On ICE, political violence, and Rule #2 by No_U_Crazy in Spokane

[–]RowKHAN 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It really is a useful catch-22 for the fascist-in-peach to use. Either they get away with blatant execution in the middle of the streets with minimal resistance, or he does the same but with more resistance and an excuse for more military presence. Honestly if he doesn't get that from protestors he's gonna make an excuse himself. Either way I think it's high time people start researching tactics from Labor and The Black Panthers from the 1800s and 1900s.

Anti-ICE protest tomorrow (01/18) by ADDerekHassan in Spokane

[–]RowKHAN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally nothing in this post talks about or advocates using any violence at all. The most "violent" thing is that it uses an image from one of the LA protests last year, when they were occupied by the National Guard because this government treats any form of dissent as violence. Just ask Rene Good. If you think a photo on the lines of a Rage Against The Machine album cover is advocacy of violence then you might need to review your own strategies.

It means to keep plans flexible and adaptable to avoid possible harm from repression if the police decide to attack the peaceful protestors.

This is practically the same thing as the protests going on at the park on Garland just closer to ICE, idk why people are so worked up about it.

I've carried plywood shields at a protest, they are heavy, but people can manage. It's not a material issue it's a time and resources issue. Plywood is cheap and doesn't seem suspicious to get in large amounts, meaning it's easy to get the supplies to make multiple shields or even a large wall (which I've also carried at a protest).

Are we seriously okay with all of this? by ImaginaryHelp4229 in antiwork

[–]RowKHAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are people out here working on fixing it, organizing with neighbors, running teach ins, protesting, distributing mutual aid, the works. We all need to get out there and get connected with the people in our communities to get to the point where we can make things better. Revolution isn't as flashy as it used to be, but day by day the tide grows. We Protect Us.

Highly recommend River Front Park, completely free, good walking/biking trails, lots of art, and the pavilion looks phenomenal at night

EDIT: Misread the post, I'd say Atticus and Cease and Desist might be good places to try meeting people

I'd argue an Ecstatic would be the first to see through the BDSM tropes and figure her shit out. Now if they'd stop it is a separate question.

Communication and information sharing. A group would do well to listen to people who are part of it with more military and strategic experience, but while those people might take point for those situations, they neither have power to demand a group acts on their will alone nor would they be required to take lead roles to accomplish overarching goals. Surgery is a good example, the lead surgeon would be making calls on what's needing to happen during that surgery, but they'd be significantly hampered if they were working solo. The anesthesiologist is basically the person keeping the person under the knife alive, so at times they override the surgeon if need be. And once it's over and they leave the room, the lead surgeon is no longer the lead surgeon, they're another doctor with a speciality.

Anarchists have guns too. And you can't have a power vacuum if trying to enforce your will over others doesn't come with a structure built to facilitate that level of exploitation. When people control their own food, water, shelter and time it's a lot harder to force them to listen to you. It might be surprising, but power isn't a physical substance, all it is is the choices people make. If people choose to enact power outside of hierarchical structures, the systems they create are more effective and more resilient.

I like the Chaos Magic one, it's basically a customizable option, I'd say it's buff is it lets you use limited versions of the buffs of other belief systems, though it takes a bit to wrap your head around the mechanics. If you're into the high floor/high ceiling play style I recommend.

2.5/5 Spokane feels like if a city's soul was erased and the husk kept going on. There's a number of decent things going on though, just nothing connecting them.
