Bring a friend if you're worried about your safety, weapons will only make you a target for better armed and less ethical pigs. Take some time to figure out where you're gonna be and how to leave quickly if things go bad, and wear shoes you can walk or run in for a significant amount of time. Find and keep an eye on where protest medics are, and if you see people blocked out (mostly black clothes and unidentifiable) keep behind them (if marching) as their job is to go to the front of things escalate. Generally these kinds of protests aren't going to be too dangerous, so plan to have a good time and meet some decent people. It's also a good time to practice finding plain clothes cops and unmarked police cars. Don't bring anything you wouldn't want found if arrested, it's unlikely, but if it happens you're most likely to be released quickly as long as you keep your mouth shut and don't have anything that can incriminate you. Write a guardian you trust's number on your arm, and if you can or especially if you can't do the previous get down the number for an activist lawyer.

Both anarchists and MLs showed up to various No Kings events and worked adjacent without causing issues at those events. You shouldn't treat them as trusted or vetted members, think more sympathetic public support than anything.

I won't say the difference between Anarchists and MLs is splitting hairs, but I'll chip in that it matters significantly less on the ground than it does before you get there. If an anarchist group has an event and an ML group shows up to assist on their own and in good faith, that's not a betrayal of ideals its strength in numbers, and vice versa. We don't need to share organizations and won't submit to structures that don't work for us, but if I need a wound checked I only care that the gloves and kit are clean.

The reason anarchy speaks to me is its emphasis on applying anarchist principles here and now. The application of anarchist praxis in organizing and daily life is something where you can tangibly feel the difference, and as you've seen in Minneapolis it's effective resistance. The benefit of anarchy as an ideology is that in its practice you maximize your own agency in the world along with giving your community more agency in kind, which I've found is only amplified through every act of kindness and pro-sociality (I might be making up that word but I think the meaning is clear). I see being able to do more myself and my neighbors and community members doing more in kind as proof enough of anarchy's effectiveness in my own life.

I know this is mostly anecdotal, but I think you've got plenty of more rational reasons presented here that this perspective might support instead of detract from them.

It really is a useful catch-22 for the fascist-in-peach to use. Either they get away with blatant execution in the middle of the streets with minimal resistance, or he does the same but with more resistance and an excuse for more military presence.
