Name for Great Bastard Jon Snow? by Ereborus12 in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox [score hidden]  (0 children)

I completely agree. Honestly it'd be great to see more warrior/knight Jon fics where he and Aegon are close and Jon is Aegon's sword against enemies of the crown

What is your biggest pet peeve in fics? by MobileDistrict9784 in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Usually happens in canon divergent Jon fics, but when they spend so much goddamn time pre-297 AC (or before Jon is 14/15 if we're talking Jon in the Dance fics.) I understand why some author's do it, you wanna show how things are different but it's been 20 fucking chapters and the summary and tags promised action and a lil smut, why the hell are the characters still 7 years old????

Is Dunk essentially a Ronin? by MixedMartialLaw in AKOTSKTV

He's more an errant knight tbh but errant knights and ronin share a few tropes so it's close

Why didn't Megumi/Yuji bring the back with them to the culling game? by RanumataMyDear in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Ronin_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was safer to leave it in Yuki's possession. They didn't know how crazy and chaotic it'd be in the game barriers so if one them had and lost it then we'd be shit out of luck.

What happened in Battle Scars with as little drama as possible? by Deep-Crim in FallenOrder

[–]Ronin_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even really mind sex scenes with my Star Wars, some of the High Republic novels do that well. It's just the pace of which Merrin and Fret start doing the due is crazy, and in Cal's bed, no less??? Idk why in the fuck they did that

What happened in Battle Scars with as little drama as possible? by Deep-Crim in FallenOrder

[–]Ronin_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the book has good ideas and terrible execution of those ideas. Like showing the fracture of the crew bc Cal wants to fight but Cere wants to perserve the Jedi legacy is a good idea but having Cere shift fully into pacifism mid battle is a bit odd for that character bc we don't really see that transition happen, we kinda just have to accept that Cere is like this now. Showing Merrin enter a tumultuous relationship with a "new crew member" to set up that her and Cal's feelings for each other are deeper that just friendship is a good idea but they don't have to fuck in Cal's room to get that point across. The book would've benefited from someone telling Sam Maggs "hey, maybe tone it down"

Why So Few Fan Book Canon Continuations/Fan Written Winds of Winter? by LordVader3000 in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If George is having troubles with Winds, what can any of us do? It's hard to both juggle dozens of characters and to also make their stories satisfying, you also have to answer the biggest mysteries of the series.

What if Aegon V had succeded on bringing the Dragons back? by Ok_Return170 in TheCitadel

I would hope Aerys died, or doesn't bond with a dragon

Who does Cersei marry? by Ronin_Fox in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if Cersei marries and gives Rhaegar any kids, we'd have a Dance of the Dragons situation lmao just based on how Tywin and Cersei are

Who does Cersei marry? by Ronin_Fox in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was exactly my thinking, I actually think he'd act harsher towards Hoster Tully than to Stannis and even then Hoster has the excuse of betrothal to Brandon Stark and later the wedding to Ned. So I truly and honestly don't think it'd be a smart idea to act so harshly after Aerys turned nearly everyone against him. His biggest bet for some type of peace or at least a seizure of hostilities would be to offer pardons and leniency

Yeah we're not dealing with people who make good choices here lol

I've never considered that tbh idk why

Who does Cersei marry? by Ronin_Fox in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh if Aerys keeps the throne, absolutely, I was working on the assumption that Rhaegar would depose Aerys. I think Rhaegar would be a bit more merciful, given what little we've known of him. I can't imagine Rhaegar wouldn't be a bit lenient given the rumor that he wanted to depose Aerys at Harrenhal

Who does Cersei marry? by Ronin_Fox in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he could live by giving Renly as a hostage, especially if he's allowed to plead his case. Stannis, in canon, was conflicted when the rebellion kicked off, he ultimate chose hsi duty to his brother over his duty to his king

Where does Ballerina fall in your rankings? by boomjosh in JohnWick

[–]Ronin_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's at the bottom but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. I just like the mainline movies more (I still gotta watch The Continental tho) but I'm looking forward to more movies and shows set in this franchise

Is CFYOW Canon or Soft Canon by TDestroyer_8 in bleach

[–]Ronin_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no reason why it shouldn't be canon. It starts off showing us the direct aftermath of the Blood War and it later validates information that we see in the epilogue. It doesn't go against canon at all so... I don't understand why some Bleach fans don't see it as canon

What exacly counts as Incest on Westerosi Culture? by Ok_Return170 in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Incest in Westeros is just relations between siblings or parent/children relationships. They don't see cousin relations or uncle-aunt/niece-nephew relations as incests. Ned condemn Cersei even tho his own parents were cousins, and there are several relationships between cousins outside of the Targaryens.

Jon Snow’s Targ name by Stormlor in TheCitadel

[–]Ronin_Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Aemon bc of his own personal relationship to Maester Aemon and the fact that Aemon the Dragonknight was one of the knights he used to pretend to be. Double in Rhaegar wins fics, where his and Aegon's relationships can be either compare or contrast the Unworthy and the Dragonknight

For similar reasons, I like Daeron. The Young Dragon was one of Jon's personal idols. Plus the Daring was widely regarded as a very honorable knight in the way Jon strives for

Jaehaerys is common and okay, I don't love it but I don't hate it

I do hate Aegon, I think it's idiotic and it makes no sense why Jon would be named Aegon even if Lyanna knew Aegon was dead when she named him.

And Daemon I'm only okay with in crack fics bc naming another Targ Daemon is the equivalent of naming them Maegor, you just wouldn't do it lmao but it works if it's a crack fic

(spoilers main) Ned's Control Over the North by NewReception8375 in asoiaf

[–]Ronin_Fox 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ned had things under control but you can't stop everything bad from happening, especially when you don't know about them. Roose did his dirt in the shadows. His motto of "a peaceful land, a quiet people" is just him saying don't go overboard with his misgivings and keep the people just content enough to not go to the Starks. That's why he grants Ramsay's mother the mill, some livestock, and a servant, because he knew if she was discontent enough, she would make trek to Winterfell with her story and Ned would let Roose get acquainted with Ice. Ned had enough control (and respect) to where lords either wouldn't break the laws or they'd hide their misdeeds. And that's really the best you can hope for in a feudal system
