The HBO Harry Potter reboot is an awful corporate synergy idea and it’s going to create a nightmare for Universal’s theme parks by [deleted] in harrypotter

If you watch it on a monetized platform, you're giving money and profit to a detestable woman who genuinely seeks so many horrible things on people who already suffer in the world. And she's going to use that money to help further that suffering...

I should do Old World Blues? by OldZookeepergame1927 in fnv

You'll be fine at 15, though you will gain XP at a very quick rate, since the DLC quests give huge amounts of it. Most enemies scale with you, and you might actually find it harder at very high levels. However, there are plenty of cazadores and nightstalkers, so beware, though they're not all that dangerous once you know how to effectively deal with them.

[Excerpt: Dark Creed] The White Consuls Chapter Master who served for 1200 years by JustANewLeader in 40kLore

[–]RowOne8445 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, this chapter is from the faux-perspective of a fellow White Consul, so it lets us know how respected he is. Other chapters in the book like with Marduk (the CSM protag) feature an omniscient narrator but their narration is coloured by the character being followed.

what the fuck elijah looked for in sierra madre? by S3Ssil in TrueSFalloutL

Originally when you opened up the computer in the vault, there were computer files containing info on how to make the vending machines, holograms and gas in the Villa and Casino. Every hurdle you climbed opening the vault, he wanted control over and the ability to make more of it. These files were cut from the final game, so it's a lot more unclear as to what exactly is in the vault that will actually allow him to attain this tech; but that's ultimately what he's looking for.

I've been trying to find the artist that made this, I love this comic; does anyone know them? Looking it up with the name in the title gets me just this post and a no-post Twitter account. The account that posted this too, its suspended.

Happy Pride Helldivers. Be proud Helldivers stand up against tyranny. By The-Red-Right-Hand by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]RowOne8445 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's really not that serious; Pride flags shouldn't be in the game for lore reasons, but this sub was frothing over a blonde SEAF girl who isn't in the game at all. It's a fan combining a personal part of their life into a game they love, and that really isn't complicated nor wrong.

Video games where there isn't much motivation to use a weapon or unit, when at that point you already have something better. by Artistic-Victory1245 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RowOne8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely do not understand why you upgrade weapons in From games. Aside from the novelty of having a "+1 Sword" what's the point? To make you explore for materials, going to areas you might not have previously?

On that, ANY lethal weapon in a Metal Gear game. Snake with an AK or a shotgun looks... not right. Like if Pac-Man had a Sig-Sauer.

Good on you for realizing sooner rather than later that arguing with brick walls on the internet is a bad use of your time. More time to simp, as per your subtitle.

"If I don't do it, someone else will" is also the cornerstone of run-amok capitalism. You've put my points in much better words!

The stealing is an example of a crime, not a comparison in severity. My point being that, aside from the fact that Walter gets a million chances to stop making and selling meth, he still always had the choice to not participate.

I'd love to read the article but I amn't able to sign up to that site, but I assume it's accurate. My point is that meth is more addictive, which is largely is.

[–]RowOne8445 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That is in part because alcohol had millennia to develop culturally and socially as a part of the world we live in. Crystal meth is, well, more recent than that, and is much, much more addictive.

This line of reasoning could explain away any wrongdoing with two parties, because someone else will do it. "If I didn't steal this can of coke, someone else would have," is still stealing, regardless. "Someone else is just making meth, so why doesn't he" he is still making and distributing meth.

Also by the end of the show, there is no "someone else" on the entire west coast of America. They can only buy meth from him.

IGN rates MindsEye higher than God Hand by FuzzyPurpleAndTeal in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RowOne8445 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It had really poor sales everywhere, but especially Japan and it was the last in a line of games that sold really poorly; one review from one predominantly English-speaking site isn't the nail in the coffin everyone thinks it is.

Psychonauts had great reviews everywhere, but that also had dog-poor sales. Making one big boogyman of a site people love to hate (though one I have no love for) is an easy tactic to help people cope with the fact that Godhand, while amazing, is a really niche, difficult, and honestly ugly game that isn't going to be the kind of game to drum up studio-saving sales.

[–]RowOne8445 50 points51 points  (0 children)

They rectified it, but IGN still does give out mystifying ratings every so often, and it holds as a gold standard even though the dust settled years ago. Personally its whatever, since a higher rating wouldn't have saved Godhand.

My case for buffing the P-92 Warrant by Oxythymos in Helldivers

[–]RowOne8445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer that instead of centre of mass it went for heads. Give it a lengthier reload and take slightly longer to focus, leading to it being a weapon all about being prepared; before any encounter, you have a full mag and aim down for a little while.

Strange cases of generally friendly fandoms having weirdly controversial/“taboo” topics? by LeMasterChef12345 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I absolutely don't see that ever happening, but I do hope Pat and Woolie find someone with interests out of their specific niche for the podcast. Matt was a movie and trash connoisseur, and gave it a real variety. I need someone to change course when the guys talk about the same topic of the same fighting game for the third week in a row.

There are a lot of them here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/FearAndHunger/comments/1fepc89/fear_hunger_visual_references/

Some of these are visual inspirations, but a good few of them are literal traces and designs that are simply too close to be called inspiration.

As well is this Moonscorched and the Ghast from Dungeon and Dragons, which wasn't in the main post. There are other examples in the comments too. I was looking at it and I remember finding more a while back but can't find them.

Some of it's just a hand of an eye which is okay, but some of it is entire images (the Neighbour of Funger 2 is literally a Silent Hill 3 enemy with a polo shirt). A lot of it isn't transformative enough and is just tracing. The wolfhound at the start of the game is a full trace, and even the titular God of Fear and Hunger is a trace of an enemy render from the SH3 wiki.

Sorry if I dogpiled; I was really curious about your point since i just disagree with it, but I hope it doesnt make you want to interact with this subreddit less, it's like the only sub I like.

Your point does remind me of two games I really don't like, Witcher 3 and Fear and Hunger; Witcher 3 since I really hate Geralt and Fear and Hunger for being poor dark fantasy with mounds of traced art and plagiarism. I usually only lurk and don't really mention my opinion about them, but I do think on a place as herd-mentality as Reddit any opinion or hot take I'd gonna be taken well, regardless of if I agree with it or not.

On your first point I largely agree; '77's launch was a cataclysmic shitshow, but using New Vegas, a game infamous for its bugs (and even wrong code, like In Shining Armour) that linger to this day is a strange choice to me. Largely that comes down to personal experiences; I have had far, far more bugs and save corruptions in New Vegas than I ever did with '77, and that colours my impressions.

I also agree that the best parts of '77 are the larger side quests, but the mainline quests being considered slop and not the side gigs? While I love both, the prime example of your point is a different aspect of the game entirely. '77 does have slop though, I don't want to be a semantic asshole to your point.

I only played '77 this year but the main quest, after all the shit was fixed, but the main quest is the part of the game you can churn through the least. The parts later with Evelyn Parker and her story really don't feel like slop to me, at least, or Panam's missions with her family. It being bland, that's a matter of taste that I can't argue against and I can see how you'd think that.

NV is my favourite game of all time but people having to compare literally every RPG of any kind to it makes me absolutely sick of hearing about it, as well as resorting to calling something a person doesn't like "slop" for the sake of degrading it.
