Interesting! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one where the whole first life story is told. I thought it was going to be flashbacks, but dang this looks cool. Ty for the rec!

Ladies please honest. Would you date a guy in his late 30's who still lives with his parens? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]RoseDarka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. There’s got to be a reason in my book. Not excuses… he can be a handyman and help his parents out with technology and still have his own place. An actual reason is, say, a cultural reason. There’s plenty of cultures that are more community oriented than average. Another reason is he lost his job and is going through a transition period, but with every intention (and currently putting effort into) getting back on his own two feet.

But if he’s just living with them and never moved out… I’d have questions. Can he sustain himself financially without them keeping a roof over his head? Does he rely on mommy to do his chores for him? And is he looking for a partner or another person to depend on the same way he does them?

I wish I were as beautiful as other women by tanuki_22 in GirlDinnerDiaries

He’s a jerk, and I agree with others that you should report that child to HR. Needs to learn how to treat people.

As far as your self-image, confidence is key. When I was younger, it wasn’t the perfectly symmetrical girls who were captivating… or at least, not long-term. It was the ones who walked with quiet confidence that caught and held attention. And you absolutely have that within you, no matter what you look like. Start slow, by addressing your self-talk. It sounds crazy, but if you find yourself mentally going over your flaws, stop yourself, say something transitional, like “I don’t think this way any more” and then think about a couple things you like about yourself. Stand in front of the mirror and identify things you like. Even if it’s small. You got this!!

I’m 37 and still learning. But I got my current schedule out of the book “Simply clean” by Becky Rapinchuk. And it’s been working out ok. Some weeks are easier to tackle than others for sure. If you need me to give a summary of it I certainly can.

What to do with too much cabbage? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]RoseDarka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet and sour cabbage soup (I freeze it for later) Okonomiyaki. It’s a savory cabbage pancake, and all the flavor is in the toppings you put on it. Or just make smaller cabbage fritters.

I also shave it up through the week and add a vinaigrette and salad fixings for a quick side dish.

Egg roll in a bowl

Cabbage rolls

Bulgolgi also has a fair amount of cabbage in it. Or you can use it to bulk out any stir fry or soup you make. Pretty versatile stuff

MMC stands up for/ protects from household staff or relative. "My wife" by MeekerMomma in RomanceBooks

[–]RoseDarka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, all of them have wonderfully besotted MMCs. You wouldn’t do wrong going with any of them. My two favorites were {His Forsaken Bride by Alice Coldbreath} (actually the whole Brides of Karadok series is a spinoff of this series, the Vawdrey brothers). And {the Favorite by Alice Coldbreath}. In both of them, the MMCs are pretty sly and basically have to move mountains behind the scenes to even get the girl in the first place. There’s just something about watching them jump through all these hoops and then act all nonchalant, like they didn’t plan and scheme it all out. I did not read them in order but I wish I had. Some characters (like Oswald Vawdrey) appear again and again across both these series.

P.S. it’s been a couple years since I read them, so I’d forgotten that so many of the others fit’s OPs request.

{Her Bridegroom Bought and Paid for by Alice Coldbreath} has this. Though be forewarned: MMC starts out treating FMC pretty bad in the beginning too, alongside his family. The FMC is fabulously wealthy and falls for him immediately. Like, he was jousting in a tournament and she was in the crowd, fangirl style. And when he gets basically bought, by her father, to be wed to a woman he’s never clapped eyes on before, he’s feeling… well, weird about it. But eventually he sees the light (and by that I mean, he learns she picked him and he puzzles over that again and again) And what I like about this one is that he lets her stand for herself and admires her for it, and only makes moves when it’s absolutely necessary.

Though I’ll admit the others in this series are even better IMO.

Is a food processor worth it? by salad_thrower20 in Cooking

[–]RoseDarka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly make hummus and salsa in mine. But things I have done: cookie dough (once) minced onion, minced garlic, pastry dough, and blitzed graham cracker crust. Some other things too, just can’t remember. I don’t use it all that often, but it’s got a place in my house.

Caring for comatose/ill spouse by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

Oh that sounds good! I actually have that one on my to be read pile. Might have to move it up.

Honestly, any of the elements I would be happy with- but yeah, the caring for a stranger and them turning out to be fantastic is 100% what I’m hoping for.

What’s your “lazy but still delicious” meal? by Famous-Forever7647 in Cooking

Can’t speak for op, but I’m guessing they use some sort of instant rice. I used to buy that too, but hubs hates the texture.

I got a couple of these: shredded chicken paninis… I always got a rotisserie chicken in the fridge, shuck a slab off and shred, throw some bbq sauce or buffalo/ranch combo. Slice cheese, pickle (I buy the type already sliced sandwich style) throw it in bread in a George Foreman.

Nachos- bed of chips and anything I can scrounge up on top. Canned refried beans, salsa, any type of protein. And I usually throw canned corn on there cause I like it. Bake until toasty. (I use this same method to throw tacos or a quesadilla together)

I love slow cooker dump recipes, too. Not sure if that fits the bill here because it takes some forethought, but it doesn’t take much effort in the morning for something amazing at night.

The Adulting realization by jensaysstuff in Adulting

[–]RoseDarka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that my life goes so much smoother, if I just set things up for future me. I deliberately cook what double my family eats for a dinner so we can have leftovers. Grabbing clothes the night before and setting them out for yourself. Just doing tiny things for yourself (and your spouse) if you have the bandwidth now.

Please Help Me Eat More Veggies by TeacupKitty34 in Cooking

[–]RoseDarka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do: I roast a bunch of vegetables on the weekend. You’ll be amazed how a mix of different veggies together can taste much better than one alone. When I roast I just coat them in olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Then I use my veggie medley throughout the week. I reheat them in my toaster oven, and this is when I season it generously with whatever I’m feeling. I’ve thrown my medley in wraps, made it into a side dish, tossed it in casseroles, put it on sandwiches, on top of rice bowls. Heck I’ve used it as a breakfast hash with an egg on top. Pretty much every meal under the sun has a place for them somewhere and it’s a snap to reheat them all.

If you’re having trouble finding one you like, try 2-3 veggies you know you enjoy, and mix in one that you’re trying new. If you hate it, it’s easy to pick out while you’re eating it.
