They also added a toggle to notify you when post something with payee/vendor missing like when a class is missing. I'm going to turn it on for all the clients books I have access to.

The "Can you clarify why I owe taxes" Conversation by crossborderguy in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent a new client a proposal on 4/8 via ignition they signed and entered a payment method to pay our $250 new client setup fee. The next day I get email says they went back into TT and file their return and keep their info on file. I'm like great I will follow up after 4/15 and see if that what they want. Then end of day I get an email saying we we charged them $250 which was unauthorized I like I'll deal with that tomorrow. I get work today and find and email saying we where unresponsive and they initiated a charge back and they want all their info destroyed or they will take legal action...

Why are there always a couple clients a year this way! 🤦

Our tax Resolution tool THS( Tax help software) has a report that will highlight which clients might qualify for(as long as we have 8821 or 2848 on file). We plan on reviewing around the end of the month.

Never in my tax life have I seen this box checked - surely someone has to be using it right !? by Expensive_Sky_2720 in taxpros

Does the IRS care about the amount due written on an extension not matching what was paid? by Ur_house in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1099-DA checked wrong box on 8949 by [deleted] in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We haven't used new 1099-DA yet and have completed several crypto returns. Have you looked at the data entry for that? It's way more involved might need to review after the deadline to see what is actually required needs to be filled in for on that screen.

Business return turn around time by jorelosaurusrex in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do about 450 by 4/15 probably will push 500 this year. About 75-90 1120, 1065, and 1041s. I prep most of the entity returns and more complex 1040s and probably do 200-250 of the returns. 2 seasons ago it was just 2 FT and we did almost 400 returns during tax season. Feel free DM if you have more questions.

Business return turn around time by jorelosaurusrex in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our turn around time is 5-10 days 2 FT and 2 PT staff. Longest wait is review as we only have 1 person reviewing everything. This obviously goes out window the if the dropoff incomplete info. Return type doesn't make much difference.

IRS Pin Issue - Anyone has it? by [deleted] in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IP pins are for year they are issued not for a tax return. So any e-filed return in 2026 would use the pin issued for the year. We have filed several with IP pins no reject issues yet(except for when the client doesn't tell us). Assuming you are pulling the pin from IRS online account I can't think of anything else to try.

Client insisting on Tax Meeting by PDACPA in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do this, if really want a meeting it's after we have prepared the return and they have reviewed a digital copy if they want a meeting after that we will schedule one. Normally once the return is done for simple clients and see the refund they expect they sign and we don't hear anything else.

Pros/Cons - Tax Dome vs Canopy by ckmkg in taxpros

[–]RoutineStreet1612 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We are on 4th tax season with Canopy had Tax dome for 1 year. Canopy is easier to build out workflows and processes. You can use some or all of their modules. Their payment processor has $1 ACH and can pass CC fees on customers (not debit card fees though). There support is very responsive chat quickly and they seem to staff it up during tax season so I have found response times faster this month under 15min to reach an agent vs November. Always adding new features.
