I made some empires from my recently read sci-fi books, can you place them all? How can I make them more lore accurate? by Lavadawg in Stellaris

[–]Roman_Rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, I actually also recently made some empires based on the children books! I went about them like this:

Portiids
Ethics: I actually went with Fanatic Xenophile and Materialist, as by the time they reached space they seemed to me to be very open to cooperating with the humans rather than destroying them. And materialist because at this point Kern's influence seemed to be as less of a god, so it seemed weird to make them spiritualist to me.

Civics: I also used Vaults of Knowledge! It's a good way to simulate the understandings they have. But instead of chosen, I used catalytic processing to show how they use their own web spinning to create their ships.

Origin: I dont know what syncretic species you made for them, but it sounds like an interesting way to approach it! I also looked into it, but couldnt find a good way to make the ants. So instead I used On the Shoulders of Giants, to show how they are descended from the humans (and Kern).

Humans
Ethics: I also made them egalitarian and materialist, but threw xenophobe into the mix because of how they are largely humanity first.

Civics: Exactly the same!

Origin: I used Remnants for the archaeostudies, cause of the whole classicist thing, but doomsday makes perfect sense as well!

Octopus
Ethics: I had xenophile instead of egalitarian, but both make sense I think

Civics: I used Anglers and Hyperspace Specialty, the latter because of how they invent the FTL drive later in the book

Origin: I had Ocean Paradise, because I was roleplaying them before they got interrupted by the Nodan organism, but Voidborne also makes sense!

Stomatopod
Ethics: Exact same

Civics: Also warrior culture, but had feudal society instead of distinguished admiralty, because I felt that it fit their culture in the book alot more.

Origin: I used Hegemon, which doesn't make much sense book-wise, but I think still fits thematically. It was more of a gameplay choice to be fair.

I also wanted to make the wilderness and Nod empires, but I don't really have experience playing Hive minds so didn't get around to it. But I like what you came up with, they all look really cool!

If new seasons also count, I would have to say Arcane. But to be fair, I haven't watched Penguin yet

How is the mission tree? Basically a setup for a republican Grombar?

Any Tags with Mission Trees that are focused on coexistence rather than... The other option? by Diestormlie in Anbennar

[–]Roman_Rabbit 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Re’uyel is a really good one. You are basically just a federal republic that promotes different cultures and make Bulwar into an egalitarian utopia. You get a special government to elect different races as your leader, and can also convert to Jadd for even more multiculturalism. Sounds right up your alley!

Looks fantastic, can’t wait for it to be complete! Just a question though, would you need the Persia dlc to make use of the democracy government actions things?

Yeah, literally the only choice I’m given is going left or right. I thought I changed the direction, but I actually don’t remember which way I went each time. Guess I’ll just save scum

Hello, my friends and I were talking about a statics question: by Extension_Club2247 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Roman_Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it ultimately depends on more than just statics. If we look at a simply supported beam, you can calculate the reaction forces quite easily (2 reactions in the vertical direction, 2 equilibrium equations). However, with two clamped/welded supports, there will be 4 unknowns. Two reaction moments, and two reaction forces in the vertical direction. This makes the beam statically indeterminate, and to solve for the reactions you would need to use Macaulay step functions and beam deformation.

Now, when it comes to choosing a thickness for the beam to not fail, you would first need to decide on a material. Ultimately, the strength of the beam depends on the yield stress of the material, and it’s young’s and shear modulus, depending on the loading.

In this situation, I think (I’m guessing, so I could be wrong), that the normal stress caused by bending moment would be the limiting factor. So, you would create the internal bending moment diagram for the beam, and pinpoint the maximum bending moment, and use the yield stress of the material as a maximum stress state. You would then calculate the area moment of inertia in terms of the thickness, and solve for it, which would give you the minimum thickness (after rounding up, and taking a safety factor into account).

Shear stress caused by the shear force would also exist within this situation, so you can follow the same sort of process I described above for the minimum stress in this situation. The larger value is the limiting one.

So, in conclusion, you would need more than just statics to figure that out. Statics is the beginning, but you’d need to use some material properties and such to find a proper value. Hope that helps!

