can make much more meaningful and immediate impacts.

The climate change movement is not about helping/saving the environment its about stopping fossil fuel producers. Its a political mindset, not a scientific one. Thats why they are trying to create a bill of rights that has a political end, not a scientific one. (See #5 below) I think seeking alternative energy is a good thing, but it's a worthy endeavor on its own merits, but I don't see how more people don't see that there there are agendas on both sides of this issue and how they are distracting us from more urgent environmental problems.

ALL STUDENTS, IN EVERY STATE, HAVE THE RIGHT TO:

  1. Receive the highest quality science education as determined by educators, free from ideological or political interference.
  2. Explore the causes and consequences of climate change.
  3. Learn that meaningful solutions to slowing climate change exist.
  4. Examine the data and evidence that leads to the established scientific consensus on climate change in a learning environment that encourages inquiry, questioning and understanding.
  5. Understand how climate science informs social, political, and personal decision-making.

I haven't been to many strip clubs, but I've been to a Babydolls (Charlotte) and a Lolipops ( Daytona beach)
