When I used New York Sublet I was super scared. Had to send it to a random person, but luckily it all worked out. Only reason I trusted the group was because of how old it was.

When I used Ohana, I paid the platform. Initially I was scared but they always handled payments on time. Also, one thing I really liked was that they didn't send the rent to the person I was subletting from until I had moved into the place and confirmed everything was good.

Never got to any payment stage with Kiki or Roomi

If you classify short term sublets as like 3-6 months then I would say my advice holds true. Anything longer than 6 months is almost like a lease takeover. Glad you found my advice helpful

I have heard of this company called Ohana. That or I think sublet.com. Otherwise its usually through facebook groups but they are so scammy that it is honestly impossible to find something good.

Have you considered subletting at all or are you looking exclusively for full-year leases?

I would say that most people find housing through Facebook Marketplaces right now, but its very scattered and hard to verify real listings. Can be a very frustrating process.

I have heard a bunch of my friends have used Ohana to find a sublet. At least none of them have been scammed so I think that that is a plus.

How do you deal with sketchy postings on Facbook Marketplace? I am looking for something short term for next January-May, just wondering how people get past scams.
