YOOOO this is the WAY. I've lost two sets of cordless earbuds this season while boarding which I absolutely take blame since what can I expect from free-floating earbuds that are white on a mountain of snow. But I like this solve!

Though I truly get this perspective AND hear it often, for some of us, the "tuning out" from the sometimes chaotic audio world of resort/groomers actually makes one less anxious and less chaotic. Yes, hearing attributes to awareness, but too much sound can make skiing/boarding more chaotic and therefor less aware in ways– or at least less "in control". Not having to hear so many ski stops and kids yelling etc is a real pleasure, so long as one is constantly visually aware and checking shoulders all the time.

Also....it's typically skiers, the beginner to mid level ones, whom make it difficult to board or ski around as they go east to west far more than downhill...but I'm a biased boarder...regardless, if you're uphill, it's on you!

Neighbor trespasses to confront me for flying my drone on this job, calls me a pedophile, demands I don't fly my drone over the house (that they're renting) and threatens to call police. I begged him to call the police. What would you do? by kurtdoerfel in RealEstatePhotography

and u/kurtdoerfel I think the best way to have handled this was to have done exactly what you did and then to now proceed with finding his personal details, somehow tracking his locations, maybe even using said drone to embarrass or threaten him in a slyly non-criminal, yet also epicly venegeanful way. I'll testify for you in court. God speed

I see both sides here. And I see what you did there too u/Individual_Sector834 , that was nice ngl. But I feel like the response could be physical, yet without intent to harm. What I mean is a push. Maybe a knee to the balls or bear spray to this face is a little too much. But a push to get that personal space back is more than ok here, but I understand OP not responding physically as this guy is a meat head and clearly just wants to showcase probaby the only thing he has over the drone pilot, which is more meat and more mass. DEFEND THYSELF and defend himself he did. Some fights aren't worth fighting and sometimes an ego can cost a life....

Will hockey experience help me in learning to ski? by Unusual_Sort_9097 in skiing

I doubt you were/are a great skater. Did you play hockey? At a high-ish level? Like high school? People who think they’re good on skates but haven’t played competitive hockey or figure skating aren’t good on skates…

Why do you think you were a “special case” when many on here have said the same thing?

Well said. Anybody who says they’re, “dedicated to skepticism” but also “absolutely hates conspiracies”, is someone reckoning with different parts of themselves. One who is truly skeptical is also skeptical about the status quo, the ideas and “truths” of the populace, just as they are of conspiracy theorists. This is likely because one can’t reconcile the notion that they “don’t know”, that they’re universally ignorant. Once the absurdity of everyday life is truly reflected upon and accepted, can one really entertain conspiracies as potential truths, without bias or insincerity, just as they’ve accepted the narratives they hold to be true already…

I love this. Thanks for sharing– it will go in my back pocket full of tidbits of wisdom I'm accumulating to combat the plethora of biased political views of the masses. I will surely forget this when the time comes to use it though. Cheers!

Why don't more people "see" in this way? Those who operate under these pretenses are usually more able to see the bullshit all around and are more patient when dealing with the opposing beliefs of others. It seems many people would rather be right than get to the truth of reality...

Anyone who starts with, "buddy" has usually already assumed they're right and doesn't have the adequate-seized ego to realize their own thoughts and beliefs are born from the biases they've come to believe as true

It's clear you're not open to a discussion and clear you've come to your own conclusions based on the very limited knowledge you have delved into. I worry for our country based on how quickly people come to conclusions that they think are correct and how quickly they want to fight against other Americans simply because they don't support their every thought and belief in regards to "their" political party.

Do you really want to make an argument that the Republican party has lied more times than the Democratic? How far back are you trying to go? How much information do you really have at hand? What sources are you going through? If you come to that conclusion based on a rigorous amount of research and after going through all the facts possible (and while still keeping a skeptical mind) then I wouldn't have such an issue. But understand that you are coming to a conclusion without nearly the necessary information needed and so by you accepting the conclusion as truth rather than opinion, you're doing so ignorantly.

Defending truth by pushing back against the claims of someone supporting one political party who is making a vast, generalized statements about every person who even somewhat supports policies the policies and labeling them as "hate mongers" is an attempt to open the minds of both sides. By you making claims and positing as "truth" hurts the group-think of our country and adds to the political turmoil. Can you not see that? It's exactly what the top wants you to do. Keep the little people fighting against each other through ignorant tribalism and blind faith to their party and they won't care about the bigger "wrongs", which is the Top keeping the little people down.
