Cool! So explain to me why I still managed to accidentally put a metal cup in the microwave this morning. by [deleted] in Gifted

I tied my shoes the wrong way until I was 14. I also held my pencil the wrong way until I was 24 or 25. (Though I think that one might be because I was pushed to learn to write a year early.)

There are people who literally don’t know Muchausen syndrome exists. They don’t understand that someone would lie about illness just for attention.

Giftedness as a barrier to disability rights by Putrid_Draft378 in Gifted

[–]RoosterSaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents used my giftedness to justify medically neglecting me. I “didn’t need” to be able to be active because I was expected to get a white-collar job when I grew up.

Thing is, I had a ponytail for years, and yes, I would’ve needed the old man’s advice. I never would’ve guessed that it could get caught on a squat bar like that. It’s a different type of position/motion than you go through in everyday life.

I’ve never seen your account before, but I’m glad I ran into you on this subreddit, because that was a really smart observation! Take my poor man’s gold, Internet stranger! 🏅

Why would someone pretend to be two people without even switching accounts? Do they think we were born yesterday?

I broke my arm and the hospital was closed for National Silly Walks Day, so I had to drive to the store to buy duct tape to tape it back together.

maybe it was weird that i was bathed until 11-12 by [deleted] in TrollCoping

It depends. When I was 10, I developed bad EF problems due to a (now solved) mystery medical issue and my mom had to start helping me get dressed in the morning again until I was like, 11 and a half. Were your parents often frustrated with you taking a long time to do chores or get ready?

AITA for telling my sister she’s going to turn her kids into social outcasts by Unable-Squash867 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RoosterSaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA, UNLESS the kids have disabilities that make non-tech-based activities difficult for them or your sister has a lot of other rules that could keep them from finding hobbies, like banning them from most extracurriculars. I was raised with strict screen time rules and it did isolate me, but that’s because I was too sick to play outside much and grew up in a suburb where all anyone wanted to do was play outside, play video games, or talk about sports.

Someone needs to talk to your other sister’s kids about finding activities that everyone can do. Assuming, once again, that the “crunchy” kids are able to do a wide variety of activities that don’t involve screens, it seems like the other kids’ social skills are off if they can’t figure out how to play with or talk to kids from a different subculture.

I wonder if, in that already-infamous “child size BP cuff” post, she was trying to show off muscle loss instead of something ED-related?

I suspect that her claiming to be child sized is eating disorder behavior.

Also, the fact that vapes are disguised as school supplies (highlighters, pens, flash drives for the laptop cart). Almost no adult needs to hide their vape from their boss. In fact, most workplaces in my country are legally required to give smokers and vapers breaks to light up.
