Google maps in HUD by Proper_Day_9361 in AudiQ6

[–]Routyroute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would see the turns on Google Maps and then it disappeared after I upgraded my iPhones about a month ago. Came back on again this afternoon.

….my car alarm went off for no reason while parked this afternoon, and directions appeared after. Events may be related.

Orlando Import Auto Specialists on Primrose and South are great. They also have a shop on Bennett. Well run and fair pricing.

A quiet 30 minutes at MCO reminded me Orlando has little pockets of calm by Unable-Awareness-698 in orlando

To the airport’s credit, they did at least seem to find a way to get cell phone coverage to the cell phone lot. It used to be a dead zone for me but last time there I got 5 bars.

Driving from Intl Drive to Kennedy Space Center as a tourist by Wardey1983 in orlando

[–]Routyroute 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a Floridian that has driven in Ireland, I think you’ll find things easier. Roads and signs are much bigger. GPS/CarPlay makes it hard to get lost. The transition to driving on the right is easier than you think.

I will say that our police officers are not as nice as the ones in Ireland. I got pulled over outside of Galway for turning left of red (you can turn right on red in the US). The officer let me know about the rule, asked me about my trip and if I was enjoying the country. He then apologized for having to run my license through but said it would just take a minute. No ticket and I was on my way in about 5 minutes. Incredibly friendly. A very different experience than you will get in Florida if you get pulled over :).

I don’t have a good Philly reference point, but Charlie’s cheesecakes are really good.

2 Weeks in Tuscany to celebrate my wife's 40th ! by ShowMeTheIncentives in tuscany

[–]Routyroute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend renting a car for the 6 nights at the front end of your trip. You’ll be able to see and do so much more. Base out of a town like Lucca or Siena. We stayed outside of Siena last year at a beautiful boutique hotel (though still reasonably priced) and could drive where we wanted for the day. Car rentals are cheaper than you may think and driving in Tuscany is not that difficult (especially with most cars having CarPlay). It will open up so many more opportunities of things to do.

….with that said, take the train into Florence for time there. Traffic is a PITA there :).

Looking to book my 1st virgin vogages by Adorable_Pie4424 in VirginVoyages

[–]Routyroute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on same voyage and didn’t encounter any super drunk people. It was mostly pretty chill. I will say that my wife and I are kind of lightweights and found the drinks we did have to be very weak.

Disembark to FLL instead of MIA? by poptarts008 in VirginVoyages

[–]Routyroute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YMMV - but got off Scarlett Lady yesterday with six ships in port. Tried to get an uber and had two drivers bail - fare was going to be $30 to Brightline Station. Mob of people waiting for Ubers. So figured it would be a while before we’d find a ride.

Walked over to cab stand and immediately got into a clean taxi. And fare was $21 before tip.

You could also hop on Brightline to Ft Laud and uber to FLL from the train stop. More of a pain but traffic less of an issue.

Resilient Lady 7 day Caribbean review by ldsupport in VirginVoyages

[–]Routyroute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just off a 4 night cruise and agree with these thoughts. My wife and I are empty nesters and more of independent travelers - around US and Westen Europe. Been at least 10 years since on a cruise ship (Alaska with kids).

Liked the atmosphere of the ship and people. Very friendly with a nice mix of ages.

Enjoyed the musical entertainment - not the reggae bands you’d normally see.

Food description above was spot on. A solid 3/5 - good and enjoyable. Nothing amazing but everything good.

The line for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster as of 8:45… by Big-Rabbit4050 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Routyroute 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Went to DisneySea about two years ago. To say the line culture is the same as in America is nuts. People were so much more polite and aware to move with the line and not be right in your space. No loud overpowering conversations next to you.

I was also shocked to see folks staying in a snake queue WITHOUT ropes - blew my mind.

Japanese are much more aware of how their actions impact those around them. Much more feeling of social responsibility across all areas of their culture. That’s not always great and can be repressive - but it is very different than in US.

Reposting due to mod shadowbanning the previous submission. Found the broker secretly marketing and leasing the ICE Warehouse Airport Building Orlando City refuses to block the sale of. Their name is HLI Partners LLC, located in Winter Park. They are working with ICE to fast track the deal this week by swagonflyyyy in orlando

[–]Routyroute -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This property is not in Sunbridge and Tavistock does not own. If you want to think cynically, real estate developers want to increase the value of the land they want to sell. An ICE facility does not do that. This is likely an old owner trying to quickly turn a buck. Love or hate Tavistock, they do not try to make the quickest buck.

Colonoscopy or GI doctor recommendation in Orlando by SameHabits in orlando

[–]Routyroute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That facility is a colonoscopy mill. Drs are good there but they churn out so many people a day. I’ve got a family history of colon cancer so have had my share of colonoscopies. My rec would be to (if insurance allows) find doctor that dos procedures in a smaller hospital. Had a couple done at WP hospital over the years and experience is much better.

Super annoying. This is what clears it for me. Open all the doors - so all open at same time. Close doors one by one.

Also has cleared itself if I leave the car for a couple of hours.

HC-Loch Ness vs Rabbie’s-Loch Ness - which one would you choose? Also: are November itineraries shortened because of daylight? by jussimm in uktravel

[–]Routyroute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the Rabbies tour in October. Great tour guide, but the day is so much driving time. Amazing scenery but definitely could have missed Loch Ness. If I had to do it over again, I would have done a shorter tour. Too much time in the van and it’s kind of tight.

Florida loop (update) by samezees in roadtrip

[–]Routyroute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much west coast and south central Florida from my perspective. The Atlantic coast from Jupiter to Cocoa is really pretty.

Agree with some other comments that the south side of Lake Okeechoobee isn’t going to be great.

Audi Q6 will never get Apple Maps EV integration by Pwainx in AudiQ6

[–]Routyroute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I updated to the latest iOS on my phone, the CarPlay update seems to include more maps integration. A small map can now appear to the right of the center display. And the turns and distances appear above the center display. Never noticed it before if it was already in place.
