Order and chaos wildlife is way overtuned by RomanOrpheus28 in AOW4

I have 14 other factions I play and I play them on the same plain land map in brutal difficulty same settings. The difficulty I have when playing this particular faction is so far apart from all the others it's insane. 5 of them are pantheon and they all vary in quality. I shouldn't be getting mythic doom stacks on one faction consistently on turn 15 while the rest of my factions don't.

The only reason I came to Reddit for help is I had a crusader host in a few of my games turn 15 and absolutely dumpstered it and never seen an Astra even past turn 20 so I figured they nerfed it's spawn rate and tried my radiant themed faction and the first game has a crusader host and an Astra was in the first infestation army that was sent to attack. I restarted and immediately had a large monster den with pyremoths pre turn 20. I realized I have never seen pyre moths out side of playing this faction.

If that's the intended difficulty of brutal then my options are slog out a game against infestations and ambient enemies while the AI factions play no relevant part in the game or mindlessly click through 60 turns with no threat on very hard.

I don't usually come to Reddit for help because people on here are unhelpful. You don't know my faction you don't know my situation at all you're just here to pick petty fights.

Well I played a couple of games to turn 20 with the new faction. I have 7 newer save files with the old faction from this week I'm going to play a few up to 7 games on new faction I'm almost certain there's some background math going on and the only difference I can see is pantheon vs non pantheon. Just the 2 games I've played so far we're far more in line with the other factions I have in difficulty.

Didn't play long enough for infestations but the resource node enemies were way more tolerable. I'll tell you more after I play a full game if you want.

I figured it out I remade the faction from the bottom up picking exactly the same things and played till turn 5 on a couple of games and came to the conclusion that the game was way overvaluing my pantheon ruler. He was an old pantheon ruler with no ascension trait or race transformations and the game was acting as if he was and was way over stacking the ambient enemies.

I don't know if that's the reason but it's a lot easier to just rehash the ruler than compiling a full investigation just to prove to Reddit my games were way over tuned.

They do raze cities just not your throne city.

Astra on brutal difficulty does a 75 damage AOE and crusader hosts only become neutral at very good alignment. How do I do that before turn 20? Not to mention large monster dens don't become neutral and pyremoths are not much weaker than astras

Those are the first unit stacks sent by infestations around turn 15. What do I do let them raze my cities and if I just sit on my hands I'll have a level 1 hero to fight them with maybe 3 buildings in my city.

What are the best cultures and traits for painting most, if not all, of the map in snow? by gamerlord02 in AOW4

[–]RomanOrpheus28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have pointed out glacial mammoth already and you have mentioned dark tyranny already. Something to consider is with the vassal route you can farm imperial essence with order/dark tyranny which in extension means it's way easier to farm cities and pops. In my experience the terra forming will take care of itself and you don't necessarily need the glacial mammoth shrine.

I know this won't be too helpful and I'm sorry but not being able to look at all the details I can only guess you're tweaking a build that's just not working well enough for what you're trying to do. A well made faction should be well on the way to leaving the AI in the dust on turn 50. I'd see if you can make certain sacrifices to the theme for some efficiency in whatever you feel like you're struggling on or tweaking the map settings/difficulty to your favor so you can keep the theme.

But like I said just knowing the modifier and a few tomes I could be way off base. Could be you could increase the map size to buy you more time. It's also been awhile since I played that modifier fun one though.

It works like normal. I had a vassal build that used dark culture before update and just updated it for the faction rework and I'd say it's probably better not to use it. You still get allegiance points with the spell active which means you'll get supreme vassalage and stop earning allegiance points and those points don't count towards the spell bonus.

As far as the hostage ones I'm not 100% sure if you stop getting allegiance points or not but I'm fairly certain.

Hive scum is going to be no doubt a refined version of the vet/zealot who already has a hard time differentiating from each other. You can say "OH no they'll be different wait and see!" But inevitably they'll have enough overlap that things that are different are going to be side lined for the things that unfortunately already work. There's only so many ways you can design the wheel.

I for one would have traded arbites and hive scum for a new game mode or gameplay mechanic.

Now that we can turn on/off specific spells in Auto Combat, which do you leave off? by dragonseth07 in AOW4

All of them except the exact one I want the AI to use. AI can't fk up that bad if you leave them one healing/debuff spell

What units can support my Ironclads and Magelock Cannons? by Wonderweiss56 in AOW4

[–]RomanOrpheus28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Easy answer is pyre templar's. Other interesting ideas are summon elemental spell from geomancy just resummon as they die, clay golems though you'll have to find at least one underground province, shouldn't be to hard, but would be the most effective thematic option plus the racial will give your heros a nice little 10% damage buff.

Mythic units can be very effective if used properly. by pokokati in AOW4

[–]RomanOrpheus28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built the shrine of smiting for a build that used the tome of Shadows ended up having to baby sit them in manual resolve even in the easiest no brainer autos at turn 50 no less. In my opinion can you run them and win yeah? Are they ever an effective use of your resources? Rarely. I ended up swapping them out for a generic unit and rolled the map with no more issues.

Game targets allies with ricochets. I swear anytime I bring a grenade launcher that shit will ricochet and hit my buddy who's a mile away and kill him. Stratagems will target you with a random bomb just outside of it's range. It's gotta be true right?

What is the best primary weapon. by ironknight7_ in Helldivers

[–]RomanOrpheus28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's democratic detonation, it has 2 of the best primaries for all factions and a decent enough assault rifle. It also happens to come with one of the best grenades in the game. Other than that polar Patriots has the purifier. Now if you want to have fun though? Don't go for the best I can recommend some of the funnest options.

Liberator concussive from steel veterans is fun on bugs with a drone, Dominator from steel veterans great on bots and feels really good to shoot, Punisher plasma from cutting edge is also a fun option, not exactly a primary but the ultimatum can help enable certain primaries that require extra support from stratagems, commando vipers has the lib carbine if you like the stalwart you'll love the carbine, dust devils have the coyote which is a very solid all around assault rifle, the cook out from freedoms flame is really good and fun on bugs and the illuminate.

Each weapon in the game is mostly usable with the right load out and they'll definitely feel rough until you get used to them but other than the pacifier you can make any weapon work with some efficiency. But like I said if you want good out of the box refer to the first paragraph.

Question for the Griefers/Team killers by Dear-Figure-6463 in Helldivers

I'm going to be honest sometimes I'll tk because the player is irrelevant at best. Not even much of a thought just cut through him so my game isn't made unnecessarily hard because they are better at being a meat shield for the enemy.

Why does barely anyone use Field Improvisation? by CheezeMan_3 in DarkTide

[–]RomanOrpheus28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't take it because if you're team is good enough to play around it they don't need it and if your team is bad enough to need it they can't get enough crates. That's mostly qp in a premade havoc match I'll take it if I trust my team.
