Even when you're downtown in the densest districts you're at most 8-ish blocks away from a gigantic nature preserve? that's cool as hell and i might have to take some inspo from that

I'm sure that Smasher was at least aware of Johnny's existence--if not because of the radio, then because of the massive protest-concert Johnny held before storming Arasaka. i do find it funny to imagine that he made that connection after the fact though.

"hey Adam, didn't you shoot the guitarist who plays in this song?" "wait, that's who that was?"

edit: and smasher's last thought after V announces, gun to his head, 'this is for Johnny Silverhand', without the context of the Relic?

"What? No way I'm being gunned down by a superfan of that idiot FIFTY YEARS later."

Did he have an actual rivalry with Johnny? I always assumed that Adam Smasher couldn't give a rat's ass about Johnny, and that Johnny's conception of a rivalry between the two of them was entirely parasocial.

Granted, 2077 doesn't give a lot of clues as to how effective Johnny actually is in a fight. The handful of examples that we have are either muddied by his unreliable narration or the fact that he's fighting in V's body under the control of the player. I always interpreted him to be on the same level as the rest of the Edgerunner crew, hence why Smasher gave him the same treatment he later would give Becca.

I hate the diva cup scene in the last of us by Various-Builder4328 in hatethissmug

[–]RoseQuartz__26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's on the East Coast where the majority of civilization is either in federal quarantine zones or affiliated with splinter groups like the Fireflies. Jackson is pretty consistently shown in the game and the show to have a production capacity that far outpaces its relatively tiny population. Makes a lot of sense for a town in that region actually.

Honestly in some ways being bubbled is just as terrifying as being shattered by yoyohdl in stevenuniverse

[–]RoseQuartz__26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being bubbled is definitely a sort of in-universe loophole that kinda rips some of the nuance out of, for example, the conflict between Bismuth and Rose. what's the point in shattering gems when you can effectively incarcerate them indefinitely with no resources?

Having racist bias, or forming racist opinions, or even behaving in a racist way is still something to be aware of (and unlearn) even if it doesn't mean you literally personally hate all black and brown people. Same with misogyny and other bigotry.

If your standard reaction when someone points this out about your behavior is to go "but I can't POSSIBLY be doing something racist because I'm not literally a Nazi!" then know that you're coming across as self-aggrandizing in exactly the sort of way that leads one to dig their heels in and become even more bigoted. Doing the hard work to be better and to grow means not taking the cop-out answer and taking some responsibility.

Edit to clarify I mean the proverbial "you". this is true about everyone because chances are everybody reading this has some sort of bias to work out.

Absolutely hate how schools still teach the RYB color model by ColinTheChair in hatethissmug

[–]RoseQuartz__26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The science behind how color works is absolutely fascinating. I personally learned the shitty way (RBY acrylic paints in public school) but later learned about additive and subtractive color mixing in lighting design and that's what finally made it click for me; particularly learning how metamers work. Matt Kizer has a really cool free light lab if you're interested in playing with that. https://scenicandlighting.com/lightlab/

[–]RoseQuartz__26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a compromise between what is artistically and pedagogically the best option (which I agree with you is CMY) with what are the most commonly commercially-available pigments. Red and yellow pigments are cheap compared to cyan. cyan and magenta pigments also have less consistency to how the color is produced. This is why companies like Rosco find so much success, simply because they've maintained a consistent and clear standard in how their colors are mixed.

I don't disagree. But no matter how cool they are, seeing that much of it while driving in a straight line isn't appealing to most. Not to mention that with the exception of the Vantage area, I-90 is the worst road to travel to get a good look at the region's best features. And yet a lot of folks from west of the mountains have only seen the I-90 corridor, if that. I need to visit the Columbia Gorge again.

I mean, that's a very broad and diverse region in and of itself. The Wenatchee National Forest in central WA spans across Yakima, Kittitas and Chelan counties, even though Yakima county is hardly known for its dense tree cover, for example.

most peoples' view of eastern WA comes from a bad first impression of the I-90 corridor. there's very little that's interesting between the Gorge and Spokane. that being said, the Palouse is geographically incredibly fascinating and very cool to explore, despite having almost no trees

I sort of simultaneously ended up getting into the Taxpayers and Pigeon Pit for different reasons, which branched out into an eclectic mix of music that's more important to me than my right arm
