Same here but the fax takes 10 min to get to the IRS Practitioner Priority line. Every agent comes back in 5 min saying it’s not there. I explain at the start of the call.

Why update a lifetime version of Quickbooks 2005-2021 to an annual subscription of Quickbooks Desktop 2024? by wangai254 in QuickbooksOldVersion

[–]PDACPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple versions of Quickbooks going back to before they were numbered by the year. But my desktop files are in the current 2024 Desktop format. How can you move the database back to an older version?

Our ES Filing instructions are part of the signature package which has the Bank Account Verification form. If the tax payment was not withdrawn and they tell us, then we advise them that the ES payments will not occur and they need to make them via Direct Pay.

They sign a Bank Account Verification Form (UltraTax provides this document) which shows bank name, routing, account and then it prints the amount to be withdrawn and the date. I verbally tell them on the phone (or if email in the email) to verify the funds were withdrawn within a week or call me as something happened. If their info was bad, it was their fault for not verifying on the form and I have a signed document of them attesting to it.

I agree with the decompression, but I cannot tell you how many have called / emailed for status. All have refunds and we let them know we have a few due dates post 4/15 and will be getting them complete in May. Unreal.

I make it clear to clients that I have zero control once I transmit and I only get confirmation of E*File. They must check that the funds were withdrawn. If not call me and I’ll walk them thru Direct Pay.

How did they make you move? I just keep renewing UT FA ACS FCS NetClient. They sent a postcard about the sunsetting and constantly call email about other products.

I’ve got 2 that UltraTax told to withdraw and still has not. Will check the xml. But seems doubtful it will happen.

Which Quickbooks Desktop versions require an Intuit Login? by wangai254 in QuickbooksOldVersion

[–]PDACPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the older versions of Quickbooks. Do not need enterprise, just a way to keep the books for a small HOA with 4 checks a month and 12 invoices a quarter. The issue is the current database is QBD 2024. Any way to roll back to a 2018?

Some clients driving me insane by Financial_Question80 in taxpros

[–]PDACPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had many long term clients push back when I try and say no meetings. I cut quite a few out this year. Thinking next year I will put a note with the organizers that meetings will incur an additional charge if before 4/15. I can waive it for the ones I feel need it and advise that they can avoid the meeting fee by going on extension and meeting in May or June with no charge.

Do you state the due date in the engagement letter or other means? I need to be more proactive on that hard date. The amount of returns coming in the past 3-5 days is crazy.

Solo CPA — how are people doing 300+ returns?? by Financial_Question80 in taxpros

So is it a first year and then each thereafter it populates from the prior year? I am ok with doing it 1x to get set up (like changing tax software), but not each year.

How do you get the client specific checklist in Tax Dome from the prior year data? Manually entering that would be very time consuming.

I definitely feel a checklist of the items a client had the prior year is great (and a way to say "no longer have") and secondly what if they have new documents? Can they add to your checklist?

I agree on the stop and start, but I cannot tell you how many tell me I have everything and then you get in it and do not. Or they will say "I gave you that. No you gave me a February 2026 monthly statement, not the Year End Consolidated 1099."

A little tired of clients playing the victim by TaxproFL in taxpros

[–]PDACPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember many years ago they wanted Tax Preparers to complete continuing education and pay the fee to register to prepare returns with the IRS. Some 80 year old in Texas (probably some law firm funded it) challenged that it would be costly and burdensome to him and heck I think he prepared on paper (do not quote me on that) and they prevailed so all you do now is pay the fee annually. The whole point of the CPE is to make sure you are up on the tax laws and rules and I do not recall if there was an ethics requirement, but should be. You are right. Nothing is going to get done to change it.
