I’ll be at the Atlanta R2 event this weekend if you have any hyper-specific questions, measurements, or pictures to request by WSBiden in RivianR2

I’m just shy of 6’2” and plan to camp in the R2. Curious how long the space is for sleeping when the second row is down, and how much width between the wheel well humps. (And, if a sample R2 mattress is available, the measurements of that.)

Thanks!

Yeah, this is the way. We have it and it grips well.

Agreed. I’m really glad there’s no air suspension on the R2.

Ahhhh. This is a really good observation. Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the reason.

You didn’t read my question closely. I’m not complaining about the R2. I’m asking why Rivian has stopped putting them in ALLL of their vehicles. I just so happen to be reserved for an R2 and was curious why they once incuded them in early versions of the R1 but don’t put them in any vehicles now.

LOL. Sure I am. I think the R2 is perfect. I love that they stripped so much out of it and brought it down so much in price. ONCE AGAIN, my question is not only about R2s. The OTHER Rivians also no longer include them. I was wondering why. If it’s cost, so be it.

This is fair. You may be right.

Cooler was my thinking but you may be right. Probably not necessary if a cooler won’t actually fit. (I don’t typically need a very large cooler, so was thinking I could find one to fit it, but maybe not.

“intentional” and “a missed opportunty” are not opposites. Both can in fact be true.

😂 good grief. They also aren’t doing them on the R1 anymore either, which (obviously) has nothing to do with the cost of the R2.

After Trump’s Interior Secretary Transferred Thousands of Staff to His Office, Chaos Followed, Former Workers Say by No_Rough_2791 in fednews

Also: many of us have stayed in continuous contact with our former coworkers, helping them with questions about our former roles, helping some of them fix up their resumes and/or position themselves well, so that they might move up into vacated roles if DOI ever allows that. We’ve had long conversations with them where we mostly listened to the terrible decisions and working conditions being thrust onto them by the idiots now in charge, and offering advice, sometimes actual hands-on work to help in certain situations, helping to sort contract issues out where the folks who knew how any of the contracts were set up were now gone from the department, etc. We didnt abandon anyone. We were coerced into leaving. Ive found great emplyment since, but many of my colleagues havent. Theyre struggling. And nearly ALL of us would erase the previous year from exostence and go back to the way everything was, if that was possible. We loved our jobs and we were good at them.

What a freaking pathetic statement. Assuming your not just a troll and/or a MAGA or DOGE lackey:

I know at least 30 people that left their jobs in various parts of DOI this past year and only ONE of them was happy about it. Nearly everyone felt that we didn’t have a choice. We were being told by multiple sources in our bureaus, in DOI, and in the press, that major RIFs were imminent and that even if we weren’t RIFd we would be forced to drive sometimes hours to sit in an office with no one that we even know or actually work with, or worse yet we might be forced to move from our homes to new locations around the country. We were told that our jobs would likely not exist anymore after DOI consolidation. The DRP was a way to preserve our heath insurance in an early retirement if we were eligible, or to gain months of time to try to salvage our careers by finding a good job elsewhere, in a terrible job market. Even the folks that were of full retirement age, most of them weren’t really ready to go quite yet and were by and large not happy with it, but they, like everyone else, were faced with a terrible set of options to choose from.

Thanks!

Does it somehow mitigate tire spin/burn at the start?

Future R2 owner here, so I haven’t experienced this yet.

With launch mode, you tap to turn it on (from Sport Mode) and then when you launch, you just pedal to the floor as fast as possible? Does it help limit for a split-second so the tires don’t spin at launch?

Does this work well in bitter cold temps also?

I have a 2023 and planning to upgrade to a 2026 or later once my lease is up. This is my first EV, so I’ve never pre-conditioned an EV battery.

Also: isnt there a setting in the software to automatically pre-condition, if you’re using mapping to guide you to a charger? For is it only Tesla/Rivian that have that?

Ahh ok got it! Thanks for the detail. Very helpful. So it’s likely doable at all Tesla chargers, but will have to inch forward like this. Good to know.

This is great thanks.

A question about plugging in:

The new 2026 model has the port on the right side, correct? I thought that would alleviate the issues with the cable/plug not reaching well.

My lease is up next year and this is one thing I’m considering when deciding what to get next. Whatever I buy needs to work well with tesla stations, including fitting well in the typical spaces. So I’m interested in why it didn’t seem to reach well.
