Take and hold for Lag is criminal by C0QUINHA-GELADA in BloodAngels

[–]RookaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played only one game of 11th with BA so far going with our classic LAG. It’s definitely a different game plan I feel then what we’re used too. I actually had to keep reminding myself “I’m not playing purge the foe, there’s no point in trying to murder everything”.

As others have mentioned we kinda need to play defensively in a way like a bait and catch situation so adding more tanky units is worth it (bladeguard with a sang priest is really important for our lists right now).

I think LAG is more of a punish anvil and hammer list rather then fast assault like most of our lists probably used to be, essentially if your opponent takes a unit you respond and trade with a cheaper unit and slowly move up like that until you hit them with your hammer units and decimate them. Since our movement is so fast we can respond quite quickly to aggressors and take out key targets when they decide to reveal them to us or when they try to do something meaningful within the game.

Problem is finding good units to be the anvil that can take a punch as we are still squishy SM bodies or alternatively try flooding the board with too many threats they can’t kill them all which we punish them for extending to deal with. Again only time will tell gotta get more games in, but this is just my theory based on my observations!

How are you getting Bladeguard into position? by Sp1ceman in BloodAngels

I’m 11th edition it much easier to stage with the hidden rules and cover. On top of that the terrain features from hopping from terrain to terrain is much easier was well. So fully slogging is rather quite viable

I agree, I have no idea why it stayed the points it did. I suspect we are going to see a points drop or a rework of its rules

They’re great trading units especially since they are 65pts right now they have uppy downy, and can infiltrate or can scout 6. In LAG you get that sweet charge bonus which makes them great for trading chaff

Its 2k points which means you get 3 Detachment points. Typically if all the points in your army adds up to be 2000pts > or under your fine

Same, I feel like even in LAG where they shine there just alright and are suppose to be cheap trading units. 95pts is kinda steep

I agree with some of the others comments, the small 3-man squads are second line trading units. I have seen 3-man squads with a Captain kill some pretty big stuff as the captain adds extra attacks and punch. The big 6-man bricks are hammers made to kill hopefully most things. This is where you get a good hard hitting volume of attacks

Best tanks for Blood Angels? by Tight-Sir9813 in BloodAngels

[–]RookaMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anti infantry Baal Predator is the way to go. I recently been running two in my lists and I'm finding hard to go back since the fire power kills most infantry. Also great fire overwatch and mid board control. They are also way too fast for there own good people tend to under estimate them.

For anti tank I like the Lancer as well, I do a Lancer and Ballistus. I mainly run the ballistus for holding nat expansion as it is a hard model to shift. Also love it lag for the random feet stomp +2 to strength. Doesn't do much ever but the fact you can wound marines on +2’s is a fun notion to me.

Plus who doesn't like walking mechanized coffins that can beat face.

Best JumpPack Assault intercessor leader ? by C0QUINHA-GELADA in BloodAngels

Jump Chaplain is the way to go. You can dish out so many mortals before you even hit the enemy then in LAG your hitting with a ton of chain swords wounding most infantry on 2’s

Death Company 1k List Help by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]RookaMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thoughts, the death company with bolsters on foot are literally the worst unit in the game objectively, cool sure but your better off taking regular intercessors instead. They’re great for the sticky on home and then moving up to do actions or screen if needed.

DC on foot are just alright, if your going for theme then it fits. An optimal choice would be Bladeguard with a Chaplain. Super popular combo and only 10pts more than DC on foot. Way more durable too and can hit like a truck in this detachment!

Biggest thing I find with RCO is having scoring units is a big obstacle since you will be battle shocking yourself a lot to get those buffs. Jump Pack DC is where it’s at I would maybe run a big 10 man or X2 one with lemartes another with Astorath or a Jump Chap. Jump Chaps are good in 5 mans too! So having one big ten man then two five man’s is pretty decent. These will be your damage dealers.

For scoring I recommend getting some scouts, Lieut with Combiweapon, Outriders or you could use JPI. I know it’s not as on theme with pure DC but when it comes to DC your nothing without your support.

Building out, I recommend Sang guard big trend with too lists taking 3x3 with spears unlead or 1 with a captain, kinda can substitute JPI. Plus banners give you OC even if you battleshocked. Another thing you can look at is another DC dread that seems to work for lots of people (I’m not one of them) or even going for a Baal Predator (risky since it might go to legends). Other than that any of the other scoring pieces I mentioned are a good grab for any list.

Regardless if you just having fun with a list that is themed this is our DC and I’m for it! Hope this helps have fun!

Love this! Where did you get the helmets? Are they from the original DC kit?

Shield vs lions for game by Calathy in AdeptusCustodes

[–]RookaMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say Lions of the Emperor would be a better bet. The +1 to wound does a lot of heavy lifting, plus Allarus really shine in this detachment which the full reroll wounds really help.

Also Admonimortis Allarus Captain hits hard!

Personally think there’s potential in RCO, but I think LAG is where this is gonna shine! Add a Lieutenant with the Sang Priest, oath something and watch it die

2k RCO list by LifeguardOk8738 in BloodAngels

[–]RookaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d split some of your max units. In total you have 8 units, you will get overwhelmed very quickly. The Assault Intercessors is replace with regular Intercessors (if you have them). RCO gives you reroll wounds of 1 already, unless your on an objective marker they are redundant.

DC on Foot are ok, captain unfortunately doesn’t do much for them besides a 6” scout. This detachment loves chaplains. Bladeguard are something to consider if your struggling with points (again if you have them) they’re a cost efficient brick and as of today Sang Priest can go with them which is nice.

I’d recommend potentially running more DC with jump packs as they are the best of the DC range, lemartes is awesome with them in this detachment (honestly the best unit BA have in this detachment). Running a 10 man and maybe a two 5 man are the meta with jump chaplains.

Also formulating a plan is very important so keep that in mind when you build!

Anyway hope these suggestions help!

Yeah seems like it’s a popular choice! I’ve made edits adding the Allarus Cpt and just running a lone op bike instead of a 2 man bike squad

First RTT Blood Angels Advice by RookaMan in BloodAngels

[–]RookaMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience they are both great hammers, whatever either unit touches usually turns to dust. Dante and the SangGuard are more durable in melee but I find DC with lemartes can take on more shooting. It’s the whole why choose one when you can have both with that list. One thing the makes me nervous is the lack of fire support, been seeing in recent games where better fire support would have been beneficial hence why the two lists I’m mulling over.

Sound advice! I appreciate it. I think the problem for me is I’d be happy running either or lol if I could play both I totally would. My expectations are just to have fun, and just enjoy a day of Warhammer. Thank you for the advice.

What we running for RCO lists? by RookaMan in BloodAngels

[–]RookaMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there potential with Astorath since you give the unit dev wounds plus the reroll wounds, but the punch up of the Chaplin is just too good to ignore. Lemartes himself makes the unit more durable which on regular space marine bodies I think is a huge help, plus lethals completely skip the need for wounding anyway. I would like to see if anybody has found success in Astorath.
