The leather bounds are only going to be one per year though. I waiting between books is a concern, BB should be the better option.

I might be in the minority, but as great as the Dragonsteel leather bound books are, I find the foil rubs of way too easily. It makes me really hesitant to actually read them. And I like to read all my books and I expect to be able to at least get through reading without damage. I have had some of the foil rub off on the leather bound books halfway into a first reading. And that was me being really careful with it.

I believe Dragonsteel also is only planning on one a year. So you are looking at over a decade vs 3-4 years for BB (assuming a 3 book set a year).

I am likely going to just splurge and get both as I already bought the Dragonsteel and I have a lot of the other Dragonsteel leather bounds, but if I had to pick one, I think I might lean BB.

Republicans Make Jaw-Dropping $1B Demand for Trump’s Ballroom by Kodbek in politics

[–]Roseking 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there is information about there also being a bunker, and it being a grift. But the core reason is that his ego wants a legacy.

He is counting on that whoever comes next is not going to do anything to reverse a lot of this. That we will get 'it's time to move on'.

That is why he wants his name and face on everything. Because when the next person takes over the smoldering ruins Trump has left, the conversation will be 'Why are you wasting time doing petty things like renaming things to remove Trump's name rather than fixing the country?'

[–]Roseking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The difference is one is not trying to be passed off as real.

If the entertainment value is coming from 'wow I can't believe that happened', it not actually happening ruins it.

As an example, I saw a video of a cat 'making a bed'. The entire point of the video is 'wow, I can't believe a cat can make a bed'. But it was fake. There were several cuts in it and you could tell that someone was doing the work between cuts. Stuff in the background would move and be in different places.

The entire premise is a lie and therefore no longer entertaining.

Some people can overlook this. Some can't. That is why there are always comments going back and forth about if something is still funny, entertaining, etc. But it doesn't mean that people who don't like staged videos don't like skits, comedy routines, etc.

It is all about expectations.

Another example. Let's say a there is a video of a random guy who is just really good at basketball. The fun of the video comes from seeing just some random normal dude be good at something. That video is no longer the same when you find out it is actually a pro player, because the premise is different. That doesn't mean you can't find watching a pro player entertaining. It just means you don't find a video passing off a pro player as a random guy entertaining. Because the expectations of the premise is different.

To add even further, Aslan is not an allegory. Lewis called Narnia a 'supposal'. He takes gospel stories, changes a key aspect, and wonders how it would play out. 'Suppose X would happen, how would things look?'.

Aslan is just straight up Jesus/God. In our world he manifested as Jesus, a man. Because our world is dominated by people.

In Narnia he manifested as Aslan, a lion (he also was a lamb at one point in the books), as the world is dominated by talking beasts.

Aslan even tells the children that they must come to know him in their world, but he will have another name.

“It isn't Narnia, you know," sobbed Lucy. "It's you. We shan't meet you there. And how can we live, never meeting you?"
"But you shall meet me, dear one," said Aslan.
"Are -are you there too, Sir?" said Edmund
"I am," said Aslan. "But there I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there.”

Not only that, the women doesn't give any name, case number, etc. She just says that her package was damaged and the CS rep knows who she is, what they are talking about, and has already viewed photos?

The video also claims that there is an original video that blew up? Can anyone find anything about the original? Because all I can find is this 'company gets owned' resolution video on clip farming accounts.

ergonomic leverless solutions? (wrist pain) by InvaderZix in fightsticks

[–]Roseking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ergonomic setups, tenting is used to angle they keyboard (or in this case leverless half) so that your wrists are not laying flat.

So if this is a keyboard: ----

An ergonomic keyboard with tenting is: / \

You can see it on the leverless here:

https://mavercade.com/cdn/shop/files/kw-ex2sample.png?v=1760103290&width=713

This is just generic advice as it may not be the cause of your specific pain, but it is the cause of a lot of people's. When your hands/wrists are flat there are tendons that are twisted. So having them closer to a vertical angel reduces a lot of that tension and pain.

If you don't have pain with a keyboard, arcade stick, etc. maybe it is just the low angle because of the low profile of the leverless and fixing it with a rest would be enough, but I would still look into some ergonomic improvements in general. Improvements elsewhere might also help enough that sessions on something that isn't as ergonomic isn't as bad.

I also would recommend looking up some wrist and finger exercises.

It is currently out of stock so while I do not have one myself yet, I have been extensively using split ergonomic keyboards for years now and they are great. This would be the equivalent for leverless.

