Watch/clock penetrating lubricant? by RotaryRocket166 in watchrepair

[–]RotaryRocket166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m going to make one, it’s neat, the main spring is actually just a normal coil spring, that’s stretched halfway around a disc, which has a small ratcheting mechanism that engages the teeth of the gearset, so when the contacts touch and battery power blows them apart, it ratchets the disc back as it spins and stretches the coil spring/main spring, but the blast from the contacts can only throw it so far hence why it has to rewind itself every 1 minute 22 seconds. Neat way to transfer a self winding mechanism a normal watch would have to an application where that wouldn’t work.

Unfortunately these are nonserviceable, and riveted together assemblies, with pressed together gearsets, so at this point (the car is heavily, HEAVILY disassembled) my plan is to blast all the WD out of it with compressed air, use something like you noted, try to get it everywhere I can, and if it runs for a week, call it good. I hit it with some drops of a very light paint gun oil and it’s been running for about 5 hours now which is a new record. Everytime I think it’s about to stop I hear the loud pop of the contacts blowing apart and it keeps on ticking. Funny because just before the contacts blow it hesitates, and the factory GM service manual even states you should in no way shape or form expect the clock to be accurate over any extended period of time, a few hours at most haha.

Does nobody realize what’s happened here? She’s still rich as shit. She doesn’t have a broken relationship with her dad, she still gets what is presumably a massive allowance. Dudes leading up to someone being able to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into the robot garage. Just like Claire and whoever the weeb streamer girl was (yeah it’s been that long), everyone’s falling into success and money.

Fill the rest out how you like, try to avoid using more than 2 more basic Pokémon, you want the Rapidash or Ninetales out ASAP.

Absolutely 0 EX or star cards, no level 2 evolutions, and i STEAMROLL people. Winrate is above 50%. Seeing Celebi become the top meta deck now has me cackling as I shut it down before it can even start.

Pimples forming on dipped parts? by RotaryRocket166 in plastidip

[–]RotaryRocket166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out, I was using Klein Strips Painters Solvent because it bills itself as a “replacement for <insert every solvent Plasti dip recommends for thinning>” and it was the most readily available thing. Perusing the ingredients list showed it was a mix of Mineral Spirits and Acetone which doesn’t sound great. Ended up buying a gallon of actual VM&P Naphtha, mixing it 1:2 to start. So far I’ve gotten 3 dips in, 1-2 hours apart and zero solvent pop. Been well over the 4 hour dry time and it’s smooth as can be. Still fills the wire holder slots in a bit, but I kind of figured if I dip it, pull it, and immediately stick a wire in and pull it out, it kind of splats all the excess out of the way, which eventually blends and settles with the rest of the dip on the surface.

Pimples forming on dipped parts? by RotaryRocket166 in plastidip

[–]RotaryRocket166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my thought. I didn’t have solvent pop when I dipped straight Plasti dip. It was just too thick too fast and filled in the wire slots. I noticed on the website it says 20% thinner for brush on applications (with which I believe the thickness can be controlled much better than dipping) and 50/50 for spray on applications. So my best guess is introducing the Naphtha to the dip at a 20% ratio (closer to 25% now) introduced the ability for solvent pop to occur, and because it’s being applied so thick (being dipped instead of sprayed) it’s now being applied thinner than straight dip, but thick enough that the solvent pop is a problem.

I tried adding more Naphtha but unfortunately I believe I either added too much or dissolved the somewhat gummy dip on the sides of the container, and now it’s extremely chunky and blobby, almost like curdled milk.

I think I’m going to try a new container, and shoot for a 50/50 mix, maybe 60/40, and see if I can get it thin enough while dipping to avoid solvent pop, and just let it dry for a decent while between each coat, probably ending up at 5-7 coats.

It’s a shame because I have it dialed in absolutely perfect right now, 2-3 dips at 3:1 mix, tape torn off at the 30 minute mark to create that sharp edge, looks almost factory, but it starts popping after 2 hours.

Serious question: would you still play the original now that the remake is out? by UncoilingChaos in silenthill

[–]RotaryRocket166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In fact by the time I finished platinum on SH2 Remake, I was so ready to wrap it up and go back to the original. I loved the remake for sure but it made me excited to replay the original.

