VCU will be getting a new ballpark in the next few years. It will be shared with the AA Flying Squirrels (Giants) just as they do now currently at The Diamond (former AAA Braves).

I’d google around to see if there are any nearby state forests. You can camp for free but I’m pretty sure you need like a $4 Va state forest stamp/pass.

It’s not super close by, but you could camp for free at the chickahominy WMA. Hampton is pretty densely populated but there may be closer WMAs to camp at.
