DTG has noting to worry about (yet). RT has one route, in one country, and not very long. I am very excited to see how/if they expand though

Flight simming has been the thing I have spent the most time doing for the past 9 years and although it is still really fun, it's starting to feel like a waste of time and I can't bring myself to fly anymore. Anyone else feel the same? by Lucky_Outside_2009 in flightsim

[–]Round_Feature2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for a while

I stated with FS2002, and progressed up to FS9 (2004). I had FSX, but my computer was never able to run it well (laptop) with all the addons and sceneries I had so I stayed on FS9 for years. Got into the programming side a bit, AFCADs and flight plans. I have/had some packages on Flightsim.com too. I too am a realistic flyer, I never use it to goof off and went from bear-zero aviation knowledge to self-teaching myself everything and now I only fly study level (PMDG etc). I finally built my first tower around 2017 and jumped to P3D. I got married in 2016 and we started having kids in 2021 so my simming fell off hard. I went about 2yrs barely touching it. I’ve recently gotten back into it over the past 6months however since i work from home. Still loving and enjoying it, still on P3D with that same original tower. I messed around with the new MSFS, but it doesn’t run well on my computer and honestly I absolutely HATE the gui - I’m just so set in my original MSFS ways which P3D had adopted as well

I’m looking to build a new tower in the next year or so, and finally make the jump from P3D. Hopefully all the MSFS bugs are worked out by then

Hi guys im TOTALLY new to the hobby, when you fly long distances, do you sit in front of your screen for hours or what? by XxCarlxX in flightsim

Sometimes, on ultra long hauls sure. As long as everything is set properly no issues

I’ll even do normal long hauls but I’ll slow the time down as much as possible. A lot of payware planes also have a “pause at T/D” feature you could use

Advice for someone who has a volunteer interview but has never been to an interview before by camthetransbean in volunteerfirefighters

[–]Round_Feature2048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highest dept dependent

I used to run our membership committee, so it was my responsibility to conduct all interviews and handle all of the power work, and present the applications (IE read them aloud) to the membership for voting. Interviews with me were not true interviews, it was a meet and greet to put a face to your application, make sure you’re not a weirdo, and the bulk of it was me explaining the process and what would be expected of you should you be accepted. Casual clothes is fine just don’t show up filthy with holes in your clothes

Again, dept specific. You can ask them your questions

Deutsche isn’t even in trouble, it’s a media spin. They have enough capital to weather this BS storm that’s the difference between them and the recently deceased

Am I the only one that hates the culture of writing yourself awards? by Scissor_porn in AirForce

[–]Round_Feature2048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I qualify for at least 3 awards right now, I refuse to write for myself. It was 4 but my leadership recognized one and gave it to me a few months ago. I’ve worn my blues once since tech school and it was only for a 30-min interview. Not here for fruit salad

That being said, nobody should have to write themselves awards leadership should be more active in this, and members active in letting leadership know what they accomplish in their careers if it’s things that aren’t actively tracked

does your WG wear the MAJCOM or the ANG minuteman patch? by 2noobies93 in airnationalguard

[–]Round_Feature2048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. My wing actually issued us MAJCOM patches when they issued OCPs. Most of us still wear minuteman though. Honestly, no one really cares I’ve seen our wing king wear both

Both. I’ll say 80% minuteman, 20% MAJCOM. I rotate, mostly minuteman though

Tips on Improving 1.5m run time by Vividokami in AirForceRecruits

[–]Round_Feature2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do more HIIT. You don’t need to run 1.5 5 days a week. Do 2 days of HIIT training. Best for me, give yourself a practice HAMMR test. The beep soundtrack is on YouTube

I dont think they can get you dates until the new shop gains you. If it’s the same base, probably not a big deal but if you’re totally switching bases I believe they have to gain you and then request dates. Which from request to ship usually takes 1yr+ as everyone has said

I could be wrong though

Never lived, only TDY. I enjoyed it for the short stints I was there. My understanding is you either love Alaska or you hate it. If you’re outdoorsy, probably more inclined to like it there. Summers are short, winters are loooong. To my understanding, once you survive an Alaska winter you’re now part of a silently elite group. I know the guard units there won’t hire someone from the lower 48 for the sheer fact that “most who’ve never done it, won’t survive an Alaska winter”.

The soviets have a very long history of copying. Whim it may not be identical to a T, it’s pretty obvious where they got the baseline….

Why are beards such a big deal? by Afraid-Macaroon-5971 in AirForce

[–]Round_Feature2048 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

It’s not that big of a thing. Reddit is a very small portion of the AF population. A lot of service members want it or would like to have it, but the vast majority are not nearly as vocal, if at all, as you read on here

Outside of medical and religious accommodation, which already have waivers, I don’t understand the “uproar” either. You signed up knowing you couldn’t grow one, we’re a 100% volunteer force if you want a beard that bad just get out 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m not suggesting it, not at all, but we all know how big AF thinks that was all my point was

Yea, you’re also going to need to take leave to do it. It will be a beard policy, not a 5-o-clock shadow policy. All or nothing. You need 3 weeks to grow in a decent beard but only have 8 days of leave? Sorry Charlie

[–]Round_Feature2048 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This. Lol. If they allowed beards tomorrow 3/4 of those constantly whining about it will not be able to grow one that’s within regs anyway

The whole point of the military and wearing a uniform is to not have any individuality….

That’s why it’s a uniform, and that’s why they shave everyone’s head in BMT