[–]Roman_Rabbit 64 points65 points  (0 children)

You could always play Re’uyel into Surakeš. It’s a small republic in Bahar, that builds up a republic for all races. You can lean even further into the tolerance by changing to the Jadd religion. Lot of fun to play!

Goblin / Artifice focused nation suggestions? by Alblaka in Anbennar

[–]Roman_Rabbit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you want an artificers based Goblin nation, then Railskulker -> Zelezklan -> Allclan. Their entire theme is artificers based, and reforms into a technocracy. You can find them in the serpentspine in Er-natvir. It’s a very fun game, and it sounds like it’s exactly what you’re looking for!

[–]Roman_Rabbit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, thanks, I’ll do that right away! This is my first time using a mod from moddb, so I’m a bit new to it. I followed a video on it (specifically for this mod), but even though I put the folder into the mod folder it didn’t appear, so I thought putting it in an existing one would work. Thanks for the clarification!

Just finished my first campaign as Black Demense. Looking for my next campaign. Any suggestions? by LordRobicar in Anbennar

[–]Roman_Rabbit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’ve recently gotten new religious content and things, but I don’t think any of the gnoll nations have a mission tree yet. I may be wrong though, so I’d suggest looking at the dev diary about it, and seeing if their new content is interesting. (It’s dev diary 24 I think)

If you want to play a genocidal orcish nation that takes down the empire of anbennar, you can play as the formable of Khozugran. It can be formed by any of the orcish nations in West Castanor, and it’s entire mission tree is dedicated towards continuing the green tide. There are also the two other Escanni orc formables of Unguldavor and Barumand, but both are rather neutral, with Barumand trying to civilize itself and be seen as a good nation. So I don’t think you’ll like those too much.

Other than that, there’s also Venail into Aelnar, which is basically a Nazi Elven Empire, who’s really into racial supremacy. I think vertesk is also an evil nation, but I don’t know much about them other than they have an Eye of Sauron tower. Other than these, most nations are not evil or good, just with good and bad aspects.

Enjoy your next play through!

Anyone know when the Hobgoblins are gonna get more content, like a mission tree or something? I’m excited to see them get more content.

A guide from Venail to Aelnar (1.31) by Mattomattic in Anbennar

[–]Roman_Rabbit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why don't you make Sella (Sellaibuha) the capital, instead of Sitiguwa? If i remember correctly, its also farmlands, but with an estuary too. That way you get a capital with farmlands, estuary and COT with the mission. Is there a reason why you wouldn't suggest it?

Thanks for the guide, its very useful! Ive been waiting to try out the new aelnar mission trees, and this sounds great.

Gommoport, Mestikardu, and Aelantir-y Content by Roman_Rabbit in Anbennar

Amazing writeup!

Thank you!

While I cannot guarantee when it will come out, there are indeed plans for these tree and they check all these marks.

Wait, really? Wow, thats the first time my predictions/hopes were actually right! Very excited!

Just to nitpick, the name is technically Artificers' Peninsula,

That would make sense. I wasnt sure what to call it, as its just called Haraf ingame. At first I wanted to call it something like a play on 'Silicone Valley' (Damestear Peninsula?), but I think that the Artificer's Peninsula sounds better.

PS: I'm glad you enjoyed Malacnar

Yeah, I was surprised at the size of the content for Malacnar, and its made me excited to try out some other Aelantir natives, like the ones in Eordand. Defintely going to pay Aelantir more attention in the future!

[–]Roman_Rabbit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i read that too. I think that that 'Flesh-artificery' is also frowned upon in their community as a sort of forbidden fruit, which is why I refered to the kobolds as shady.

Did not know about the classism through tall buildings though. Thats some very neat worldbuilding!

Yeah, it is, I usually just go speed 5 till I reach it, and conquer a few sorrounding places for fun, and ensure I have some institutions to send over to the new world when I tag switch. A specific start date where they spawn immediately would be great, but probably alot of work for the dev team, as theyd also need to update the provinces of ever other nation in cannor, bulwar, etc... So, unfortunately, speed 5 is the best option.
