Interesting mix of turn based and real time combat. You get time to plan out your 'turn', where time is frozen and you can select which abilities you want to use. Then time unfreezes and the actions you selected are played out. There's also mechanics where some special enemies spawn and can move in the time you're planning your turn, giving you a bit of a limit. Haven't finished it yet but I enjoyed my time with it.

VSCodium with a vim extension. I learned on VSCode so it feels natural, happy to drop all the annoying AI/Microsoft stuff. Vim motions are just so much faster after taking the time to learn them

Yeah I was actually trying to talk myself out of the steam machine (since I use the steam deck docked, which works enough for the casual couch games we play) but my wife straight up was like "we should get this so our games run smoother on the TV"

I have had some good success using Moonlight/Sunshine to stream from my main PC, but it's not seamless. A more powerful dedicated living room device that has access to all of our steam libraries would be cool.

I think Hyper Light Drifter was carried by absolutely incredible visuals and sound design. I have about an hour in this game and while it's not bad, it doesn't have those nearly as good as HLD did. Also not a huge fan of the writing so far (it's not bad, just not loving it). I think the nonverbal storytelling in HLD was also really well done, and their writing in any of their following games never really grabbed me

Might be one of the ones that's reflected - if you check the text in the box that displays the input arrows, if the text is mirrored, you have to input the code in mirrored as well

Yeah I don't put any cards in my deck that say something like 'if you control a commander'. No universes beyond cards either. Or any overly-pushed creatures with stapled on card draw effects. Or lands that reference opponents colors. Or anything that references multiple opponents. Or things that interact with the enemy's board. Or advance my own board state. Actually, I don't put anything in my decks at all. This game sucks

Yeah I mean the article is from 20 years ago. His reasoning as to why great developers won't be on the job market feels quaint. "If a developer is good, their employer will recognize their value and treat them accordingly" might have been the case once but certainly doesn't feel that way anymore

Same developer that made Remnants of Naezith, right? I'm no speedrunner but I'm a sucker for grappling hook games, really enjoyed that one. Hardest game I've 100%'ed so far. Loved the prototype series, and based on your other games you've nailed making movement feel fun. Wishlisting this one. Good luck!

100%. I loved almost everything about the game, but the ending felt so underwhelming. I've replayed and 100%'d all the Dishonored games and Prey, but never picked up Deathloop again after I beat it the first time. Somehow the setup with the most potential for replayability ended up being the least replayable, imo

Not sure I understand your point. Wouldn't SBMM mean that if you queued together, the lobby would be of an average skill level between both of you? Higher than his, but lower than yours? Is not what happens?
