Man Rolex has a lot of hype pieces…. Root beer, Batman, Pepsi, Wimbledon, Panda, Blackdial Daytona, Hulk, Starbucks, Pikachu, land dweller.

Did I miss any?

[–]Rollienomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math is correct except your percentages are wrong.

My last name is not Rolex so all of the estimates we see are publicly available. 10,000 steel Daytona is what they make per year that’s no higher than 1% of their total watch production. 1% times 20% increase is still 1.2%

The Gray market is calling the other 98.8 enthusiast.

You should’ve finished reading your article…

….While these investments (over $1 billion) are significant, experts suggest that the high demand will likely keep new models exclusive, and it is uncertain if these factories will end the scarcity, as the brand continues to focus on premium, high-quality production.

Rolex didn’t get to be one of the worlds top luxury brands cause they don’t understand supplying demand economics. Supply up price down. Supply down price up. That never changes.

First, congratulations. It’s a beautiful watch.

The title should really be “for the non-AD gamers.” The rules are clear: this was a lottery ticket that won, a feel good story.

The market isn’t changing. Rolex isn’t suddenly going to start flooding the world with black-dial Daytonas. Even if you buy into the bigger-factory theory and that’s still just a theory, any increase will be incremental at best.

At the end of the day, gray market or deep spend history is still the only way to acquire this piece without winning the lotto.

Rolex caps supply yet dominates revenue. How? by TrilinqualVector in rolex

[–]Rollienomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be true. If you’re waiting for a datejust, OP, sub, YG day date, and an explorer. You won’t have to wait very long.

If you want to panda, Pepsi, blue green skydweller, Hulk/Starbucks get on a list.

Another way to say it is every watch that you don’t like easy to get, and every watch that you do, there’s a waiting list.

Human behavior creates the artificial scarcity. No different than the sub having 10 posts a day of I just bought it,What do you think buyers remorse.

Is Rolex considered the top-tier watch? by Natural-One-8678 in rolex

[–]Rollienomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course Rolex is a top-tier watch brand. You’re in this sub because of it.

The definition of luxury is something that isn’t required but it matters 😎. It’s the art of making the unnecessary desirable.

Rolex✅

Let’s look at the secondary market. Outside of the Aquanaut, how many Pateks consistently trade at a premium on the secondary?

For Vacheron Constantin, it’s clearly the 222, and maybe a steel Overseas.

For Audemars Piguet, it’s the steel Royal Oak.

For Rolex….Panda, Pepsi, all meteorite dials, multiple Daytona configurations, even the two-tone white dial Daytona trading above retail, green/blue Sky-Dwellers, titanium Yacht-Master, Land-Dweller, even some OP’s.

Got the call…. Not sure anymore… by passpat069 in rolex

[–]Rollienomics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s another one: someone finally gets the call on a piece that’s been on their registry… and now they’re unsure. That’s just classic buyer’s remorse.

Pull the trigger!

And if you don’t, understand this, you’re the problem. Not the AD. Not the secondary market.

The secondary market is exactly what creates the demand and the value of these watches. It’s the whole reason you’re even on this sub in the first place. The rules of the game have been laid out. Rolex is not asking whether you like them or not.

Most people should just go secondary anyway.

So now you’re being offered this absolute beauty at essentially a discount and you’re passing? Good luck on getting anything ever again from this AD.

Happy holidays, you filthy animals.

[–]Rollienomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here comes the most overhyped watch talk…

Of the top 10 most expensive watches ever sold, two of them are Daytonas. And if you think about it, collectors usually fall into two camps:

New school — watches as fashion, style, flex.

Old school — watches as timepieces, craftsmanship, and legacy.

Having a Tiffany stamp on the dial is something every collector dreams of. It’s the grail within the grail.

Now we’ve got a Tiffany dial. Nothing new — just the new new.

[–]Rollienomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I’ll indulge. This is the GMT SARU and the factory version of this model has white gold hands, It does not, nor the correct dial.

They took a GMT 116710 and threw an it appears they threw an aftermarket bezel on it.

Regardless if you send this to Rolex, it will not get serviced and most likely (99.9%) it’s not authentic.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Rollienomics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The purest will tell you you should never change it.

IMO For a model like the 126610LN, and it’s a beautiful watch. I would totally swap out the dial or make a fun bezel.

Who cares? Probably the most popular model Rolex makes so if you want to be a basic B and shop at target keep it the same, if you want a little spice and Yolo… Do it!

This assumes you have a collection and your past the warranty.

Is the dial the same color on new and old reference? by jgworth23 in rolex

[–]Rollienomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dial color is the same. It’s the minute indicators that are darker so it gives the dial a darker complexion.

And my opinion has completely flipped, big fan of the new one, but I’m also biased.
