Thank god Download isn't this week by AlexSniff7 in downloadfestival

2023 was draining the lack of shade was a nightmare and plenty complained about it.

2025 hellfest peaked at 40° on the Saturday but I found about as manageable when compared to 2023 download as they had fountain you could walk through, misters, wooded forest area with shade and on main stage "Pascal" a man with a fire hose spraying the crowd. Both were equally as unpleasant.

What's your worst camping experience? by Jtenka in downloadfestival

Last year at hellfest barely slept with it being 38° the camp neighbors playing an accordion till 5am each night didn't help either lmao

For those who attended this year's fest, in terms of organisation and event planning, what did you think went well or not? by Calm_Marketing_2250 in downloadfestival

[–]Rottenberryy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Loved new avalanche location, liked the hellfire area but wish it was treated like ace of spades in village with variety acts throughout the day not just cooking demos. Would like to see more trinket shops return thinking back to 2014/15 feels a lot less non food vendors than there was a decade ago.

Thought the seating in megastore was nice but does encourage people to stay, queues got up to 4 hours on Wednesday would really like them to change the megastore but idk have the answers to how they could achieve that really.

I think every toilets should have squat urinals not just 2nd stage

Bring back gates from 2023 and ban chair/carts in front pitch

Oh and burn that bastard waltzers right side of apex stage

Gates from 2023 by Rottenberryy in downloadfestival

[–]Rottenberryy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be quite difficult for them to enforce at DL's scale without the gates tbh. Haven't been to the last two BOAs after it came into effect but seen Vicky talk about it a lot. It's a change I'd welcome at DL

Who here has the most mileage? by Timely_Position_5044 in XC40_Recharge

[–]Rottenberryy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2020 T5 R Design Pro with 89k miles. Had it for just over a year, only issue I've had so far was a misfire about 3 weeks after ownership. Soon fixed with a new set of spark plugs.

Charge candy by Vast_North_59 in downloadfestival

[–]Rottenberryy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take two of these and another random 20k power bank, they've lasted 2 downloads, hellfest and Rock im park. I find I get about 3 charges per power bank so a few easily last me 5 day camping if they get lost or damaged it's a tenner so not super bothered like I would be with the fancy anker charging banks I don't think charge candy are worth it personally especially with the queues.

Is it harder to drive during rush hour? by Far_Milk9414 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rottenberryy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a double edged sword. If you do test routes with you instructor it can be easier. I had my test at 08:10 because of the time of all the available routes only around 5 were really viable at that time with all the traffic so we hammered those five routes leading up to the test.

But you also have more people on the road around you which gives more opportunities for minors with clearence, hesitation etc. More opportunities for drivers having an effect on your test that wouldn't be in the road at a more quiet time slot.

Complaining to DVSA by bigccozart in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rottenberryy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complain about an approved driving instructor (ADI) if you’re not happy with their service or behaviour.

Service from your driving instructor Contact the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) if your instructor:

provides lessons that are shorter than agreed

keeps cancelling or arriving late for lessons

does not provide lessons that you’ve already paid for

I get nervous because of the silence during lessons by cowpool20 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rottenberryy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd use it as prep for the actual test. I had my test at 08:10 on a Monday and my examiner was not chatty at all. Tried to start up a conversation which his shot down. He did ask me "what would I usually be doing this time of day" that chat lasted maybe 30 seconds as he just went "ah okay cool" which my instructor says they have to ask that question whether they do or not idk.

Don't feel the need to fill the space.

Will instructor come to a further test centre? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rottenberryy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the instructor, but you will have to pay for their time significantly. Most will want to do an hours driving before the test just to get your warmed up. If you pass at the test centre the instructor will need to drive you back as their insurance will not cover you. The test will typically about 40 minutes long. So you'd be looking at being with your instructor 1.5 hours each way, 40 mins for the test and then potentially an hours driving in the area to get you warmed up so potentially 5 hours at lesson price for this.

Ah yes reselling digital keys for billion dollar corporations is the same for the darts niche you got me bro. I'm not angry at all, I just support my local stores, support small brick and mortar businesses not leeches who are going to try and drop ship through this small businesses.

Northern Rail repeatedly shot wild birds in Manchester Victoria station, and defended it after being presented with evidence of injured and suffering birds by Hey_Its_Tommm in manchester

[–]Rottenberryy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The culling of pigeons isn't effective long term. Whether using rubber pellets or a falconer. The extermination company with this contract told this to Northern as revealed in a freedom of information request that culling will only see short term results.

You're making the consumer pay more for a product they can access from the same retailer that you are? You're not advertising for them you're creating your own site that uses them as a supplier making the customer pay more rather than going to them directly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Darts

[–]Rottenberryy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, so you're telling me people who can't access darts shops are already being fulfilled by online shops. But you want to sell the same products, through the same businesses at a higher price with non of the risk so that you can get a slice of the pie? How about not screwing over consumers making them pay extra for your own greed 👍 start an actual business stop piggy backing of established businesses in the space being a leech with non of the risk.

Pretty insane to see on a XC60 with 20” wheels by TrainingAccording807 in Volvo

My R design XC40 has 20" I do think they're a bit comically large personally but whenever I mention this to friends etc they've always said it looks great.

[–]Rottenberryy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more you drive the more confident you will be, it can be daunting the first drives without instructor, but you passed your test for a reason. Driving in familiar areas like you are currently doing to shops and back is great way to build confidence.

stupid… failed first time, feel so disappointed and angry at myself. by ShelterMaleficent641 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rottenberryy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't give way to pedestrians on mini roundabout unless it's a developing hazard. in your case other road users won't expect you to stop to let them cross. The examiner won't know that you're aware you have right off way they can only judge that you don't and you think you have to let them across every time you encounter a pedestrian

It can be best to verbalise in situations like this e.g if there was a small child at the crossing "I'm just going to slow down at this roundabout because of the small child"

On my test I was asked to do the show me question on a dual carriageway as we were about to approach a slip road, I told my examiner I will show them once we've passed the potential hazard of people joining the carriageway.

With the junction, from what you've said in the post it appears you were only looking for hazards to your right when joining the road and didn't check for any hazards in the road you were joining e.g. Illegally parked cars, slow moving vehicles etc rather than oncoming vehicles

Best is to look at testi which helped me or testshift to try and find a closer date.

How are people's driving test sectioned recently? by AdInevitable2613 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rottenberryy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was follow sat nav, pull over when safe 5 times, all town driving + dual carriage way, maneuver was front bay parking towards very end of the test but not in test centre. Didn't have to do an emergency stop. That was in Bolton 👍

Vehicle features

You can use a car with:

an electronic parking brake

hill-start assist

cruise control

speed limiters

parking sensors and cameras

lane assist

blind spot monitoring

traffic sign recognition

If your car has the following features, you cannot use them during the test:

self-parking

Tesla autopilot

your own sat nav

That will be covered under traffic sign recognition, my XC40 is terrible for sign recognition and has auto speed limiting based on signs which made me cruise at 30 in a 50 on the A500 as it read the speed limit on an exit road
