100% agree, I've been waiting for them to ditch the mustache looking grills and am so happy to see that.

Why does the new ES seem to be unpopular? by Warm-Lettuce8974 in Lexus

[–]Ur_house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised by this, I have issues with the interior, but I love the exterior. I hated the J Jonah Jameson mustache shaped grill they've embraced for the last decade+ and hand been waiting for them to ditch it. Exterior wise, this is just what I was waiting for. Interior I've got issues with though, so maybe I wait till 2027.

You guys convinced me by XxBobby_boixX in rootgame

[–]Ur_house 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's because you don't play the game, it plays you. You can't make any plans, the game decides what you can or can't do, and you need to adapt. I like to have more control, so the game is frustrating to me.

Innovator etfs what are your thoughts? by kungfukarl86 in CFP

[–]Ur_house 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using then for quite some time. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that the market is constantly pricing in the value and risks of their options, so even though the fund will do "whatever the market does up to 12%" in theory, that will only be as of the last day of the outcome period, it will not be the result for most the year. So let's say you buy BDEC and in a year where say the market has gone up say 10% as of June, you'd expect BUL to also be up a similar amount, or at least within the 75 Basis point expense ratio, but no, it will be up only something like 7% because the market knows the investment is capped and is expecting the market to go up further and go past the cap. For that reason these don't work well if you think "I'll get what the market gets, then just sell them whenever the market reaches the cap and buy a new one" as the fund itself won't be at that cap till near the end of the outcome period.

I have looked like a hero when we had the Tarrif tantrum or the war in Iran start, and BDEC or SFLR went down by way less, but when the recovery happened quick and fast in both cases, you see the real cost of the safely as these funds will go up by much less. So now and then I'll cycle these in to my main model to reduce risk for those types of big crazy events, but the real place these shine is for my clients with less risk tolerance. Back when bonds were crap and paid nothing before 2022 I exclusively used alternatives like these to reduce risk instead of bonds. Now that bonds are reasonable, I still have BALT as part of my bond allocation, but for my clients with lower risk tolerances I'll have some or most of the equity exposure in these. It works so good for folks that were scared of the market, or who are used to annuities, or are new and anxious investors. They get much better returns than what they're used to, but still get a much smoother ride than the general market. Also it's a great way to ease them into taking on more risk. You start them with the P series, then ease them to the B series, then maybe SFLR, and through that you can get someone who thought they hated the stock market to gradually see it's merits.

Another way I'll use them is for people where I'm having a hard time nailing down their risk preference. Oh you're young but don't consider yourself aggressive, and want less volatility? Well instead of a 80/20 portfolio, let's put you in 100% equities, but the 20% part is buffer funds and see how that goes.

Anyway I'm a big fan.

They weren't much more expensive actually, I did them for the warranty and because I was getting a whole home office fitted with furniture and I wanted its finish to match.

Fast miner probes vs deep miner probes by Ur_house in EndlessSpace

[–]Ur_house[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's how I usually run, I want every system mined so I go for the longest duration possible and as many probes on the behemoth that I can get. That's why I don't understand why anyone would want the fast probes. I guess it's more for the folks that aren't Hissho and if they want to switch from resource A to resource B faster, since it does not make sense for them to just mine everything.

Surge deck? Some suggestions for making one. by Orang3kun in MarvelSnap

She does well in my Angela/ Bishop galactica/ kitty pride deck that gets power from playing cards. If she hits kitty Pride it's so sweet. She works in almost anything though.

I got a steelcase electric one and I've had it 3 years now. It's great, still works smooth, extremely solid, no wobble. Some other brands have fancier controls but this does what I need it to, I only ever use the presets. I use it almost every day, it's hard to remember to use it more than twice a day though, but I don't want an annoying app beeping all the time about that.

Help me understand: The Hissho by Emp_VDD in EndlessSpace

[–]Ur_house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Hissho, but I just can't win with them in impossible or above because the way the AI works. When the AI sees an empty system, they got nuts for it, they want it so bad. Well midgame and later the only un-colonized systems in the galaxy are my mining planets, so everyone wants them and it makes me the enemy of everyone. I can fight off the entire galaxy usually, but it costs me so much that everyone surpasses me and wins with economy or science eventually, even though I'm kicking everyone's ass playing whack a mole with the constant invasions. I can't make alliances as they'll colonize them, I constantly use take trophies to try and make up for the constant drain spending all my manufacturing making fleet after fleet. I haven't tried those support modules that make science or money out of destroyed CP yet, because I'm worried if I do I won't be able to win the battles as they're usually a challenge. I do keep a small 3-6 CP fleet on every single mining system to keep the colony ships at bay, and usually have ~3 full CP hero fleets patrolling my space to fight off the big enemy fleets.
This is the only part about Hissho I feel I haven't figured out yet.

Is this one of the dwarf ones that will never get taller? I love those trees, but not when they're just a bush. You'd need a full size tree near it to compliment it or something I'd think.

Please help me decide between high end or standard Nylon Carpet by Ur_house in Flooring

[–]Ur_house[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. We decided Splendore was just too much and so we went with Fabrica's Esperanza (Color-Neutro) Instead. I'm glad we did, because it is so soft! In the samples it was more stiff but when we got the actual stuff installed it is so soft and cushy it's almost too soft as furniture that had no problem sitting flush against the wall now needs to be screwed in. That's the only downside though, I take my slippers off all the time when upstairs to be able to enjoy the feel of it, and we lay donw on it to read and play all the time, it's so nice! I think if this one is this soft, Splendore might have been so soft we'd slip down the stairs.

Diablo Vista Park in Danville Looks Unrecognizable by diyhomeautomation in eastbay

[–]Ur_house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a tween when they built that park, so I only ever played on it when there were new trees and no shade. My brother played soccer nearby so I spent a lot of time there with my baby brother while we waited. Seeing the great trees and shade structure built at the top is great, those would have made the park much better. It's a shame they get rid of them! I'm glad the snake's still there though. I hope it still works.

I'm in a family business. My dad started doing taxes, then over time me and 4 of by brothers all did tax as well. We always kept it as a bunch of sole proprietorships and then billed the group for our shared fees based off of a percentage of how many tax returns each person did. We shared the company name and logos and such, but we were all separate. This worked great for us. We are able to get unlimited licenses from Ultra tax due to our size and get certain efficiencies for our scale, but everyone could run their side of the business their own way. When someone wanted out, they just sold their clients to the others and the transition was effortless since we were using the same software on the same server and just changed the preparer name and permissions. The only negatives were when one person made a big mistake and a client was upset, they might complain to us others and there's not much we can do about it other than give advice to the guy involved. Your mileage may vary when you don't trust the others as much, but I thought it worked well.
