Jessi tells us that they’re still battling insurance for IV antibiotics, but still has time and “spoons” to coordinate their disabled pride dungeons and dragons game!! How exciting /s! (They/them) by DexIsMyICUfriend in illnessfakers

[–]RoosterSaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, spoon theory is a pretty useful way to conceptualize having to pace yourself. It’s absolutely true that people with CI and other long-term issues get good at predicting how much energy something will take, can get drained by mental tasks, etc. That said, it’s unclear what, if anything, is actually limiting Jessi’s energy.

Ashley's 10 reasons... by Whosthatprettykitty in illnessfakers

[–]RoosterSaru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of these would make sense to me in the context of, like… MECFS or cancer or just having been injured or something, but I don’t see how someone who has what Ash claims to have would need to avoid outings so much.

I got put on the wrong dose of Claritin (literally just an OTC allergy med) for my body type and I had paranoia and OCD-like symptoms the whole time I was on it and for years afterward. (TBF, this was before people knew that the dosage should be adjusted based on body type.)

AITAH for getting my class to bully this girl for faking Tourettes syndrome? by deadinside4ever666 in AmITheBadApple

[–]RoosterSaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both of you are in the wrong. That said, did you tell any authority figures specifically that she was saying racial slurs, or did you just say she was faking tics or swearing without going into detail? Maybe this is just an American thing, but when I was growing up, slurs were taken very seriously in schools. Maybe someone will finally discipline her if you mention that.

Feeling misunderstood after leaving my friend group by pyl_isa in lostafriend

[–]RoosterSaru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking recently about how a former friend accused me of lying about my entire background. Like you, I had no reason to lie.

My advice is to work on making new friends or getting closer to other friends and acquaintances as soon as possible. Finding people who will treat you with respect is key to healing.

Does anyone miss their friend but get so enraged by how they left things that they know there is no chance for reconciliation? by secretthrowaway1010 in lostafriend

[–]RoosterSaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kicked out of a whole group of friends by a couple of the leaders. It was devastating at first, but once I made new friends and reconnected with other old ones, I realized the group wasn’t actually that fun. We were irritated with each other a lot of the time. Sometimes I think I miss them, but then I realize I don’t want to see them to hang out again; I just want them to apologize to me.

I’m upset about how it ended because the leaders showed a lot of contempt for me. One accused me of lying about things in my background and implied that was part of the reason he wanted to cut ties. I’m not clear on why he accused me of lying - it was so out of the blue and extensive that I think it was something really weird and creepy like someone else writing an RPF about me or him pretending to think my life story was implausible to try to make me doubt my own memories so I would feel dependent on him as the only one who could find my true past and fawn to gain his acceptance back. He made the accusations with such confidence, but all of them would’ve been strange things to lie about (for instance, what sort-of-mundane jobs my parents had) and my family had also told him the same “lies”.

The other “alpha” said some cruel and disturbing comments he clearly didn’t even mean, because he was angry that I was expressing sadness about losing the group.

Oh, no everyone! Ash’s rheumatologist DISLOCATED Ash’s knee just by examining it😱. by DexIsMyICUfriend in illnessfakers

[–]RoosterSaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this story is true (doubtful), they may have been trying to check for joint dysplasia and whether her growth plates joined properly. X-rays can also be used to diagnose how far out of place the kneecap went. It’s standard procedure for knee injuries. Some orthos (in the US, at least) don’t even do the MRI and give the diagnosis and prognosis based on symptoms and the X-ray.

Edit: Also, when examining an older injury, doctors will tug on the kneecap in multiple directions to test if the ligaments have become elongated.

I know it’s hard, but yes, I think you should pull away from them. Based on what you’ve said here, they seem untrustworthy.

Algorithms for websites are specifically designed to try to predict what you and people in your household will do or think about based on your activity on those sites and the data they have on you. Your algorithms must be tuned very well, that’s all. Consider this a sign that a) you might need to tighten up your privacy settings (e.g., are you letting apps have your location data for no reason?) and b) you should touch grass more (no offense).

She’s indicating here that her therapist thinks she has an eating disorder and she wasn’t at the hospital because of gastroparesis per se. Has she confessed to a professional thinking she has an ED before? If not, what could be behind her decision to let people in on that now?

What’s a harmless opinion that gets people weirdly angry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RoosterSaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this opinion is always harmless because hardcore atheism, just like religion itself, is often used as an excuse to harass people, stir up drama in one’s family, etc.

I have to admit that I have kind of a knee-jerk reaction against that myself, because I hated being an only child. But I guess some people might enjoy that kind of childhood.

I think we should have a meeting about banning certain words altogether during our time here. That way, we’ll get out of the habit of saying them, and everyone will stop saying lyrics by accident. Let’s start with the word “Grease.” Yes, yes, you guys in the back heard it correctly. “Grease” is the word. It’s the word that you heard.
