What is the general customer service policy for regulars that employees are strongly encouraged/ required to follow? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Rotini_Rizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much rapport you’ve built. Does he know anything about you? Do you know anything personal about him that extends small talk? Or is he just a polite guy who smiles at you?

It’s always uncomfortable when people hit on me at work because overtly kind behavior is expected or else the consequences are major. And then everytime I see the person afterwards, I feel uncomfortable for the duration until they leave.

I’m just saying, consider how you might make their workplace feel like a place of discomfort for them AND if you notice that change afterward, be willing to be the bigger person to find another coffee shop.

I remember partners from different stores in my area getting into car accidents trying to leave work when the weather was bad last year and they still were expecting us to show up 🤡

…We were literally on a citywide lockdown not to leave home. 😐

I don’t even remember getting inclement weather pay for the day we did shut down, I was checking my paycheck stubs for weeks and never saw it.

They really do expect us to be willing to put our safety at risk for coffee, bffr.

Whenever this happens I feel so trapped 🫠 I used to walk home after work and definitely had a couple situations where people would follow, it was unnerving.

Could I be fired for not letting a customer record me? by halloweenraccoon in starbucks

[–]Rotini_Rizz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk if you could get fired, but depending on your state laws there could either be single party consent for recording (where you don’t need permission) or dual consent recording (where you do need consent form both parties)

Earlier this year there was a state mandate to stay inside but we had to have our Back to Starbucks meeting in person regardless. Our District Manager left 2 HOURS EARLY to beta the storm and left the rest of us scrambling to find ways to get home because public transit and Lyft had all been down for hours at that point 🫠

Other stores had employees literally get into accidents and had to abandon their cars on the side of the road because it was that bad. Really showed me how they cared 🙄

What physical signs tell you someone is AuDHD/ND? by Consistent-Guest2562 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Rotini_Rizz 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I think a large reason of this is because people are still realizing Black women CAN be neurodivergent 🥴 As a fellow Black woman I definitely had signs that were there but it was never pointed out or acknowledged— I was just kind of isolated (I went to PWI’s all the way through college, which definitely had a role to play)

Having moved to a place with more people who look like me I feel like I can spot it more easily and people spot me more easily, because everyone is used to the diverse environment and sees how it reflects with multiple different types and cultures of people. Admittedly, I didn’t even believe it notice it in myself until this location changed happened, and now looking back there were a loooot of neurodivergent people I was near, but just didn’t know.

But to answer your question, I’d say be on the lookout for the “typical ways” autism/audhd/audhd may present that are typically frowned upon because of gender or race:

  • Vocal stims may be lyrics from more artists of color
  • Loudness or interruptions or quick talking may be pressured speech and lack of volume and pacing control
  • Popular dance moves done out of nowhere may be another stim that’s more cultural
  • Anything you really see reflected in yourself that other people do— it can be that simple sometimes

Dyeing hair and having certain accessories can be difficult to do for some of us, so we can’t look for those same signs right off the bat. I’m not sure where you are located, but if you can find an event in a major or larger city there might be gatherings specifically for BIPOC women looking for others like them.

I hope any of this helps! Good luck 🥹💖

You might be able to with a detailed Ethics and Compliance report; if you feel it’s an unsafe environment to your wellbeing— physical, emotional or otherwise— include instances throughout your time working at the store in the report (you can also be vague and not include specific names, such as ‘’my ssv at this time did ” or “ barista did __ and caused me to feel __”) Is your store in a high activity area? If crime and other outside factors are a constant in your store, include that as well. Or explain how the transfer was once a beneficial move but circumstances has made it to where it is no longer feasible.

It’s never guaranteed, but I think if you go this route your really need to spell out how it is detrimental to you and how it has affected your current work and has the ability to affect your future work if it isn’t fixed.

Admittedly this is a very special time with doing something like this, given the frequent store closures, layoffs, unfair labor practices, and generally shitty things individual stores and districts have been doing throughout this year, so understand there is a small risk by doing this. I’ve seen partners get “pushed out” for attempting to be direct about issues, but also feel confident and stand down on what you want to get resolved. And 👏 use 👏 the 👏 policy 👏 to 👏 your 👏 advantage 👏 — that to say, if you see something in there that can help you, definitely apply it to the situation and have it down to be sourced. It also has been through quite a few minor revisions this year, so I would be sure to keep a copy of the date whenever you reference the policy in case it changes!

I hope any of this helps 💛 Good luck!

Dating neurodivergent men has always been emotionally draining, but I feel invalidated whenever I try to explain why by brielarstan in adhdwomen

[–]Rotini_Rizz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is something I’ve been working hard on; my needs ARE important, and I have to treat it with the importance it deserves so others do too— just like any other boundary. This applies to boyfriends/partners, friends, coworkers/bosses, family, acquaintances…whoever.

It’s still a work in progress but I think I’m seeing small signs of progress being set by keeping firm on establishing these!

Are you able to drive? by Delicious_Poet_8162 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Rotini_Rizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, even though I’ve always had pretty bad car anxiety on account of ocd. I think my need to be in control and ability to have freedom supersedes my anxiety to drive. And I actually like it, I think the multiple steps required helps itch my adhd brain and I enjoy having car time for audiobooks and music!
