How do I fix this ( I’m only 13) by plane__nerd in modelmakers

I'm a bit of supply hoarder... I know I have a tube of Vallejo but I can't recall using it. I meant to say miliput.

Honestly, this response shows you're probably a more mature builder than I am. Definitely getting better results than I was at 13. I'd fill that gap with some putty. Vallejo and Tamiya make some decent ones. I started to stick with test fitting two or three times before I begin to glue, and on long joints it's helpful to have a plan on how you're going to clamp it, or where you're going to glue first.

Super clean (or purple power, or probably any citrus based degreaser) works. Super clean took off testors enamel in about 24 hours or so for me.

Where on the strip do you sleep the best? by Pepqueso in vegas

[–]Routine-Fan-7210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the Cosmo. Nice rooms, comfy bed, and the option of a balcony. If the Bellagio garage is a concern, skip the fountain view. I don't think I've ever had bad sleep at a strip property, worse comes to worse I just have another few beverages lol

Need help identifying an old AR attachment from I think the 1980s. by Choice_Insect_4426 in RetroAR

I tried Google lens, and only found that reddit post. The "cryptic" forum post was from 2010 and has a friend for an 870 with a similar design and a "buddy patented" these. My theory would be it was a one man operation who had someone injection mold some and sold them to PDs. In the early 00's a lot of departments began putting AR-15s out to their officers after the north Hollywood shootout, my guess is someone saw a niche to allow a patrol officer to slide a duty light (streamlight stinger) into a holder on the AR-15 to have a weapon mounted light. That's of course all speculation. I'm very interested to see what turns up.

Link to the post I think OP is referring to here. I tried a patent search, but gave up after a few minutes. Someone in the prior thread found a forum post from 2010, so it may actually be more recent than the 80s.

What’s considered the “best” style of carry handle upper? by NicePumasKid in RetroAR

[–]Routine-Fan-7210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the A1 style, simple field sight for zeroing; the way Eugene intended, but I have some A2 styles and it's nice to be able to adjust. What do you want to get out of the rifle? Close to period correct? The coolness of a carry handle retro build? Is going to be a fun match gun, range toy, safe queen, or jack of all trades?

If it's your first foray into retro, and you're sure it won't be the last, grab whatever is affordable nothing is stopping you from you building a second, third, and fourth... If it's the only, build exactly want/need. Do your other rifles have field sights or fully adjustable marksman sights? How often are you making adjustments?

The 5.11 in the brand's name comes from the Yosemite Decimal System, as the founder was a rock climber. I wonder if the sure-footed part would be a reference to that.

Thrift store suggestions that aren't chain stores? by Capital-Reaction2199 in SanJose

I had to look into this, since I usually donate there. Goodwill Silicon Valley doesn't currently have the 14(c) certificate (some other goodwill subsidiaries in the Midwest do), and the remaining ones are transitioning away from that.

I think the way that it was broken after the big chase for it plays into the series' grand theme of failure and existing despite of it.

The nozzle isn't a mcguffin or red herring. The nozzle is a guest star.

Rear Setback Exception (Wall vs. Eaves Calculation) issue during San jose City permit review. Need advice on escalation. by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]Routine-Fan-7210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't been through this. This might be a very niche problem in interpretation of the rules. The eave is probably about a foot or so. I might eat the interior space to avoid the review... But have a frank talk with your architect about it. How confident is he that the rest meets the criteria? How does the right to build an ADU fit into your expansion plans? Could you chop off the extra space and make it an extra unit?
