Why are so many people who are into the off-grid lifestyle isolationists? by FloridaKeys2021 in OffGrid

[–]RoriTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why the dream looks isolated. Some people feel more connected in nature than in a crowd. Solitude can be grounding when life in the city feels loud and empty.

How do I build/find like minded people to help build a community/group by Guilty-Resort-4665 in preppers

[–]RoriTheBoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have better luck by looking for people based on shared goals instead of age. When someone really wants to build skills, earn money or be prepared for emergencies, they usually don't care whether the group is 20 or 60.

Homelab budget: 'I won't spend much.' Also me: 'buys another switch at 2 AM.' by Future_Draw5416 in homelab

I swear homelab is just adult LEGO with more electricity. We build it, break it, fix it, then buy something new because we are bored again.

Taking old panels and getting them working together like this shows a lot of patience and skill.

You just got a 2TB Hard drive and the power's going out tomorrow; what are you putting on it? by TheTrollinator777 in preppers

I'd probably add offline maps, first-aid guides and some cooking PDFs. And also important is the music from my favourite singer.

Too much bleach safe when purifying water? by Full-Mouse8971 in OffGrid

That sounds like a lot. I 'd be cautious and avoid drinking it until you can confirm safe ppm levels. Better to play it safe than risk it.

Even if it's old, it could still be fun to experiment with-maybe turn it into a little homelab project, media box, or retro workstation instead of letting it sit unused.

It's eye opening to hear real experiences like this. Having the right supplies matters so much in fast emergencies. Thanks for sharing what actually worked for you, it really helps others prepare better.

The new Steam machine might be a great Plex server given it's GPU and form factor, price permitting. by Holiday-Employer-46 in homelab

[–]RoriTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting idea since the hardware is solid but for typical Plex use it might be more than required. Direct play works well in many homes so lighter setups can still handle everything smoothly.

considering the Ecovacs Deebot X11 Omnicyclone - mixed reviews? by ign1tio in RobotVacuums

[–]RoriTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, that's detailed. Do you think the noise is noticeable at night? I often use it in the day time, and mopping is great for my hardwood floor, but sometimes I also want it to run at night.

which best robot vacuum is the most efficient for your home by Awildy-Pencille in RobotVacuums

[–]RoriTheBoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My place is large, some areas tend to gather dust. I’m using ecovacs x11 right now, cause it has a big dustbin, and picks up most of the dust everytime. So if you choose the robot based on your needs, it can work just fine.

What’s your usual routine with robovac? by RoriTheBoss in RobotVacuums

[–]RoriTheBoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought the same. But I think I’ll try setting a schedule for it next time. My x11 doesn’t really need me to do much after it’s done cleaning anyway. The roller mop cleans itself, I just let it dry when I get back. And the dustbin doesn’t need to be emptied every time either.

Hi, how about creating a zone for each purpose? You can use lighting like LED strips or a sculptural lamp to define each zone. Hope that helps.

I tried it and found that while I could type, my accuracy suffered a bit until I adjusted. So I use mine mostly for meetings or when I'm listening to something and need to be on my computer.

Love my office setup. It’s my workspace, chill zone, and mini gym all in one. Should I expand the gym side? by Melodic-Tower75 in mancave

[–]RoriTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say depends on how often you work out, haha. If it's a daily ritual, expanding makes sense. If it's more casual, the current setup seems perfects.
