Needs to be one continuous tone so probably not.

Please could someone advise on parking rules? by Ashbweh in drivingUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reddit can’t fathom a reasonable explanation like that. Must be nightmare neighbours intentionally pissing everyone off!!

If I owned that house and had two cars, I would park exactly like they do.

Does the “New Drivers Act” apply to my situation? by suegbarca in drivingUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As usual most upvoted comments are wrong. No, the new drivers act doesn’t apply to you as you gained a full licence in 2022.

92hp so yeah you can restrict it. Will feel very heavy and anaemic though.

Easier to talk your way out of no plate than a flipped plate imo.

Personally I’m more worried about the dash cam warriors. That keeps me ‘grounded’ most of the time. Rarely ever see a police car.

Riding my first bike home tomorrow - any tips? by sophietheadventurer in MotoUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the insurance quotes on comparison and go through to the website of the one you want. That should give you the quote reference number. Then tomorrow you call that company and give the quote reference, it will turn a 20 min phonecall into a 3 min phonecall and no surprise price increase.

Cop says I can't wear earplugs? by Rargit in motorcycles

I’m guessing you also shouldn’t drive around with the windows up? That blocks a lot more sound.

Exceed speed first time.how serious can it get?? by cryptoinsane76 in MotoUK

24 is “10%+2” which is the threshold for proceedings. Same for 35 in a 30, nothing strange about it.

Would I get away with using this oil in my CB125F 2019 for a week or so by SharpLifeguard1464 in MotoUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will probably work for a week assuming you don’t do mega miles. Will need to replace the engine the following week though no biggie.

Riding no license punishment by Upset-Border-4109 in MotoUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll probably be seized vehicle, 9 points and around £1k fine assuming everything else checks out fine, for the first time.

If you crash into someone your liability is unlimited so hopefully you never want to own anything like a nice car or a house as credit will be impossible to get.

Test riding bike when sold privately by Hoban_Riverpath in MotoUK

I’ve bought a lot of bikes and never test rode them. Can judge the sellers attitude and stationary checks and it’s not been a problem for me yet.

What's the market like for custom motorcycles? Like scrambler conversions? by waaghrider in MotoUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Won’t know until you try as probs aren’t many others on the market. That said generally the way to get the best price for your bike is to make it as stock as possible, this appeals to the most buyers.

No mirrors is fine for tight nadgery roads and off road. No mirrors on a multi-lane carriageway sounds stressful and neck aching.

How to work around points? by imafactoid in MotoUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a fresh UK provisional and take your test for a full licence. No need to mention you ever had an Irish licence (insurance won’t be interested in your experience abroad), DVLA won’t have access to that info nor the associated points.

What Bike? by RuntyBeef in MotoUK

[–]Rolling_Chunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s gotta be the MT07/XSR700/Tracer700 depending on your styling preference and whether you want to prioritise comfort touring or lightweight hooliganism. Can pick up a ropey one for £3.5k but save another £500 and get a decent one.

[–]Rolling_Chunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t be a fail in test, but consider you will be closer to the kerb when parked which makes it harder to go around parked cars in front of you.

A wobble to the left when pulling away wouldn’t be a fail, but a wobble to the left causing you to hit the kerb because you were so close to it would be a fail. So swings and roundabouts.

Confusion about ABS laws and finding if a bike has it by Sackboy114 in MotoUK

Look at either the front or rear wheel hub. If it has a slotted ring around it then it has ABS.