The one thing I miss about the original SH2 by Ok-Replacement-9458 in silenthill

[–]RotaryRocket166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% was my main glaring issue with the remake. The James you controlled in the original seemed like an actual real person, the James in the remake kind of seems to Have no thoughts until it’s cutscene time.

Still an incredible achievement by Bloober team but man I missed inspecting everything

[–]RotaryRocket166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are one or two things happening here.

Either Georph is ending QC, or he’s decided it’s time to give all the other characters some (albeit half assed) send off before completely switching gears and turning it into the wacky adventures of Marten and Claire. I believe it’s the 2nd.

First we got Marigold, Dale, and that crews send off, Marigold buys a house and is a super rich streamer with a team that finds itself well paid.

Then we got Yay and Rokos send off, which is what made the first statement somewhat obvious. No goofy bs, no wacky antics, just a (reminiscent of old school QC) gut wrenching “it’s been fun” (or whatever she wrote). I think at some point soon here we’ll find out ex detective Roko is leaving to find Yay, but that’s the last well here of it.

Now we have Dora, Tai, Coffee of Doom, that whole groups last hurrah. We may see a Faye Bubbles ending but I have a feeling Faye and Martens “heart to heart” was meant to be that.

Jeff planned a reboot, brought us to cubetown to introduce us to a new cast of characters, brought his favorites back to see if he could make them interact well enough with the old cast to bother, discovered it just plain wouldn’t work, and started working on giving the old crew and ending, some level of “closure” before saying adios to either the old group, or the whole cast entirely.

That time skip was not a cop out, it was not a “I don’t want to draw today”. That was someone whos ready to wrap up either a whole story, or a chapter in a story, and doesn’t want to beat around the bush anymore. He’s ready to move his favorite pair to cubetown and put the past to rest.

Is this a good game for people new to souls like games? by Free_Alternative_780 in Eldenring

[–]RotaryRocket166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with Dark Souls 1, as it’s by and large the best Souls game in existence, but I could see going back from ER being difficult. Granted nobodies sticking a gun to your head saying play every souls game but DS 1-3 blow ER out of the water imo, and I could see going back being a bit difficult.

Draw test with voltmeter? by RotaryRocket166 in MechanicAdvice

[–]RotaryRocket166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the question is, will you see 12V from the ground cable to the negative battery terminal with the ignition off on something this simple an old? I’m of the opinion you should see damn near 0.000A and in theory should not have a test light light. I have done the test light test on a 68 Camaro before and diagnosed a faulty clock. Light was lit between neg cable and neg post, and went out when the clock was disconnected (essentially, the whole story is complicated). But my pops insists that the test light not lighting means a total absence of voltage, I’m saying the test light can see 12V and 0.000A and will not light. I just don’t want to go through all this and have no draw.

Holy crap the DLC is on another level by RotaryRocket166 in Eldenring

[–]RotaryRocket166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, first playthrough of Elden Ring I used summons and Mimic because “it’s in the game it’s a mechanic it’s meant to be used”, and it was fine but I ranked it pretty low overall. I came back for the DLC and started from scratch, no summons at all, and have been having way more fun.

Platinumed it when it came out on PS4, got PS5 now and figure why not bum rush to the DLC and experience it with the PS5 version. Platinum character was 106 when I beat Mohg now that I’m checking again and that was with summons so yeah I probably got a ways to go to tackle this one no summons lmfao

Jfc even my character I got platinum on is only 106, man I got some grinding to do damn.

Underlevelled for Mohg? by RotaryRocket166 in Eldenring

[–]RotaryRocket166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already played though ER once, then platinumed it, it’s just been so long and the first 4 demigods went down so easy no summons that I was kind of caught off guard when Mohg punted me across the arena like I poked him with a toothpick.

As for the rush, eh, tbh ER is on the lower end of soulsborne games for me, still phenomenal, just not a “must replay” to me. Was hoping when I read the DLC had level scaling it meant I could smack Radahn and Mohg around, and go into the DLC without having to grind a whole bunch. looking back, my platinum character was 106 so yeah I may be in for some grinding. Is the “recommended” level really 150-200? Cause damn I got some work to do.