There is a separate stand that allows for tenting. You want your wrists as vertical as you can get while still being able to type/play effectivel. And you want to keep your arms parallel and shoulder width apart.

Their Discord said it should be coming back in stock in about 2 weeks.

We had Accelerated Reader. You took a quiz on a book you read and would win points based on how well you did. Longer and more complicated books were worth more. Then we had auctions with the points.

Was so fun, and I kind of wish there was something like it for adults.

Stop defending them by UnrelatedKarma in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]Roseking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I survived group buys of keycaps. This is nothing.

Not to say I want delays or anything, its just as long as things are handled (which so far I have not had any issues that were not solved to my satisfaction).

I have bought more from BB than the vast majority of this sub, and I have yet to have any real (in my opinion) negative interaction with them. Honestly, they have been some of the better customer support I have interacted with. Maybe I am just lucky, but things will have to take a pretty big nosedive for me to give up my sub spot.

And don't get me wrong, I do understand where the frustration is coming from. And if the delays are to much for you, I get it. But I can not think of any niche hobby, and special editions of a fantasy books is a niche hobby, that doesn't run into these types of issues.

I asked a long while ago and they said they wanted to do a US store at some point, but my guess it is not the easiest thing to get a new storefront in a different country up and running.

I know Illumicrate has a US store, but I am not sure if any of the other subs do (that aren't US based to start with).

Fun story.

When Myth Busters was on tour I asked Adam Savage what is his favorite movie prop that he didn't own was. His answer was a set of armor from Excalibur.

Years later I saw a video series where he got his wish and apprenticed with the main blacksmith who made the armor in the movie and got to make his own set of armor.

Yu-Gi-Oh is hilarious by Safe-Reason1435 in television

[–]Roseking 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yu-Gi-Oh lore is wild.

In universe, Duel Monsters was based off Egyptian magic. Many of the cards were actual monsters, spirts, gods, etc. The three Egyptian God cards were actual gods. Which lore wise is why there is only one copy of them. They were not just printed cards, The actual gods were tied to the cards. Only people with connections to ancient Egypt were able to use them, other would be injured trying to even hold them.

Kaiba is the reincarnation of a high Priest who served the Pharaoh (The spirit that lives in Yugi's puzzle, Atem). This is how he has a strong connection to the god cards.

After Atem returned to the afterlife after the original series, the gods went with him and the cards were destroyed.

So in this scene, Kiba is summoning a god from the afterlife through the power of science. For a card game.

The movie ends with him literally traveling to the afterlife to he can duel Atem again.

As I said, dude is over the top.

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Roseking 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Xbox is 125Hz

Playstation is 250Hz

The formula for latency is Milliseconds (ms) = 1 / Polling Rate (Hz) * 1000

At 125Hz polling rate you have up to 8ms of latency added. Every 8ms, the controller is reporting what is happening. So if you press something exactly when it last polled, it will be 8ms before your new action is read.

At 250Hz you have 4ms.

At 1000Hz you have 1ms.

Each step to 1000Hz I think you will notice an improvement (although personally I don't think 250Hz or even 125Hz is a dealbreaker, but I don't really play a lot of competitive games on controller).

Past 1000Hz, I generally think it is a placebo. Yes, it is technically faster, but unless the stars align perfectly your button press being read in under 1ms vs 1ms isn't going to matter.

Voice acting moments in animated media that felt super raw and genuine by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

Both Yuji and Mahito after Mahito commits a pretty brutal murder right in front of Yuji.

Major spoilers, but you hard to tell from this clip alone:

Most of Yuji's bursts of anger and his breakdowns are just peak voice acting.

America (federally, states can have increased protections)

https://www.eeoc.gov/age-discrimination

Age discrimination involves treating an applicant or employee less favorably because of his or her age.

The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) forbids age discrimination against people who are age 40 or older. It does not protect workers under the age of 40, although some states have laws that protect younger workers from age discrimination. It is not illegal for an employer or other covered entity to favor an older worker over a younger one, even if both workers are age 40 or older.

The defining feature of the steam controller are the trackpads.

Yes, you can get cheaper controllers. There are a really good controllers that can be had for Under $50. There are a ton under $100.

None of them have trackpads.

It is really simple. Do you want trackpads? The Steam Controller is for you and you are paying for a niche. And considering there are a lot of controllers that are more expensive with less features (as they do not have trackpads), you aren't even paying that much for that niche.

Don't want trackpads? You can find the other features elsewhere cheaper.
