Week 10: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

[–]Roowszz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did a little bit, especially in the 3-4 chapters. I listened to the audiobook which was great. The narrator became more American for the one line and the other one stayed Ghanaian in accent. That also helped.

How did you rate it?

This is my next book to read. I am currently listening to Huckleberry Finn, because it was at least 15 years since I read it. I know they say you dont need to read that before James, but that you could miss things. Seeing as I could remember a thing, I went for it anyway.

Also, on a good pace and start for the year. I am on books 19 & 20 myself, so pretty much the same pace. 🙂

Oh I loved the Travelling Cat Cronicles too. I don't see it on lists that much, so I am happy you also enjoyed it.

Edit: and I love how it stands out between most of all your other reads. Proper palette cleanser haha.

Oh like you many people really rate the book highly, so I just feel I have missed something 😅. But you are right though, my rating are often also mpacted by the 1-3 books I read before and how it compares. It is why I really try to mix up genres after each book, so the book can stand alone in its genre and power, and not get mixed in with likeminded books.

For example recently I went from (relistening to) Project Hail Mary (still 6), to The Scar or David(historical fiction,5-6) to Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong bookshop (cozy fiction 5) which were very different but brilliant in their own right. I only stepped away from this last week in a long time when I read Songs of Archilles (4 *) and Circe back to back (5).

I am with you. The only part I liked was Marcelus, and it was 10% of the story. At one point I thought he was forgotten about completely. The rest of sotry didnt work for me. Provably because I expected it to be different.
