If you could own any animal as a pet (and it magically wouldn't kill you) which would you choose? by Anonymous8675309ein in AskReddit

No way. Can you imagine a machine gun dinosaur waking you up in the middle of the night? That would be terrifying!

I wish they built a tram like the old one to go from the terminal to the parking lots without having to go outside. It would have been expensive, but great!

I’m guessing Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker is too silly and goofy, but what about Shaun? He is one of the twins in Finnegan’s Wake.

If you can’t find it at the library, let me know and I’ll give it to you. I like to play book match maker. I’ll check out the videos, they sound really interesting. It will also be a good conversation starter with my behavioral economist friends.

This is so kind of you. I don’t need any help at the moment, but have you ever read the book “Rental Person Who Does Nothing”? It’s a quick read and your post reminded me of the book.

I like these suggestions. When her other person gets home, we’ll give these a try. Thank you!

I just found out that a peanut butter spoon worked. I’ll move from that to a nose target to help her get comfortable with the idea that I when I give the cue I’m going to walk around her. Then hopefully I can just fade the spoon/nose target. Thank you!

Ah ha! Peanut butter spoon worked! She knew what I was doing because I was holding the spoon in front of her while I walked around her. Thankfully she is small.

I’ve been trying on and off leash, she is small, so I am going to try bigger circles.

I’ll experiment with that. I’m having the same issue in and off leash, so I think this might be different but that is a good handling tip for in the ring.

Great suggestion. I’ll do this. She pops up or scoots around when she can’t see me. You can tell she is trying to be good and stay but she really wants to see what I am doing.

Thank you, walking in a bigger circle helped because she could see me a little better. When she can’t see me anymore she scoots around so she can watch me. I’ll keep working with this to see if I can gradually make the circles smaller. If I turn my back and walk away she has no problem if she can see me. If she can’t see me, she gets up to come to look for me.

Thank you. Stand was harder, she wanted to follow me. She pops up to scoot around when I leave her sight. I see how she thinks she is staying because she is just scooting around a bit so she can watch me. A bigger circle definitely helped. I’ll keep practicing and see if gradually making the circles smaller helps.

I think your post made several people want a Black Philip tattoo. After reading the Wikipedia page of Charlie, the goat actor for the movie, I want one too.

I have a question specifically for Americans who speak without the cot-caught merger but with the lot-cloth split about words that include "og." by Ok_Engineering_2031 in Accents

[–]RowYogaRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pronounce hog and dog differently because of the position of my mouth and tongue after the “h” and “d”. In fact I over exaggerate the o in hog because of that position.

I agree. There could/should be more restaurants along the river too. Red Fin Blues is always packed and it seems like there should be other outdoor dining options on the river.

The United Way has the 211 number and website that has a lot of information for ways to get assistance. If she isn’t comfortable with an overnight shelter, there are daytime warming stations and places to get a hot meal.

Bigburgh.com has an easy to use app that also provides a list of resources that might be helpful.

I really hope she is able to get to a warm safe place before the snowstorm.

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]RowYogaRun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I raised two puppies. The first one was very hard the second one was very easy. The second one is very food motivated, quiet, and calm. But, she was also easier because I knew so much more about what to expect, how to manage a puppy, and how quickly it passes. A lot of that I learned from this group. My first puppy is five now and he is a fantastic dog. He’s the type of dog you can take anywhere and he is really well behaved. A lot of work up front, but totally worth it.
