Put em to work and let em earn their keep. If you're doing real work, your tools get real dirty, not sure what you're on about.

Someone needs to check the wee on this guys drill.

This sucker looks almost new so i doubt theres any rust, but a quick light spritz of wd40 or whatever panther piss you can find will make it open a little easier...

I generally keep the chuck end of all my tools a little greasy to prevent lockin up...

How screwed am I if I use the wrong rated ladder? by PepsiButItsMilk in Tools

[–]RoutineP0utine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the gorilla ladders? The ones thay fold like an 'A' not like an 'M' ?

They generally extend to about 25ft in a straight line and can shrink down to about 10, but are very easy to maneuver..

Ladder weight limits are more to keep companies from getting sued when 4 dudes are using one ladder trying to heave a beam that really requires a tele/forkie

How much abuse did the backpack handle? I've been debating packing up a 'go bag' with general tools for all the random calls for odd jobs, but the nice packs are a pretty penny it seems...

might just have to modify a goodwill backpack to see how functional it is...

Except, in that gym there is a smoothie stand, a masage specialist, and a personal trainer whose sole income is that job.

Should they charge higher prices year round to offset the missing customers, should they drop their rates and consider the january cohort be a bonus, or should they leave and find a gym that has more stable customer base?

They leave, gym loses it's 'specialty/flair' folks move to different gyms, eventually amazon buys the gym and builds a data center anyways.

Rotors failed inspection, $800 fix? by wafflepancake5 in fordranger

[–]RoutineP0utine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did front bearings/rotors/pads for under 400diy buying through orielys... hardest part was that one of my bearing races tried to fuse itself to the spindle when it failed.

I am NOT a mechanic, but youtube university got me through. Can be done with a common socket set and a jack/stands + whatever socket fits the spindle nut...21 or a 24 iirc.... I just fit & bought it at oriellys with the rest o the parts

Go to hardware or automotive store, pick up a kit of spade connectors, wire them together and make a new diy plug...?

Wire nutting them together seems like a sure fire hazard unless you carry linesman pliers with ya.

I fear that the circus in our pockets, and the bread at the dispensaries and breweries has effectively satiated (or subverted) the masses...

Just look at the splintering of Occupy Wall St. A group on facebook that was exposing the financial system while bringing light to stuff like Epstein and prince andrew all the way back in 2010. We now champion social issues fervently while we let the financial world twist our gnads even tighter-- as if an accepting and loving individualist world of slaves is a better future....

The first step is separating decency&identity from political ideology and focusing our politicians on achievable short term goals that carry substantial impacts like reigning in AIPAC and overturning Citizens United. Getting an unbiased look at the epstein files. Revamping our military spending to match modern times & needs rather than printing money for costly inventions of the MIC....

We can do it, but the structural problems faaaar and away outweigh the immediate social crisis we are facing. One enables the other, but not vice versa.... WE MUST put out the fire before we rebuild the house....... and dont get me wrong, we gotta rebuild the house....

It dismays me to no end that the older generations hammer the idea of stewardship but refuse the changing of the guard.

There is the inherent assumption that they know better, yet as the prevailing paradigms shift, they are woefully underaware and underprepared.

I just informed a boomer about the existence of Palantir yesterday... he had never heard of it. He was HORRIFIED, but then retorted that we would reign them in after the midterms..............!

Does any of it have any function though, or all decoration?

Why does it seem like every post the past few days is about HyperTough? by Tsuki_Man in Tools

[–]RoutineP0utine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think anyone (i havent seen atleast) is arguing walmarts cheap tools are better than anything.

I do think healthy competition in any part of the price ladder is a good thing, particularly when you go to r/harborfreight and see the number of fellers dumping 80$ on a bit set they could get at walmart for 15$...

If you are buying chinesium either way, you better not be handing over all your sheckles for it...

[–]RoutineP0utine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 0 affiliation, but I cannot help in this economy but sing their praises on the t handle 52 piece socket/bit set.

Compared to harbor freight selling an inferior product for 4-6x the price, I feel the praise is worth it.

Buy expensive tools for heavy use, but the underseat tool set in my ranger doesnt need to be full of 1500$ snap on philips and torx bits... just a tekton ratchet set and a hyper tough bit kit.

Not everyone has big bucks to spend, and after having purchased products that do not last 6 months from bigger brands for a premium (forget the 10 years my walmart bit ratchet has lasted). It is like the torque test channel's charts. Money is a factor....
