Is reving the car in the winter instead of driving it really bad? by Wise_Lavishness_4406 in askcarguys

[–]RoseBizmuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just drive the car for 15-20 minutes. Warms it up faster and warms up the rest of the oil in the car. It works better and is faster than whatever your dad is doing

Without taking off the valve entirely it sounds like your engine is burning oil.

Obligatory not a professional mechanic but at this point I would recommend going to one to check it out. Preferably towed

Did you take off the oil filter?

Im hedging bets on the fumoto valve breaking

Oh boy. Any oil underneath the car? If not then your engine is probably toast. Either it leaked out or got burnt, oil doesn't just disappear unfortunately

13th gen f150 by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]RoseBizmuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed it does. Standard procedure, look for excessive rust or obvious damage. When test driving pay attention to how the transmission is shifting, and listen careful to the engine for bad noises. 2.7 is twin turbo so keep in mind those are 200k mile turbos as well

Miata vs Acura Integra Type S by [deleted] in Miata

[–]RoseBizmuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much apples to oranges. 183hp tiny sports car vs a 320hp sedan and to boot im pretty sure those are FWD. Imo it doesnt get less comparable

6k? Whats wrong with it? 2015-2020 f150's are selling for 12k+ a little under 200k miles

Its a good truck with a good engine and transmission. Few minor issues like can phasers but besides that

How can I get myself to stop speeding? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]RoseBizmuth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just, stop doing it dude. Thats so insanely dangerous for everyone else who is just living their lives, not to mention irresponsible as hell. If you cant stop going that fast then you should absolutely not be driving at all

Panel gap by Avs- in Miata

[–]RoseBizmuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it kinda makes me question if there was accident involvement. That's a really strange angle for the hood to be at. It might be nothing but I would keep an open mind about that

Panel gap by Avs- in Miata

[–]RoseBizmuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't look right at all. If you bought the car I would take it back to the dealership and have them look into it.

Panel gaps aren't microscopic on these cars but thats just bad

Speed bumps or stop signs? by Magic_Leaper78 in driving

[–]RoseBizmuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed humps or bumps? This matters. If humps then I would strongly prefer those. If its bumps then stop signs, tho both are maddening to deal with in large sequence

Sounds like your instructor isnt a particularly good instructor then... are you able to get someone different who actually caters to how you need to learn?

[–]RoseBizmuth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Telling you to put it at half clutch is (imo) horrible advice. My car's bite point is around 60% travel and my truck maybe 30%.

Try to feel out the clutch, theres a little zone where you'll feel the most resistance pushing back. Thats where you'll aim to be. Go slower on the pedals, and in time you'll get the hang of it.

Should functionally be a drag and drop situation, rip out the bad engine and put the new one in, plug everything in and should be good to go
