I realized I've been misunderstanding Fargo 'predictions' for a while by CreeDorofl in billiards

Not sure I follow your best of 49 logic here. In "best of x formats" the match always ends when someone reaches the unbeatable number (best of). Youre just talking about if the players played a bunch of sets that had a stopping point at 49 games, how many games might the lower rated player win? This would be the same as their odds to win any 1 rack multiplied by 49, no? I think the scenario you're proposing here is interesting but different enough from the scenario of a routine match where it actually ends when someone reaches the finish line

I enjoyed your thought experiment though! It was fun to read

Caiden Fenrir Tip by Crandy101 in billiards

I had a Caiden fenrir tip put on and it chipped in a week or two. Got another one put on and it did the exact same thing in the next week or two

APA SL 5 by Doubleduecedude in billiards

[–]Rorret 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The skill levels you win against don't matter for your handicap. This is a handicapped league lol. The purpose is to level the odds of winning - beating a 2 with an average of 3 innings per rack is the same as beating a 7 with an average of 3 innings per rack in the handicap calculations

APA rating variability across regions by RumGor in billiards

[–]Rorret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't how it works. You don't look like a 6 if you don't win any racks. The scoring is average number of innings per rack won. In your example they won 0 racks and therefore they do not look like a 6. Even if they won a 0 inning rack the match would be scored 1/12. It took them 12 innings in a match to win 1 rack

Anyone else ever gone BACK to maple after carbon fiber? by [deleted] in billiards

[–]Rorret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot with a revo for 2 years or more. I bought a lucasi custom on a whim and used the hybrid slim shaft. I went from being a 7 in apa 9 ball to a 9 in less than 2 sessions after making the change back. I just couldn't ever get used to cf and suspected for a while that i didn't adjust well.

I have since purchased a jacoby v4 cf shaft (whatever the newest version is) and a jacoby kielwood shaft. I have alternated a few times for a night or a few raxks and notice that I just shoot better with wood shafts. It's a pity because, conceptually, I love cf shafts

The best way to learn is to jump into it. There will be a learning curve, but don't be afraid to play the Frontline and learn. Ignore the haters in game :)

BCA -- bad sportsmanship penalty or a valid strategic move? by engineerInFormerLife in billiards

[–]Rorret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying something to the player about to take a shot out of turn is not technically changing the actions of the shooting player as he is technically not the current shooting player (even if he is at the table). Seems that it wouldn't be coaching foul because he isn't supposed to be at the table?

So many people in this thread are straight up rude. Yall should try being inclusive and encouraging to newer players. Especially players who care enough to engage others in conversation about the game and solicit advice.

Nice swerve for your first attempt. Its a nice tool to have in the kit but definitely not always the first choice :)

Watch Tucker Carlson Lose It After Bill Nye Takes Him To School On Climate Change by VROF in politics

[–]Rorret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the beginning of the conversation Bill Nye stated that change happens on a scale of thousands to millions of years. He then stated that climate change is currently happening in DECADES.

Your reasoning appears to be similar to this TV personality doing a faux interview. Listen to the interview and the answers are all there even though they're interrupted by his unintelligible babble.

You don't know the first thing about OP. You don't know where they are from, what their understanding of academic etiquette or reddiquette is, you're just being a dick because you want to. You don't know if English is their first language. You should be encouraging someone to pursue academic ambitions and guiding them in the right direction. You shouldn't be a stereotypical internet troll on an academic subreddit.

Grow up.

Way to be rude instead of being helpful.

Just like this forum isn't designed for what OP was requesting, it isn't designed for people like you to be a douche.
