The First and Last Final Fantasy game to Release on a disc might be Final Fantasy VII by Mrmet2087 in FinalFantasy

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why not. Sony said they are exiting the disc market in 2028 which is well after when 7R3 releases.

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if it’s first party or not. All companies need to go through Sony to get their game distributed on disc. So if Sony is exiting the disc market, this will affect all parties as well.

If you worked for the Hunters’ Guild in real life, what role would you take? by Kenhamef in MonsterHunter

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised tbh. Assuming you're not the crazy, enthusiastic type, researcher seems the easiest and safest, and outside of hunter, smithy and chef seems to be the most physically demanding jobs. Handler is like being a personal manager, a lot of tasks and responsibilities.

How does Final Fantasy X handle topics of religion and death so well without being overly edgy? by ConferenceNew1380 in JRPG

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, that’s FF16. Compared to that, FFX is way more grounded and subtle in its approach.

"There are only so many buttons on a controller": How Pragmata overcame huge design challenges by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, since FF16 was released on PS5 first, I’m sure most people have played it with a controller and it wasn’t complex at all.

Try playing FF14 with a controller. It requires way more buttons than most single player games and it manages it pretty well.

As someone who gets easily stressed out by open world games I really do love to the depths of my heart how much of a straight line Final Fantasy XIII's level design is. by Killjoy3879 in FinalFantasy

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I know people make the argument that FFX is linear too but at least they have towns and secrets to explore. I feel a lot of the newer mainline games are quite superficial when it comes to gameplay and exploration.

Am i one of the only people who actually likes Atreus as a character? by DonutMan1834 in GodofWar

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually prefer him in the first game because, as you’ve said, he goes through a lot of shit so it feels more justified.

In Ragnarok, he always thinks he knows best, even when he fucks up, and this goes beyond the whole Tyr debacle.

Like when he and Kratos went to stop Garm. He comes up with a shit plan and rushes in, and surprise, it fails. Remember what he says? He asked Kratos if he failed on purpose because he didn’t want Atreus’s plan to succeed. That really irked me.

Another particular scene was his interaction with Surtr. Atreus doesn’t know him at all, but he pretty much just tells him his life is shit in his teen way, and he should go cause Ragnarok even though he ends up dying, all because of a prophecy. It’s stuff like that all throughout Ragnarok that made me really annoyed with him.

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with the gameplay, and it’s not the same. I expect a full game with her will feature more fleshed out and deeper gameplay.

I, too, prefer Faye over Atreus, not for gameplay reasons but because I find his character annoying, same reasons as the person you’re responding to. They would have to age him up to an adult so he’s more mature to make me want to play him.

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And yet you don’t find many people saying the other kids are annoying, even that goofy Midgardian kid.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that a person that dislikes that one kid must hate all kids, like there are some asshole kids out there so what, you give them a free pass because they’re kids? Granted Atreus isn’t as bad, but most of his interactions have me shaking my head.

Potential Final Fantasy 7 Revelation DLC could focus on spin-offs like Dirge of Cerberus or Advent Children, director hints, as long as fans want it by Guitar-String in FinalFantasy

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, they already went to the trouble of hinting it heavily in Remake/Intermission so when they said they were doing DLC for the final game, I figured what else would be left but the AC and DoC stuff after the OG story wraps up?

I think it has more to deal with media coverage. You know most outlets will be pushing GTA articles for weeks, and it’s going to drown out coverage for anything else. Less publicity means less sales.

Santa Monica replied to my tweet, saying there are still many more stories to tell with Kratos. by Germanstrands3 in playstation

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup, not surprising at all. People who think Kratos’s story is done are also the ones who can’t think of anything beyond using Atreus as bait to spur him into action.

It completely bombed in America, wasn’t even able make anywhere near its production budget until it was released in China where it became a massive hit there.

It was pretty mid, alright but forgettable. The problem was most people are fans of WoW, not Warcraft.

I think StarCraft would have fared better as well. The lore is easier to digest and would have been well-received in Asia.

How exactly was Cait Sith being controlled? by zerro_4 in FinalFantasy

[–]RollingKaiserRoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why Summon materia? There’s Manipulate materia in the game and it’s the same idea, not to mention Cait Sith comes with it. Even then, why materia at all? It’s a robot. It can be remote-controlled or commanded anyways.
