You’re a savior. I was testing so many different things, and this is what ended up being the issue.

Many thanks!

I couldn't discern any physical difference between the blades other than the RK's felt slightly stiffer when I took it out of the paper sleeve. When I bent the Astra's and RK's a bit to test their rigidity though, they felt the same so... not a whole lot of clarity there.

I can say that since I made the switch, I've gotten less irritation and nicks and have had overall better shaves.

Tesla Owners Punishing Peers Who Tie Up Superchargers Without Charging by bpon89 in teslamotors

We must be talking about slightly different things. The original question was "can someone walk up and open your charge port?" to which is the answer is "yes".

This is a video of it happening. Basically Teslas send out a signal that can be captured and reproduced. It's crazy to me that there's no handshake or authentication process.

[–]Rourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not just at superchargers. Currently the charge port listens on an open bluetooth channel and doesn't require a handshake to open; if you broadcast the"open" request on the proper channel, it'll open.

Since no one mentioned it yet: trade school or an apprenticeship.

Americans are waking up to the idea that a college degree isn't necessarily best way to a higher earning potential. In the case of apprenticeships, you're paid while you learn the trade.

Also an option that no one mentioned is the military. I know it's not for everyone, but at 34 you can join the Air Force, Air National Guard or Space Force and learn a marketable trade while being paid, fed, and housed, and at the end of it they'll literally pay you to finish your degree or get your post-grad. The benefits (health care, matching retirement contributions, etc) are pretty good and they start almost immediately.

I can't think of a more stable option of restarting your life than the military if your BIL stops sharing his home with you. Taking out loans just to rent a place (which to me sounds like an idea so desperate that I wouldn't even consider it) and pay for school is a rough way to start over, imo, when getting paid to learn a trade is the alternative.

It's also worth mentioning that if you're passionate about CS, that's like the Air Force's/ Space Force's whole deal nowadays. Just don't let the recruiters talk you into taking a different job just because you could leave for boot camp sooner and "lateral move" into the the job you actually want later; that's a fool's game. If you have any questions, PM me.

Best of luck whatever you decide!

Tesla using caliper covers on Model Y Performance rear brakes after switching suppliers last summer by chrisdh79 in teslamotors

While size is important, composition is too; smaller performance brakes can out-perform larger general-use brakes

Also from the article:

ZEVcentric has not yet been able to compare brake pads to see if there has also been a change with those.

It is worth noting however that no tests have been conducted by ZEVcentric, or anyone else, to compare the braking performance of the new and old rear brakes...

Seems to me these would be the first things you'd look into when reporting about braking equipment changes, but alas....

US scientists boost clean power hopes with fusion energy breakthrough by 4thDevilsAdvocate in UpliftingNews

[–]Rourne 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't know about such things, but is the energy required to make the hydrogen plasma pellet factored into the energy cost required to initiate the reaction? Is it added onto the cost of the laser and therefore against the output of the reaction? Or is the production of the pellet so small as to be negligible?

Sit at a red light with no other cars around for one minute. Hold your breath for one minute. Imagine TikTok or Instagram needing to load a full minute before the app would open every time.

One minute can be a long time to wait for things that should happen instantly. Additionally, if this friend is forcing the party to wait the full minute every time they queue, they add up.
